DISCLAIMER: Alex and I (Mostly Alex) had this idea WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY before Slick/Satan did. We had it planned before them. And heck, our topic was made before Slick's. Dont think Slick and Gryffin are awesome for making a biography place. Alex had the idea first. >__________>

Few early notes
As you can see, this project is still not finished yet. There are still bios that aren't included, and some of those which have been included are still too short.
If you have any inquiries, feel free to PM me. Corrections, contributions, and mild critics are welcome, but harsh critics and flames are not. :) Also, please don't post in this topic to keep its cleanness.

All Asian names in this topic will be written in the original Surname-Firstname order. First, using the original order on historical names is encouraged. Also, remember guys, Chinese names are the same as Japanese names. Zhao is surname, and Yun is firstname. So if I were to write in Firstname-Surname order, I would have to write like this to keep the consistency..
Tadakatsu Honda was dubbed as the Fei Zhang of Japan
Hanbei Takenaka was nicknamed the Liang Zhuge of Sengoku
Got it? :ph43r:

If I have time and requests, I will include characters featured in other games such as Shin Onimusha or Kessen III, as well as well-known Sengoku generals that are yet to be added in any games.

Credits
Thanks for those who have helped me in this project. ;)

真田 幸村
Sanada Yukimura
1567 - 1615

He was actually known as 真田信繁 Sanada Nobushige. His father, 真田昌幸 Sanada Masayuki gave him that name in honour to Takeda Shingen's famous brother 武田信繁 Takeda Nobushige who died in the 4th battle of Kawanakajima. His young name was 源次郎 Genjirou.

In 1585, the Sanada made an alliance with the Uesugi and Tokugawa. Masayuki sent Yukimura as a hostage to the Uesugi and Yukimura's brother Nobuyuki to the Tokugawa. When the Sekigahara campaign started, the Sanada would initially support the Tokugawa, however Masayuki changed his mind and chose to support the Toyotomi along with Yukimura, while Nobuyuki was left to support the Tokugawa. This decision is seen as pragmatism on the part of the Sanada, whether the East or the West won the battle, the Sanada would still survive.

During the campaign, a Tokugawa army led by Ieyasu's son 秀忠 Hidetada decided to lay siege on Ueda Castle, the castle owned by Masayuki & Yukimura. The two managed to resist the army. This is said to be one of the greatest sieges in Japanese history. However in the end, the Eastern army won the actual Sekigahara battle. Afterwards, Masayuki and Yukimura were to be given death sentence, but thanks to Nobuyuki, the sentence was averted and instead the two would be banished to 九度山 Kuudoyama in 紀伊 Kii province. Masayuki died at that place in 1611.

He got the title of 日本一の兵 Hinomoto/Nippon Ichi no Tsuwamono (Japan's Number One Soldier) for his heroic valour in the Siege of Osaka. During the winter siege, Yukimura constructed the 真田丸 Sanadamaru and managed to repel the Tokugawa army. At the summer siege, he charged through the Tokugawa main camp, however, as he was getting close to Ieyasu, he was killed by a certain samurai named Nishio Nizaemon before he got close enough to Ieyasu to kill him.

Yukimura was married to the daughter of 大谷吉継 Ootani Yoshitsugu, a Toyotomi retainer. He had a son, 真田大助幸昌 Sanada Daisuke Yukimasa, who participated in the Siege of Osaka and died there as well. However, the Sanada didn't perish as Nobuyuki survived and continued living all the way to Edo period.

前田 慶次
Maeda Keiji
1543 - 1612

Also known as 前田利益 Maeda Toshimasu. Originally the son of 滝川益重 Takigawa Masushige (一益 Kazumasu's cousin), he was later adopted by 前田利久 Maeda Toshihisa, which was Maeda Toshiie's brother. However, he had an uneasy feeling with Toshiie. When Toshiie became the leader of the Maeda, he left the clan, and would later be seen fighting for the Uesugi during the Sekigahara campaign.

He was nicknamed 傾奇者 Kabukimono for being a strange man in terms of dressing, manners and such.

明智 光秀
Akechi Mitsuhide
1526 - 1582

The general who's very well known for destroying Nobunaga. He first served the 斉藤 Saitou and then 朝倉 Asakura before in 1566 worked as the Shogun of that time 足利義昭 Ashikaga Yoshiaki's messenger, and ended up becoming Oda retainer. After proving himself as a worthy general in battles, he was rewarded Sakamoto Castle.

