I couldn't really recommend this game cuz the JP ver is waaaaaay better for obvious reasons.

Please share those reasons >_>. I've heard many people saying how much gameplay was improved in DK over SB. And gameplay always comes first, then story and characters.

Like it.
Everytime i watch the story video,i laugh because they so funny.Especially frost army opening,i always try to think Kenshin in SW is like Frost, but is hard to think about it :)
And i like Red Minotaur army vs Frost army and Bramble-Lark opening..

But,there is no game is perfect.
I hate devil kings because of..
How come Yukimura Sanada

*stops reading there*

Wtf does Yukimura have to do with anything...?

And I agree with Lord of Wei, somewhat. SB was boring to me with just square moves, specials, and BASARA. DK is much more fun with the prime attacks. Unfortunatly we lose 4 characters, but none of them had any appeal to me, honestly.

And I also agree with Chen_Stormstout; the allies and enemies don't move much making for a rather dull game. And yes, there is low replay value.

I give it a 6.5.

my thoughts: a cheap version of DMC3. I kept on dying when i first started playing. Then i realized that the controls were basically dmc3 controls, and went on from there. The problem is that alot of the moves aren't flexible. Not everyone can air juggle as well as someone like Sarutobi or Yukimura (yes, to this day i still do not know all of their English-fied names) I seriously wish Nouhime could juggle like Dante does? but that's impossible. It's sad how i press the controller to set up doing a juggle but it just doesn't happen. Each character ought to be more unique than what they already are. I mean, Nouhime is dying to air juggle with her pistols. Perhaps it's just me.

there's also a lack of story. You can't become too attached to a character because you don't learn much about them. Camera angles. Riding a horse "backwards" is not fun.

JP version had:
More Characters
More Attacks
Sengoku History
Less NPCs

NA version had:
Less Characters
"Priming"
More NPCs
1 or 2 new attacks
Made up Story

Get me point?

No, I don't.

I told you before that gameplay comes before story and characters. Most of the players who have played both SB and DK, seem to find gameplay better in DK.

SB didn't have more attacks >_>. The Boost Attacks that were removed from SB, were added as characters Prime Attacks or Fury Attacks in DK. I think only Scorpion lost attack, but that's it. I might be wrong though. Someone who has played both of them knows better, but I'm certain only 1 or 3 attacks were removed.

I really enjoyed from DK even though it had less characters and made up story, but I guess that's ok for better gameplay. Besides, you get used character names in DK and some stories were in fact fun or interesting ;).

You like to kill all things moving without any reason? Buy Devil Kings! If not, buy Samurai Warriors.

In other words, it's more boring than Samurai Warriors. DK's level are so LINEAR. It's freaking horrible.

I find devil kings cool to play, but it's actually a cheap copy of SW. although I'm not really sure whitch game got first.

the elemental attacks on the third weapons are amazing to me. to bad I rented the game, but it was fun for that period of time.

one thing bothers me though, Kenshin is described as a holy budhist in SW, but kenshin in DK is just a PIMP. sometimes he scares me to death

I enjoy Devil Kings a lot. The only thing is me and my little brother love playing dynasty and samurai warriors together, so i would like a coop mode. Other than that, I would like to see a sequal. I like this game a lot.

Unfortunately, I am someone who must have a good storyline, and DK just phails MISERABLY in that. After finishing all the characters, I got so bored of playing the same scenarios over and over again. And not to mention the game glitch which makes Reaper, Bramble, Lark and Zaan unplayable...(I wanted REAPER...)

Is it actually a glitch? i thoght capcom was just lazy and decided "who cares about half the characters..i dont wanna translate any more." and just released the game.

I can only play as Scorpio, Azure, Devil King, Lady Butterfly and Red Minotaur. Every other character just bit the dust im guessing?

Also, i cant seem to kill Hondam for some reason. Maybe its because my scorpio's only level 4 with his second weapon..heh.

Or do i just suck? i always do the kick to make him more vulnerable then flame drill him, repeat. or should i just spam drill? Usually get him to 1/4 hp.

I liked DK. I think it could have been better though. I hated the conquest mode, there was little to no depth to it at all. It also dissapoints me that they made some pretty good anime cutscenes yet the game really falls short on the story due to the fact that the focus of game was purely battle. I didn't mind the linear levels, in fact I think some of them were quite good. But the sad part is though is that the levels hardly have any depth in them. Just kill, kill, and kill. There was only one mission that I can think of that offered something alternative. Also it annoyed me that every character had the same missions. Where's the individuality in that? As for the battle system, I think this is what put in the enjoyment factor. There are a tons of items and abilities that can be gained by playing it multiple times. Also it encourages ability development and practice due to the fact that the higher the diffulculty the better the items you get. This brings replay value up quite a bit and is really the only thing the game is good for. Though I was kind of annoyed by the fact that you randomly got items. I prefer to get them in a store. Which the next game will offer I hear. What I would like to see in the next game are more story driven cutscences and to have each character have their own individual levels. I would also like to see more characters playable of course. To my knownledge Chosokabe{Also known as Arslan} and Motonari{Also know as Kahz} will be playable in the next game alongside the new additions being Takenaka Hanbei, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Maeda Keiji, Oichi{in hereos}, Kojuro{In heroes}, Azai Nagamasa{In heroes} and Fuma Kotaro{ I think}. Correct if I'm wrong on any of those.

