Does anyone else believe he should be portrayed as a straight up homosexual? It shouldn't bother anyone cause he's already COMPLETELY effeminate and considered by most to be "gay", and it very well could be the first well known video game you could play as a homosexual (that I'm aware of anyway). Also it'd help with his character development if you truly got an idea for how truly strong his feelings for his Lord are. -shrugs- I just think it'd be interesting. |

That would be stretching it. There were some homosexuals during that era, being that samurai were only groups of men. But some, like Ranmaru, did it only to advance their standing in their clan. Not that he wasn't a talented individual for the most part, but he did what he had to do to earn Oda's favor. Its said that his quick rise to favor is what caused Mitsuhide to revolt in the first place. But not sure how true that is. So I say portray him as a bit more masculine, but still young though. But show his willingness to do anything to advance his name. THat may give risings to KOEI actually giving him some ambition like another Masamune. |

homosexuality has always been apart of the world we live in, it's just been more accepted and less stigmatized in just about every other culture than ours. there have been many famous folks that have been gay. it's just not that big of a deal anymore. Ranmaru was VERY feminine looking historically, i have never read anywhere that he claimed his sexuality(whichever way he REALLY went), however Shudo was more than common in the Japanese feudal era, and practitioners of Shudo were neither shunned or reviled. it just WAS. as far as Mitsuhede's defection it just seems that the combonation of Nobunaga's fondness for Ranmaru, disrespect and outright rudeness to Mitsuhede, and the fact that he did'nt raise a finger to save Mitsuhede's mother, when he could've, and Ranmaru's own icy disdain and slander against him...may have sent Mitsuhede over the edge. i say give him his story back and leave Ranmaru the way he is, i liked the SW2 model alot, just give him some trousers. |

Absolutely no trousers. I like his "skirt" deal. Does wonders for his legs. :lol: I'd like to see his moveset be more quick and fluid. He attacks too much like Mitsuhide right now. Slow, powerful and wide swings. It works for one..but not both. |

well, they could be tights for all i care, i just think it's time for a bit of dignity in "Nobunaga's second favorite concubine". he's been "pant-less" for a bit now, i'd just like a different outfit for a change, i think facially and body-type wise he looked great in SW2. maybe something more like Mitsuhede's 2nd in SW1(minus the FLARES), he's a teenage guy, an accomplished one, but still a boy. as far as MS goes, i FAR prefer Ranmaru to Mitsuhede, if one of them gets a changed MS i'd rather it be Mitsuhede. RM's STRONG MS and power are what make him "more respectable" in all the haters eyes. let him keep it, i'd like to see Akechi with flashier sword play anyway. |

Hm..that's a good point. MS do make a difference. My rather..homophobic friend who I play DW with actually likes Zhang He because of his MS and how awesome his stats are in all Three Kingdom based games. He however has never TRIED Ranmaru in SW, though he might change his tune of "swearing him off" if he saw the damage he could do. |

I like Ranmaru's MS the way it it also, much better in SW2 compared to the more linear C4 he had in SW1. Even his slightly slow attack speed is okay considering he's swinging a Nodachi thats as tall as he is, its a bit of realism. Definitely prefered him to Mitsuhide in 1, but in 2 Mitsuhide owns as a Normal attack type. But I hope Ranmaru's new move in SW2XL does him justice, thats assuming they didn't neglet him altogether like last game. <_< |

Gah! Moo! Anyone else mad that Ranmaru's LV3 musou got changed in this?! Now it's stupid arrows instead of blades! WHY KOEI?! WHY?! I'm sorry for the double post but I'm just doing this because no one has posted in this for a while. I created my own characters and now I'm creating Story Modes for them and I actually incoporated Ramnaru in one of the characters Story Modes. (Tetorigawa) I thought it was cool to have him there.  I showed a pic of him to my friend and lol it was crack up xD I havent unlocked him in SW2 but I did in Warriors Oroch and his moveset is pretty kool. |

They also gave him useless C5. Since Demon element was nerfed, you can't even finish off officers with it and get a cool slow motion KO >_>. |

I know right. His slash special in SW2 was great for dramatic effect, now its just useless because of the Death element nerf. His new C5 is hard to aim anyway, and the element makes it even more useless. Well I can always reflect on his WO evilness |

I saw a character biography on him before SW was released and when I read it, all I could say was "Its a guy!" :wacko: Well, hes still one of my favorite characters in SW, especially the large sword he wields!

agreed, to that. also i think it's odd that they choose to make his "i don't want to hurt you." quote all creepy, mechanical and echo-y. i still LOVE the SW2 character design for Ranmaru and am glad it's possibile to play as him even if it is in free mode. i am hoping KOEI see the sense in giving his Musou back for SW3, as he's one of my favorite characters. LDZ, you and i have discussed before that it would be good to include the arrogant elitest streak that he had historically, and expound on his friendship/relationship with Nobunaga, and his adversary relationship with Mitsuhede. i find it humorous that with all the fictional turns KOEI has been taking, that they would use the "so little was factually known about his life that his Musou would be another follow Nobunaga about tale..." when there are so many tales of his baiting Mitsuhede, and conspiring with Nobunaga. surely enough to make a Musou for him, other characters have far less to recommend them. |

Yes, his dialog seems super-speedy I've noticed. Its kind of annoying though because the first time I played that stage, I had to read the text quickly since I didn't understand what he was so hyper about. By playing certain stages with him, as you probably know foomin, you can basically use those stages and make them act as his story. Like Honoji for instance. Also, I found out that Ranmaru has unique dialogue at Okehazama. Both near the start and talking with Nobunaga at the end. I suppose its worth killing Yoshimoto for, right?  It makes me think: what if Koei actually gave him a story mode but later took it out for Xtreme Legends, but then decided to keep him for SW3 instead? With his text in Okehazama, Koei have made it even more clear that SW2 and XL were one game at one point and were just split for the money difference. |

The Young Page . I like his personality as well as his moveset . Being a loyal retainer to the Oda fits his outstanding moveset . I like the weapon also . I love his musou because you can easily kill the enemies surrounding you . Very neat .

Just like Mitsuhide, his special death strike sucks now.
 To add even more pain, his Musous weaker to, arrows instead of sickle shaped blasts. Koei had to kill off one of my favorites. :angry: |

GREAT MOVESET & PERSONALITY He is one of my favorite characters in SW1.. and still my favorite in SW2  His moveset is good,but too bad it's a little bit too slow.. he has the best musou in SW series n_n |