During Oda's campaign against Chugoku region, Mitsuhide was ordered to subjugate provinces of Tamba and Tango, where he clashed with the 波多野 Hatano and 一色 Isshiki. It is said that when Tamba was taken, Mitsuhide convinced the Hatano daimyo 波多野晴通 Hatano Hideharu to submit so that his life could be spared. Unfortunately, Nobunaga somehow had Hideharu executed instead. The Hatano then accused Mitsuhide of treachery for the 'deceit', and managed to kill Mitsuhide's mother in a dreadful way. It is said that this resulted in Mitsuhide's great upset with Nobunaga, and possibly the trigger of the Honnou-ji incident.

Several years later, Mitsuhide was ordered to aid Hideyoshi who was fighting the Mouri at Takamatsu. However, he instead marched back against Nobunaga who was currently resting at Honnou-ji. Nobunaga was finally killed in this surprising event, and Mitsuhide declared himself as Shogun... only for a short time, however. Although he received a favorable reception from the Imperial Court, he failed to gain support from nearby clans, including the 細川 Hosokawa, whose member 忠興 Tadaoki was married to his daughter (玉子 Tamako / ガラシャ Garasha/Gracia), and 筒井 Tsutsui who hadn't a good relation with the Oda.

Mitsuhide sent a messenger to the Mouri to inform about Nobunaga's death, however the Hashiba troops intercepted the messenger, thus learning of the incident earlier. Hideyoshi then made a peace treaty with the Mouri soon after, and marched against Akechi. Thirteen days after Honnou-ji, the two armies fought at Yamazaki, where the Hashiba forces would be victorious. It is said that during the retreat, Mitsuhide encountered a village where he would be stabbed to death by a peasant's bamboo spear.

石川 五右衛門
Ishikawa Goemon
15?? - 1594

天下の大泥棒 Tenka no Oodorobu (The Land's King of Thieves). He was once an Iga ninja, also said to be son of a minor retainer to the 三好 Miyoshi. However, after he was found commiting a petty theft, he escaped and became a bandit, or an 抜け忍 Nuke-nin (Rogue Ninja). He was captured in 1594 by the Toyotomi, and Hideyoshi ordered to execute him by boiling him alive in a pot of oil.

There are some legends about Goemon's theftry. Some said that he stole things to help out the poor ones. Some explained about his capture. Goemon was attempting to steal the legendary treasure 千鳥の香炉 Chidori no Kourou, which was located inside Hideyoshi's Osaka Castle. When he was about to get it, the treasure made a loud noise, waking everyone inside that castle.

上杉 謙信
Uesugi Kenshin
1530 - 1578

Daimyo of Echigo. Known as 越後の龍 Echigo no Ryu (Dragon of Echigo) and 軍神 Gunshin (God of Army). Originally from the 長尾 Nagao clan, with the name 長尾景虎 Nagao Kagetora. Child name, 虎千代 Torachiyo. Son of 長尾為景 Nagao Tamekage. Kagetora became the head of the clan in 1547 after defeating his brother 長尾晴景 Nagao Harukage in a civil war. In 1551, 上杉憲政 Uesugi Norimasa, the daimyo of Uesugi at the time, was defeated by the Hojo and fled to Echigo to seek shelter and support from Kagetora. He accepted, with the condition that Kagetora would be adopted to the Uesugi clan.

The next year, he was approached by Ogasawara Nagatoki and 村上義清 Murakami Yoshikiyo, lords in Shinano who had just been defeated by Takeda Shingen. The two asked Kagetora for assistance and since he was worried about Shingen's northern campaigns as well, he accepted gladly. This resulted in five battles at Kawanakajima (1553, 1555, 1557, 1561, and 1564), the most famous was the fourth, where he and Shingen met and exchanged blows. In 1559, Kenshin went to visit the Ashikaga Shogun and take Buddhist vows. It was this time that he used the name Kenshin. Since he had took Buddhist vows, he was never married. Hence, there is a speculation that Kenshin was actually a woman.