Oh and to answer some questions here, yeah Capcom did just get lazy and threw Matsu{Bramble}, Maeda Toshiee{Lark}, Akechi Mitsuhide{Reaper}, and Shimazu Yoshiro{Zaan}. I sooooo wanted to play Bramble. Her sword style seemed a lot cooler then Useugi Kenshin's{Frost}.

Also DK was around before SW. I wouldn't be surprised if Koei made SW as a response to compete with this game.

Oh and on defeating Honda Tadakatsu{Iron Ox}, this guy is actually that hard to beat if you figure out some stargedies. Yukimura{Scorpio} is actually one of the best choices for taking him down. With Yukimura, you should shoot flame drill at him a lot and Iron Ox won't block it until it gets to 75%{I think} and then he'll start attack you again if stop attack. Guard immediately and wait for an opening. He may be the so called "ultimate warrior" but his attacks are reletively slow and an opening in his attacks isn't too hard to find. So when you see an opening, let loose with a combo or a few flame drills and should do some damge. Another way to kill him is to let him hurt you down to red and since that you recharge your fury when your life is low, you can lead Iron Ox to attack you multiple times{Of course you block all of it} and unleash your fury on him when the time comes. Iron OX never seems to stop trying to kill you and his attacks are surprisingly easy to block so this is a rather effective stragedy. Of course depending on your skills this may need practice and This works best if you're playing Nobunaga{Devil King}, Yukimura{Scorpio}, or Noh{Lady Butterfly}. I also managed to beat him pretty easily with lady Noh. I got him at a weak spot and I hit triangle to make his lifebar yellow so I kepted shooting him nonstop like this while occasionally taping triangle to keep his life yellow. I killed him pretty quickly and surprisingly he never attack. Of course this would an advanced trick Don't try this if you're a noobie. Oh and keep in mind that it's always best to fight him alone. It's annoying to have random dudes come in and screw up your stragedy.

DK is the total bomb.

I wasn't too sure how much I'd like it when I first picked it up (as I've played DW and the like before).

But to my great satisfaction, I loved it. I actually enjoyed the story/dialogue quite a bit. Even if it wasn't like....ALOT of story, there was enough there to get an idea on the characters and how they were.

I loved most of the character designs as well. The weapon updates were a nice thing to have as well.

Character wise......everyone is now at lvl 20. ^_^

It's okay for a while. I got bored MUCH faster than with SW. The simple fact that the only way to increase attack and defense is to find better weapons is really weird. Not to mention that the some of the cooler characters are not playable and have HORRIBLE names.

I mean what the hell is Iron Ox. Those are DEER antlers. Oxen have horns. Plus the whole "secret" weapon thing was bad. Most of them were pretty dumb. I mean who goes from an axe to a giant paper fan or a boquet of blue roses.

This game looks pretty fun. Maybe I should rent it. Kenshin's design is really freaky, Ieyasu is younger than Yukimura, and Honda is a robot?

The one thing they got right for dk is the difficulty. Seriously, even peons can kill you in 3-4 hits on normal mode and some bosses require a little of strategy to fight.

One of it's notable failings - personally - is that I have no sense of the universe of this place. It's just 'Here's a bunch of characters, here's their world, they all want to take it over for... whatever. Go.'. Capcom really had a chance here to build up an entire universe in terms of this game.

The Basara & Musou games have a universe built in already. Our universe. So we already have an understanding of how things are going and the like. There's tons of backstory there already.

With Devil Kings, it's very shallow. The well-animated cut scenes between Irdene & Minotaur; Minotaur & Frost... they were amusing at the time but we have no idea why they're doing this at all. It's not smart to assume that these characters are willing to take over lands and the like for no stated reasoning.

That's sort of the problem overall. It feel shallow. It feels incomplete in alot of ways (and that's considering is an expansion in terms of gameplay). There's alot of fun quotes and the voicing I find very good for the most part. But I still don't have a very clear understanding of this universe or the like. See, in order to have those we have to see what people do when they aren't killing each other.

I am happy with the level of difficulty. This game is hard, and I like that I have to take my time. But they sort of copped out in terms of not having an interim save. That's just.... uh.

I'm happy with how the game plays. It's just fun and you have to focus on it all the time. You can be killed very easily so you have to try. That level of intensity is something I enjoy.

I agree to every point, tennoarashi made. I would prefer if Capcom would just translate the characters' name into English like SW and just let the players enjoy some history lesson.

I also do not really like the modernized names for the characters too. I lose all the feeling to play just hearing one's name.

Games really cool IMO, alot harder than both of SW and DW. I didn't read earlier pages so I dunno if this was mentioned but that's what I likeD to see (and didn't see in Sengoku BASARA)

1) Alt. customes.
2) Third&Fourth weapons needing special requirements to be unlocked, and not bought.
3) Leveling up to be a bit more easier.

Things I hoped to be added and was added in Sengoku

1)More characters and stages
2)Historical names
3)More modes, like Vs.

Also, I don't really think Capcom ripped anything Koei did, only thing I see that both games have in common, was the genre which Koei came up with, and Capcom had the right to do that. Koei doesn't own history, in fact, I recall reading about a Three Kingdoms Game made by Capcom before Koei thought of Dynasty Warriors.
