He was a great strategist. Simply said. He was dedicated to Liu Bei's cause to restore the Han. After Liu Bei died, is it just me or did Zhuge Liang double his work? Because I don't recall Zhuge Liang collapsing during his plans while Liu Bei was present. What do you think about Zhuge Liang? |

It's true that once Liu Bei was gone, Zhuge Liang had to manage everything by himself due to some reasons....*cough* Liu Shan *cough* But even if Liu Bei didn't die, ZGL's age would eventually catch up with him. ZGL was believed to be a very, very, very, good strategist too. He made many strategies and even Sima Yi acknowledged his brilliance. I think now there are temples dedicated to ZGL |

Zhuge Liang is a respected stratagist in my perspective. He was called the prime minister from the one and only Jiang Wei. He fought for Zhuge Liang on the legendary battle of Wu Zhang Plains. Because of his death, Jiang Wei fought and reached Sima Yi with full force. |

He's a good strategist but the only problem is not trusting Wei Yan, though sometimes he could be right in not putting an offensive attack. |

Wei Yan did not like it at all and almost revolted at the matter. Thus, creating problems for Shu. |

He revolted because someone didn't like his plans. Man, if Paradox and/or Gryffin see this post about Wei Yan, they're going to scream. |

I'm not gonna scream, but I will say that Wei Yan's plan to take Chang An may have worked had Zhuge used it. |

Amen. I have to say that Zhuge's writings on strategy are among my favorites, myself.
I'm assuming you're talking about the DW Wei Yan. And if you are, I'll be forced to smite you. |

...Didn't every ruler/strategist fight for peace? I doubt that Sima Yi's attitude was: "LOL, we won the war. All right, so you 5 generals are liek, dunno, Shoe, and we are liek Wei (meaning Way Cool lol). Let's fight." "But my lord, I served 3 generations of the Cao family." "stfu plz plz kk?" |

Well, some were more peaceful than others. For instance, Gongsun Yuan was Wei's vassal, but revolted. He really stood no chance, but did it anyway. |

If Zhuge Liang really was that concerned about peace he would just surrender Shu to Wei. He wanted Liu Bei to rule. He didn't just want peace. Same goes for everyone. I'm not attacking any general here, but I think that fighting for peace in this situation is... Well... Bullcrap. Not that I agree with Erasmus, who thought that people should keep the peace, no matter what. Pacifism is so cute, if everyone is a pacifist. If one isn't, he can wreak havoc all he wants. According to Erasmus' theory, we should just have let the Holocaust happen, just to preserve peace. I'm going off topic. Sorry, had a bad day, need to rant. |

They fought for peace, but only for peace under their own lord's rule. Which makes expression like "peaceful methods" don't make much sense. On Zhuge Liang, I'm rather disheartened when I learned that historically he was nowhere near as good as what the description in Luo's novel. Not to mention that most of his "greatness" in the novel were at the expense of other comparable figures. One good example: Zhou Yu. Well, that's too bad. We all have to go through that kind of period one way or the other some time. <_< |

I didn't mean he fought only for peace; merely that it was part of his reasoning, whereas Gongsun wanted power, even at the expense of the peace in He Bei. And I understand about the ranting. It's an excellent therapy. |

I think Zhuge Liang was actually the smartest of the strategists at that time. He's kinda cool. |

Yeah, it's a kinda strategy RPG thing. I rather like it. One of the kingdoms (which is ruled by a nut), arfter uniting the land, divides up the land (at the order of said ruler) and apparently starts over. >.> |

...How many were related to Zhuge Liang at that time? That includes: Zhuge: Jin, Jun, Luo, Zhan, Shang...That's all that I can think of right now. Pathetic list, I know. |