In the same year, the Uesugi finally went to war with the Hojo, and the former army were able to seize many of the latter's castles. However they were unable to take Hojo's main castle, Odawara, at the time, so they ended the campaign and retreated. Kenshin later played upon the in-fighting between the 神保 Jinbou and Shiina clans in Etchu and in the end, the Uesugi seized the territory of both clans, conquering Etchu. He also declared war with the 芦名 Ashina to the north.

When Shingen died in 1573, Kenshin is said to have wept for the loss of the great rival. Kenshin had formerly allied with the Oda clan against the Takeda but he later called up a truce with the heir to the Takeda, 勝頼 Katsuyori, and instead turned his attention towards the Oda. Kenshin took Noto and Kaga provinces from the 畠山 Hatakeyama, a clan which was Oda's vassal, and beat the Oda army itself at Tedorigawa in 1577. Before he could launch further attacks on the Oda however, Kenshin died in the next year, probably due to stomach cancer because he was very fond of drink.

Since Kenshin had no sons, he selected 景勝 Kagekatsu, his nephew, and 景虎 Kagetora, adopted from the Hojo to the Uesugi, as heirs. However in the future, a civil war between the two of them occured, known as 御館の乱 Otate no Ran, which ended with the death of Kagetora, and Kagekatsu becoming Daimyo of Uesugi.

お市
O-ichi
1547 - 1583

Sister of Nobunaga, who is said to be reckoned for her beauty. When Nobunaga conquered Mino in 1567, he arranged an alliance to the Azai clan by marrying Ichi to Nagamasa in order to strengthen the alliance between Oda and Azai. Through Nagamasa, Ichi bore a son and three daughters.

Things wouldn't go well though, as when Nobunaga invades the 朝倉 Asakura, Nagamasa was more bound on the long-established Azai-Asakura alliance, thus breaking his pact with Nobunaga despite the marriage. Eventually, the Asakura were squashed, and Azai's Odani Castle was fully surrounded by the Oda. Nagamasa had no choice but to return Ichi and the three daughters to Nobunaga, while he and his son would commit seppuku inside the falling castle. And thus Ichi returned to Katsuie's side.

After Nobunaga's death, Hideyoshi and Katsuie had a contest for succession, which ended with the battle of Shizugatake and the loss of Shibata army. After locking himself in his Ichi no Tani castle, he begged Ichi to take her daughters away and leave. Ichi did send her daughters away, however she would stay in the castle, commiting seppuku together with Katsuie.

Her oldest daughter is 茶々 Cha-cha, who was also known as 淀殿 Yodo-gimi. She was Hideyoshi's favorite concubine who bore him 秀頼 Hideyori. The second one is お初 O-hatsu, who married 京極高次 Kyougoku Takatsugu, a loyal Oda retainer. The last one, お江 O-go, married 徳川秀忠 Tokugawa Hidetada and bore him the next Shogun, 家光 Iemitsu.

伊達 政宗
Date Masamune
1566 - 1636

Daimyo of 陸奥 Mutsu province. Son of 輝宗 Terumune. His mother, 義姫 Yoshi-hime, is the sister of 最上義光 Mogami Yoshiaki, daimyo of 出羽 Dewa province. Known as 独眼竜 Dokuganryuu (One-eyed Dragon) as he only had the left eye. He lost his right eye due to a pox during his childhood. The Dokuganryu nickname also fits his hot-blooded and fierce personality. At the age of 13 (1579), he was married to 愛姫 Mego-hime, daughter of 田村清顕 Tamura Kiyoaki, owner of 三春城 Miharu Castle located in Mutsu. His first battle was in 1581, where the Date fought the 相馬 Souma clan. In 1584, Terumune retired and Masamune became the daimyo of Date.

The Date clan had very few allies and many hostile clans in Oushuu. The hostiles are including the Souma, 大内 Oouchi, 芦名 Ashina, 佐竹 Satake, and especially the archrival 畠山 Hatakeyama. With the new daimyo Masamune who was agressive and hot-blooded, the relations with the said clans were getting worse. The conflict reached its peak when in 1585, a failed negotiation with the Hatakeyama resulted in the kidnap and murder of Terumune. Shortly after, the hostile clans gathered and formed an anti-Date alliance and marched against Masamune. The alliance army clashed with the Date army at 人取橋 Hitadori Bridge. The Date was obviously outnumbered and on a brink of defeat, however the lady luck was with Masamune, as the Satake army would soon retreat to its region 常陸 Hitachi after receiving report that it was under attack by the nearby 里見 Satomi clan of Kazusa province. This resulted in the retreat of the other armies, so that the Date could survive and rebuild its army.

