Just to make a final, obvious point as to why I'm so against Oichi's pink this time around and to make it clear that those that claim it to "have always been that way" must be blind or simply ignorant fo rthe sace of allowing no cirticsm on their beloved character...

SW 1 Oichi - a soft, pale rose combined with white - NOT an eyesore to me and at time I actually enjoyed playing her despite her horrible german dub -.-

SW 2 Oichi - matured, which was a plus, the pink more intense but still somewhat okay despite me hating the color, mixed with white and golden elements, as well as a touch of blue (probably for Azai) and a bit of purple (around her shouler)
This time it was her personality that was the major turn-off to me. I'll never grow fond of someone with a push-over personality.

SW 3 Oichi - the major reason why we had the beginnings of an argument, aside from the fact that some people seem unable to at least think about my words before instantly getting in to defend their poor bashed character from getting any critism.

BIRGHT PINK! In a way that I absolutly DOUBT was even possible at that time.
Put the three versions of her next to each other and tell me AGAIN that it IS the VERY SAME COLOR.
Also they pretty much took away the white elements, which could have actually made the effect less... eye-jumping. Personally I could have done without pink in the first place, but if she has to keep her trade-mark color, could it have not at least been more decent? Also if you click through all SW 3 charas so far revealed, you will find that not even a single other person has such a 'eye jumping'color.
She still has the blue lements - which I think is good and also some few golden ones. I'm not sure what the golden-blue thing on hr back is supposed to be. Maybe a cape? If so, I'd have cut it away instantly as well. A cape doesn't fit that design. At all. In my oppinion.

As a final conclusion I think Koei went overboard with the 'moderinsation' of her costume by using way to intense colors.
I've purposely only talked about Oichi's clothes at this point.

To me to make a bad-ass weapon like her new one in a pink of this is close to a personal insult. I've got a small fetisch for exotic weapons - another reason why I love the SW & DW series so much. A reason as to why I liked her old weapon a lot. But girly pink + bad-ass weapon => no go for me.

As for now I can only pray that there is an alternate costume for her that I can buy with points and don't have to unlock it by playing with her.

The only upside of her color?
No matter the weather/setting and amount of numbers of soldiers - Oichi I'll always spot right-on with that color. And I'll enjoy kicking her lovely behind each and every time.

I can't help but feel your antagonism is more directed at the colour pink, than Oichi. >_>

I find that a lot of female characters are bashed for their appearance, rather than their character. Surely women are meant to be heard, rather than just seen?

Remember that the characters are designed to cater for the video game audience... which is predominately by far, male. That's why you have so many video game characters in mini skirts and disproportioned body structures. =_= You can't blame the characters for how they are designed.

I found Oichi very intriguing in SW2: XL. Very pessimistic, but deep. xD What you get with a series like SW, with so many characters, is very little time and development with individual characters. Especially the women, who never really had a big historical role in wars.

However you'll also see that I've had my own reasons for liking or disliking Oichi in personality terms.

I hate brining SB into an SW topic, but just so you see the difference.
When I first saw SB Oichi - without knowing it was her - I thought she looked great, despite the pink-theme of her clothes. I still think she's nicely designed. Same goes for Mitsunari, whom I like even design wise despite the pink in his clothes.

The moment I watched SB Anime I was twitching at Oichi the whole time and was glad whenever she'd just shut up and fade back into the background.

Mitsunari on the other hand, despite initially blanching at the pink parts, managed to gain my favour despite my close to hate feeling for the color thanks to his personality and actions.

I'm not trying to convince you that Oichi is a horrible character. I'm just pointing out what made me despise her - mainly in SW2. I enjoyed playing her in SW 1 after all.

And in SW3 it really depends all on her personality. From the two revealed cutscenes she had with Nagamasa, she MIGHT actually make me enjoy her personality. But there is still the chance she might turn into a whiny crybaby.
There is also a HIGH possibility that I'll enjoy her moveset.
There is no possiblity that I'll enjoy her basic clothes design.

If personality + moveset + story can convince me, she might become one of my favourite characters - in an alternate outfit

I'm hoping that this makes it clear that I have no intention of bashing Oichi (well, except maybe her SW2 version and pink-intensity that seems to raise with her visual age), but am pointing out where she goes against MY personal preferences.


Btw. The line about the predominated males audience made me grin. I doubt SW fits in with that => who else do you explain all of those bishis, when most guys prefer 'MALE' guys like the Hojo one.


However, if you could explain to me just what Oichi said or did to make her 'deep' to you in SW2, I'd be most intrigued. Especially since it's exactly the opposite of the word I came up with when thinking about her SW2 personality -> flat.

Eh. She's alright. And fyi, getting hit with a stone/iron ball hurts....a lot. While it may look like a toy, I assure you, it can kick some ass with a few "modifications". Add a spike here, and an iron ball there... Pwnage.

And yes, she is hot. >.>;

WAS exactly meant to be refering to the extreme, intensive use of bright pink.
And when I brought THAT up, I was told that she'd always been 'that way' which is not true.

Perhaps I didn't point it out obviously enough, but I guess that's that.
And I regard others oppinions. Just not when they are being blind like I felt in this case. I was close to making a color table where I'd put all three pink main colors next to each other and ask if they still felt that 'It's the same'.


Trying not the be influenced by the design... well, that's kind of impossible. At least to me. It's not absolute, but usually when I have an 'instant hate' or 'instant love' feeling when spotting a character it turns out to be the same personality-wise.
