So is anyone here currently playing DW2, 'cause I am . It's pretty fun game to play again after all these years. It's IMO also the most challenging DW. Even first stages (Yellow Turban Rebellion and Hu Lao Gate) are actually quite hard on Hard difficulty.

I never played it, but I watched when my roomie played it on his PS2. The crowds were quite big, from what I've seen, and it certianly looked fun to play.

Dude, you just took the words outta my mouth. I've had DW2 ever since it came out (it's what introduced me to the DW series) and I've never gotten around to finishing it. Let's see. In Normal mode, the Chi Bi stage is so difficult. IN NORMAL MODE. Geez. I even remembered using Lu Bu and still got murdered, assuming that I can take on thousands of soldiers seeing as I am the almighty Lu Bu. Boy, how dumb was I. The commander I was serving under (Liu Bei) had about 25% of his health by the time I got to him. I died from 'Commander Deafeated' :(

My first DW title.

I don't play it anymore since I lost my save though. Man, was I obsessed with Lu Xun back then. (I still think he looked the best back then) >.>

Funny how the next DW that I got into was DW4. DW3 looked extremely plain that it didn't seem worth my time.

I had a DW3 demo and was very fascinated by it. When I found Dynasty Warriors 2 in a store, I decided to buy it and liked it well... Until I bought Dynasty Warriors 5 two-three years later.

This was first DW as well. I found this game incredibly fun and I especially liked how it introduced the characters to me for the first time. My funnest level was in my first Musou mode when I was playing as Dian Wei and I was at Guan Du. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing on the level but I just kept charging out on my horse through the soldiers. I died in the end, but that was still one of my favorite experiences in the series.

Yeah, it shouldn't be rare game :).

Another good thing in DW2 was the lack of speed attribute. Characters like Xu Zhu and Dian Wei who currently are considered as slow characters in DW3 - 5, were equal in speed to characters like Zhao Yun and Lu Xun.

Agreed. I actually played DW2 for long time on Easy, because I couldn't survive on Normal. Later I got better and switched to Normal though. I rarely play on Hard because it's bad for building up your characters and is quite challenging. I only recommend it with maxed out characters.

I brough this game about 2 years ago at EB Games for about $10. The game is pretty crappy compare to DW3, 4, and 5 (well, no duh). I then sold it back to EB Games. :D

Someone who has played DW3, DW4 or DW5 before DW2, doesn't usually find DW2 that great and it's not surprise really >_>.

However, DW2 still surpasses other DWs in some categories, like in challenge.

Anyone playing DW2 can make the player lazy to finish it. The pace of the game is so damn slow. It's harder to have more than a thousand KOs because you'll find yourself running short of life. The buns doesn't appear as often.

actually, there are a lot of buns in this game. the officer's guards drop them all the time. unless you're playing on hard mode, which i think the guards don't do that.

In DW2 however, you can get meat buns from sergeant, majors and privates by doing enought combo. It also works in other DWs, but in DW2 it's the most easiest (I think 11 combo to sergeant is enought for one meat bun).

DW1 was my first DW game, and I wasn't really that into it. I preferred Soul Blade, but then when DW2 came out on the ps2 it looked interesting. I played it, and ever since I've been obsessed with ROT3K.

There's a certain charm that Dw2 had which is missing in the later games. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it must've been experiencing the story for the first time... Plus the thrill of developing your character to be able to beat Lu Bu, and later unlocking him. :P

Also, each level had a unique layout, particularly the Yellow Turban Rebellion and Hu Lao Gate. It was so cool to battle up the mountain on Hu Lao gate through the checkpoints and find a way behind the first brick wall to open it and allow the other armies to get through. Nowadays most of the maps are too open, and for the most part look too similar... And the missions are too short.

prolly how simple the game is. just go around and beat up ppl. no duels, items that power you up, etc.

DW2 was also my first DW game. One of the best things about this game, and DW3 too, was how easy it is to immerse yourself in the huge battles. On many occasions I would spend half an hour, maybe more, clearing a battle and not even realise how long it had taken. DW2 had some of the best maps: Yellow Turban Rebellion, Hu Lao Gate, Chi Bi, and Wu Zhang Plains were probably the best maps from DW2.

It's fun but you really get bored with the few combos you can do there. If they did a remake for DW2, no need to up the graphics, just add some more combos and I'd go for it rather than another DW4 version of the game
Takeda Katsuyori
Bio: Shingen’s son and Daimyo of Kai. He was less cautious than Shingen and, consequently was able to do things that Shingen could not. He kept the Takeda alive and fighting the Hojou, Tokugawa and Oda even after the Battle of Nagashino.
Perks: Total War (causes a lot of damage to buildings and enemy troops in siege battles when you're on the attacking side)
Legendary Charge: Samurai used by Katsuyori do more damage if this ability is used, but are slightly more susceptible to gunfire.
Spirit of Shingen: When Shingen is on the field, Katsuyori can use this skill to give him and Shingen a morale boost. If Shingen is dead, not on the field or defeated, Katsuyori can use this skill to give himself and one other general an offense boost.