In 1589, Date was able to subjugate Souma, and soon after bribing an important Ashina retainer, 猪苗代盛国 Inawashiro Morikuni, Masamune marched against the clan at 摺上原 Suriagehara in June 5th. It was a major victory for Masamune, and the Date conquered most of Oushuu afterwards. However the next year (1590), Toyotomi Hideyoshi who had just done subjugating the western islands urged the northern daimyos to surrender to him. Although the Hojo declined, Masamune decided to join the Toyotomi. After the siege of Odawara ended and the Hojo annihilated, Hideyoshi who had just unified Japan would order the Date daimyo to relinquish his newly conquered regions.

In 1595, following Hideyoshi's order to execute his adopted son 秀次 Hidetsugu after the birth of Hideyori, Masamune was about to be relocated to Iyo, Shikoku and his holdings reduced again, but those were averted by Tokugawa Ieyasu. Relations between Masamune and Ieyasu got better, and the Date would obviously support the Tokugawa when the Sekigahara campaign. Although Masamune himself didn't join the major battle, he, together with his uncle Yoshiaki, managed to prevent the Uesugi army which supported Toyotomi from marching to Sekigahara when the two armies fought at 長谷堂 Hasedou in September 1600. He also joined the Osaka campaign (1614-1615) where he fought Sanada Yukimura at Tennouji.

濃姫
Nou-hime
1535 - ????

Her real name is 帰蝶 Kichou. 美濃蝮の娘 Daughter of the Mino Viper, 斉藤道三 Saitou Dousan. She was the official wife of Nobunaga. However, Nobunaga was said to not love her, and that she wasn't able to bore any children. Records about her death weren't clear though. Some said that she died alongside Nobunaga at Honnouji. Some other said she didn't and managed to live a bit longer than Nobunaga.

It is said that Nobunaga prefered one of his concubines, Kitsuno, who bore him sons like 信忠 Nobutada.

Fun Factoid: 蝶 Chou in 帰蝶 Kichou means "Butterfly". That should explain why in almost every games that featured her (Sengoku Musou; Kessen III; Sengoku Basara) she is symbolized with butterflies.

服部 半蔵
Hattori Hanzou
1541 - 1596

The ever famous shinobi, also known as 正成 Masanari. Son of 服部保長 Hattori Yasunaga. The Hattori clan was one of Iga's three major ninja clans. (The other two were 百地 Momochi and 藤林 Fujibayashi.) He was a loyal follower to Tokugawa Ieyasu. He was titled 鬼の半蔵 Oni no Hanzou (Demon Hanzou) Not only because of his superb skills, but also to distinguish him from another Tokugawa retainer 渡辺半蔵守綱 Watanabe Hanzou Moritsuna who was titled 槍の半蔵 Yari no Hanzou (Spear Hanzou).

He participated in a number of Tokugawa's battles including Anegawa and Mikatagahara, but his major contribution came in 1582, after the Honnou-ji incident. The Tokugawa had been staying near Osaka when the incident happened. To avoid from being detained by the Akechi army, Hanzou suggests that they should take a route through Iga. Not only because of many acquaintances Hanzou had there, but Ieyasu also had a quite good reputation there for sheltering survivors when Nobunaga invaded Iga in 1580.

He is said to be very loyal to the Tokugawa, and when he was ordered to assist Ieyasu's son 信康 Nobuyasu in commiting seppuku, he was unable to do so. He is also said to led 200 Iga warriors who formed the foundation of the Edo Castle guard.

森 蘭丸
Mori Ranmaru
1565 - 1582

Also known as 森長定 Mori Nagasada, Ranmaru was the 3rd son of 森可成 Mori Yoshinari and was born in Mino province. Ranmaru was particularly known for being very handsome, even as a young child. He was also famous for having a very close relationship with his liege Oda Nobunaga. Today some sources say that Ranmaru and Nobunaga might have had sexual relations as well, although there is no actual evidence of this. Despite the fact that Nobunaga did have a wife and at least two recorded concubines, there was a strong bisexual tradition in Japan during the times when Ranmaru lived and it is possible that Ranmaru did have some sort of an illicit relationship with Nobunaga, albeit unlikely.

