The timelines in WO/WO2 can change the characters personality such as Zhuge Liang trusts Wei Yan, Sima Yi joins Orochi and then he joins Nobunaga... :XD

I absolutely love him in every way. I don't care if he can't speak properly. He's totally awesome! He is the character I have tried to unlock first in every game he's been in. He's amazingly fun, his musou may be hard to use but it clears a very big space in crowds, and his special in WO, the fireball, is great just to spam.

The Shu army needed at least one member to stand out from its ranks. And that character is Wei Yan.

I like him because as he defected in DW4, he saved Huang Zhong's life in the process by killing the commander who was going to execute him. Even though Zhuge Liang was wary of his loyalty, Liu Bei still trusted the berserker. That's why Wei Yan tries so hard to prove himself to Liu Bei and the rest of Shu.

The barbaric, animal skins costume portrays him as the guy you don't want to piss off, as you could be the next addition to that medley of skins. It was interesting to see him with dreadlocks in DW5, and then with super dreadlocks in DW6. As to what he looks like behind the mask, if you look very carefully at the last two pics of his WO2 gallery, he's just an simple, ordinary looking man.

I don't like his club in DW6. They should've left him his double voulge, but make more deadly looking.
Prepare for a laugh!

A good comparison video for Orochi and Shin Orochi.

Wei Yan is my favorite Shu character, and I am not happy with his being a clone with that stinking club in DW6. In DW7, since Koei seems intent on not giving his double voulge back given the double viper blade weapon Zhang Fei now uses, they should give Wei Yan a meteor hammer (an actual chinese weapon that has a chain or rope connecting two heads, which were set on fire by the more skilled users, hence the name) to use. This would allow him to get his old spinning moves back, along with enhanced range and power, as well as some new moves pertaining to the real techniques associated with meteor hammer usage (and wouldn't it be awesome for the mace heads to become enflamed during certain attacks?)

I hated Zhuge Liang for treating Wei Yan like an animal. He's always like "Wei Yan, I don't trust you. Stay away from our lord." And in Warriors Orochi, who's the one defending one of Shu's castles? Wei Yan.

And who decided to switch sides? Zhuge Liang. Although, he kinda had to.

In the next installments of Dynasty Warriors, they should give him a more unique alternate outfit. Like all of his armor/mask off? And he just wears like a robe or something; something common. But I find it funny how Masumune Date made fun of him. He was like "Is that really the extent of your vocabulary?"

Wait, when did Masamune make fun of Wei Yan?! I must hear this. *is a big Yanners fan*

He's the onle redeeming factor of Shu (at first, then came Yue Ying...)

Huh... whenever I get my game back I'll have to listen for that. I always ending up killing Masamune before I get much discussion out of him. Thanks, I'll give it a try.

The way Wei Yan looks and his personalities makes him stand out the most against the rest. His DW5 & WO's moveset is alright. I don't like his DW6 moveset much.

He looks some kind of a lizard in DW6. So I am really looking forward to his SF look. He probably turn into a mini dinosaur

Wei Yan is definitely a great, and fun character to use in the recent games. I love his Warriors Orochi/Dynasty Warriors 5 moveset, and the Club moveset in Dynasty Warriors 6 is pretty awesome. In my opinion, his attacks in the game are better than Xu Zhu's,if not equal.

However,I would like to see him get a new weapon. Two characters with the same moveset is enough.Let's just leave them to Xu Zhu and Huang Gai.Minotaur Lance had a good idea.

I lovee his design in DW6, for one. He's always been fun to play in the past series of games, but he's always looked kind of silly. Caveman look for caveman words. Now he looks like a full blown raging demon. I hope in DW7 he has a similar look, and a beastly weapon, not that damn wierd bell-club thing...and not the double voulge either, I want something unique.

Death should be painless, shouldn't it!?

Argh, so up and down about Wei Yan. He was one of my favorite's in DW3, forgetable in 4, dropped in 5 and flopped again in DW6. DW3 was Yans highlight. I really like his history side overall and he is made to be quite unique among Shu. Then I thought how silly (I sound so old) things really were. I really like this guys, but to put it simply, if he wasn't such an exxagerated retarded brute then he would be so up there, again :XD .

I'm going to discuss Pre-DW6 Wei Yan, as I disliked him in DW6.

I don't think he should ever remove the mask. Ever. It's like V from
'V for Vendetta', the mask IS the character. Without that mask, all the mysticism and intimidation of this character would dissappear.
Wei Yan is a fantastic character. Shu, sadly, has some very generic generals. Wei Yan however (along with Mr Tong) stand out because of how remarkably different they are. They both use acrobatic, unorthodox, effective fighting styles. They both have a unique personality, and they both have a very... unique ways of speaking.
Pang Tong and Wei Yan should NEVER removes their masks. Please?

Yan has a great moveset, which matches his personality perfectly. It's ferocious, wild and unpredictable.

I think what Wei Yan needs to make his character all the more special, is a story mode that demonstrates his loyalty to Shu, and his friendship with Huang Zhong. Perhaps give him a tragic storyline, like dying at the end, or cradling a dead Zhong in his arms. Just something to show all the emotion beneath that mask.

I think this guy's the most weirdest guy in all Dynasty Warriors cause he always dresses up as some kind of freak of nature. His fighting style is kinda hard to use but he's way of thinking is just wierd

He's pretty good. Good moveset, sweet design, but i just wish he didn't that have that stupid-ass speech impediment crap going on.

Is it just me or is he weaker in WO? :/

If he spoke more like Kimahri did in FFX, I think more fans would tolerate him more. I don't care that he talks like a barbarian- makes him unique among characters. But what I can't stand is the damn space between each word and how the English voice actor (sorry Lex Lang, love you forever) SCREAMS out every word. It's not intimidating- IT'S ANNOYING.

So if he just, you know, not pull a damn THIS ..... IS................ SPARTA with his speech, more players wouldn't feel the need to hit the mute button when he roars.

Example of Kimahri--- > Here

There -IS- a volume control on the brute. Somewhere. I bet it's his nose but no one feels safe poking it.
