Does anyone play the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series? I just got RTK 10 for my 16th birthday (which was on the 20th), and I haven't been able to stop playing it. What do you guys think about these series? As far as I'm concerned, everyone could learn something about the Three Kingdoms era just by playing RTK a bit. What are your comments on the RTK series? |

To me, the most fun I've ever had playing it was when I had three friends over, and we were playing RTK 8. We each chose an officer. My friends all used lords (like Cao Cao, Meng Huo, Dong Zhuo...hoping the battles would be similar to those of the DW series), while I myself used Lu Bu. (100+ WAR stat. Yippee.) My friends being the rulers...while I was an officer of Dong Zhuo's...so, the first chance I got, I resigned and made my own force, and creamed Dong Zhuo. Sun Quan and Cao Cao followed soon after. *sigh* That was fun, but a tad short. Well, to me, it was fun, to them...probably not. |

I've played VII, VIII, IX, and X. I didn't like IX, but VII is good, VII is excellent, and X is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. |

Well, technically, it's not a multiplayer mode, but since the game allows you to control up to eight different officers, I did it with three other people, and we each controlled one officer. It's up to you if you want to call that "Multiplayer."
Basically, if you've played Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires...It's a little like that, except the portraits for the officers look nothing like their counterparts from the DW series. You, being either the vassal or the ruler, raise an army and crush your opponents. The events follow history, but there are some things in the game that didn't happen in history. So, I guess it follows the novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, as there's that Shu guy, named Zhou Cang, that didn't appear in actual history, but he's there anyway. |

Note that you can only control one officer in 10, Koei mistakenly put multiplayer on the back of the box but amended it on their webpage. I've played most of the games aside from 9, which I can't find anywhere. 10 is probably my favorite, though I've yet to actually finish any scenarios. |

Hmm...I never noticed that, but it is pretty funny how they put 1-8 players on the back of the box. |

However, it's far more in-depth than DW4E. You must balance and conserve resources, forge alliances (not just through a one-click proposal), and defeat your enemies via strategy, rather than hack and slash stuff. Stats and skills are important, and you can form personal bonds with other characters. |

I'd go with X. It's a bit more complicated, but it has a tutorial feature that teaches ou as you go, rather than 7/8's help Screen. However, if cost's an isse, then go with 7. iIt's prolly cheaper. |

If you are a major grammar King, don't get VIII. It has the WORST english ever. Such as: -The Xia Pi of Gao Gan has switched to the side of Cao Cao. -In Cao Xiong's bio it says Ku Bu instead of Lu Bu. |

I love that game, brings me back into 2nd Century China, I remember I tried making my own force, I failed miserably. I remember this one time I got my friend into it, and "persuaded" him to betray his force. The Music is awesome, it'd be great if someone'd get a copy. It's the kind of music you wanna be listening to when playing Go. |

When you make a new officer in RTK10, what stats do you generally give it? When I made Lu Xia, I gave him 100's for every stat, but he didn't live that long. If I were to make a guy that corrsponded with my stats in real life, I think the highest stat would probably be around 60 for charisma. |

When compared to a regualr joe thats fair enough but how about comparing that to Liu Bei or his ilk? 60's quite high. (Yuan Shu only has 44...) I don't know, maybe you are a very charismatic guy! But are you judging that by yourself or how it would be if you were a warlord? I usually don't go too far with the stats, its a bit ridiculous to overshadow the main characters. Unless you're going for an all out fiction war! Hanzomaster, I believe you mean Cao Cao's father. Playing as a character with low stats can actually be quite fun if you are a ruler. Need to employ some seriously talented officers quickly though. I'm playing as Yuan Shu at the moment. Lu Bu's my oath brother... |