Ranmaru was very young when his father Yoshinari first showed him to Nobunaga. Nobunaga took an instant liking to the boy and made Ranmaru a page under him (a page is a lot like the equivalent of being a European squire). In addition to being expected to serve as a bodyguard for Nobunaga, Ranmaru also needed to attend to him and to do tasks like fetching his horse. And besides staying close to Nobunaga during peacetime and doing various chores, Ranmaru also protected his lord in battle. Ranmaru continued to serve as a page under Nobunaga throughout his entire life, even when he was in his teens and could have become a fully-fledged samurai. This was mostly because Nobunaga greatly liked Ranmaru and thought that he was extremely reliable.

After his father Yoshinari died and his mother became a Buddhist monk, Ranmaru’s brothers went to Ranmaru to become pages under Nobunaga themselves. Nobunaga cared for them and even rewarded Ranmaru a small fief at Oumi. Following Takeda Katsuyori's death, Ranmaru was given Iwamura Castle in his native province and the title ‘Lord of Iwamura.’ Ranmaru continued to serve Nobunaga until it seemed as if Nobunaga would finally unite Japan. Before that happened however, in 1582 Nobunaga was betrayed by his own vassal Akechi Mitsuhide. Nobunaga was staying at Honnou-Ji with only a few troops versus several thousand belonging to Mitsuhide when Mitsuhide attacked. While Ranmaru was said to have fought bravely against the Akechi hordes sent against him, he and his younger brothers, Nagataka and Nagauji, were eventually slain in battle. Ranmaru was just seventeen years old when he perished defending Nobunaga.

今川 義元
Imagawa Yoshimoto
1519 - 1560

Daimyo of Suruga and Totomi. Known as 海道一の弓取り Kaidou Ichi no Yumitori. Fifth son of 今川氏親 Imagawa Ujichika. During his childhood, Yoshimoto was sent to Zentoku Temple for religious study. When Ujichika died in 1526, his first son 氏輝 Ujiteru automatically became the successor. However, he only ruled for 10 years, as he died in 1536 due to an illness. Yoshimoto saw this as an opportunity to become a daimyo, so he left the temple and swiftly defeated his brothers in the Hanagura no Ran, becoming the new daimyo of Imagawa.

The next year (1537), he married 武田信虎 Takeda Nobutora's daughter. However, worrying about the proximity of the Takeda, Yoshimoto supported Nobutora's son Shingen when the latter overthrowed his father. Soon after that, the Imagawa and Takeda became allies. In 1544, the alliance of the two clans attacked the Hojo, but they were defeated at Kitsunebashi and as a result in the next year (1545), the two clans offered alliance to Hojo, which the latter accepted. The alliance of these three clans was known as the 三国同盟 Sangoku Doumei (Three Kingdoms Alliance).

He then turned his attention towards securing Totomi and also the struggle in Owari-Mikawa between his clan, the Oda, and the 松平 Matsudaira. Although Yoshimoto managed to conquer Totomi, his army were defeated by the Oda at 小豆坂 Azukizaka in 1542. 6 years later (1548), with the aid of his uncle 太源雪斎 Taigen Sessai, the Imagawa were able to beat the Oda at the same place. In the same year, he also made the Matsudaira into submission and took 松平元康 Matsudaira Motoyasu (a.k.a. Tokugawa Ieyasu) as hostage.

In the 1550s, the Imagawa were at the height of their power and Yoshimoto spent his days in his capital at Sumpu living in luxury. In 1560, Yoshimoto decided to march to take over Kyoto but was blocked by the Oda clan. At the battle of Okehazama, Yoshimoto led his massive army against the Oda and seized two Oda bases which Nobunaga had only lightly defended. When Yoshimoto set up camp at Dengakuhazama however, Nobunaga mobilized his troops forward and struck suddenly during a thunderstorm. Although Yoshimoto injured one Oda soldier with his sword, he was cut down by another and the Imagawa army fled and were routed when they heard that their leader had been killed.

Also known as 平八郎 Heihachirou. Often believed as 戦国最強 Sengoku Saikyou (The strongest of the Sengoku). One of the two 徳川家康に過ぎたるもの Tokugawa Ieyasu ni sugitaru mono (Things that surpassed Tokugawa Ieyasu), the other one was Ieyasu's unique helmet. Tokugawa's most valuable general, and one of the 徳川四天王 Tokugawa Shi-Ten-Ou [The others are 井伊直政 Ii Naomasa, 酒井忠次 Sakai Tadatsugu, and 榊原康政 Sakakibara Yasumasa]

He is easily recognized by two things: the antler-horned helmet, and the 蜻蛉切 Tonbogiri (Dragonfly Cutter) Spear. He had fought in almost every Tokugawa's battles, and he is said to never been injured in more than 50 battles he had fought. During the battle of Anegawa, he was said to be able to hold off Asakura's 10000 horsemen, which earned him the nickname 日本の張飛 Japan's Zhang Fei. He distinguished himself again for became a rear guard when the Takeda army pursued at Mikatagahara. It was Takeda Shingen who said the two things that surpassed Ieyasu's worth. Other than that, he also commanded a rifle army at Nagashino, and participated in the Siege of Odawara and the Battle of Sekigahara.

His best deed was during the Komaki Campaign (1584). While Ieyasu went to Nagakute to engage the Toyotomi army, Tadakatsu guarded the Komaki only to find out that Hideyoshi himself was leading a huge army to the location. He then rode out with only around 200 men and challenged the enemy army from the opposite bank of the nearby Shonai River by firing guns, taunting and such. Hideyoshi (Outnumbering Tadakatsu by huge numbers) was awe-struck by Tadakatsu's fierce determination and ordered no harm be done to him and his troops.

徳川 家康
Tokugawa Ieyasu
1542 - 1616

The third of the Three Unifiers, this founder of the Tokugawa Bakufu was originally from the Matsudaira clan, hence his previous name was 松平元康 Matsudaira Motoyasu. His childhood name was 竹千代 Takechiyo.

At first he was an Imagawa hostage until the battle of Okehazama, when he would declare independence afterwards, becoming daimyo of Mikawa, and made a mutual alliance with the Oda. After Nobunaga was killed at Honnouji, Ieyasu had a conflict with Toyotomi Hideyoshi, although he would submit to him later and let him unify the land. However, after Hideyoshi's death, Ieyasu felt that his time had come, thus he raised an army once again against the Toyotomi, and with the Battle of Sekigahara and Siege of Osaka won by him, Ieyasu had successfully unified Japan and established a shogunate. The peace under the Tokugawa bakufu would continue for about 250 years.

浅井 長政
Azai Nagamasa
1545 - 1573

He was first known as 浅井賢政 Azai Katamasa. Daimyo of 近江 Oumi and owner of the 小谷 Odani Castle. Son of 久政 Hisamasa. He was proposed by his father to marry the daughter of a 六角 Rokkaku retainer, however he rejected that. As a result, the Azai and Rokkaku broke into war. Eventually, the Azai were able to weaken the Rokkaku. Nagamasa would then assume control of the Azai, after his retainers forced Hisamasa to step down. He would then advance to Mino and clashed with the 斉藤 Saitou, while at the same time the Oda were also attacking the same region. Azai and Oda would form an alliance, with a note that if the Oda was to engage the 朝倉 Asakura, Azai's close ally, they should consult with the Azai first. From this alliance, Nagamasa married Nobunaga's sister, O-ichi.

However in 1570, Nobunaga attacked the Asakura. It is said that Nobunaga didn't even consult with the Azai, and thus Nagamasa decided to break the alliance despite his marriage with Ichi. The Azai-Asakura alliance would clash with the Oda several times, including in the battles of Anegawa and Usayama. The climax of this conflict was in 1573, when Nobunaga laid a siege on Odani. The Asakura were quickly decimated by Nobunaga in Echizen, so Azai was now isolated. Nagamasa had no more choices but to return Ichi and their three daughters to Nobunaga, while he and his son would commit seppuku inside the castle afterwards.

The Honganji were allied with the Uesugi and Mouri. But unfortunately, Uesugi Kenshin's death resulted in a civil war between his heirs, meanwhile the reinforcements from Mouri were decimated by the Oda at Kizugawa in 1578. Kennyo would then surrender in 1580. The complex was abandoned, but the temples in Kaga which were seized by Nobunaga were returned. In 1587, Kennyo was dispatched by Hideyoshi to Kyushu to rally his supporters prior to Hideyoshi's invasion. In 1591, Hideyoshi finally permitted Kennyo to build a new Honganji facility in Kyoto.
