Characters in Koei MMOs Posts: 701 Group: Moderators Member #3,741 Joined: October 13, 2006 Gender Male	Sakon: This has now become a general Kessen help thread, ask for any help regarding the games here, all prior help topics are now merged. ---------- Helllo, everyone. I had not been here for like months now. Well, I am not really busy, but I am just too busy on playing Kessen III. Here is the situation... Playthrough: 1st Time -> Normal Current: Chapter 8 - The Rebellion of Kunigoshi (Minor) [Only The Final Battle of Ishiyama is left after this one...] Hours: 59th Hour in Game Clock (Real = 3x of this... Rampage + Retry often for S and missing items) # of Retry on This Battle: 4 times already... >< (Got S all 4, but I need item!) Situation: Well, the item that I need to get from this stage is "General's Armor." However, I read 2 guides in GameFAQs and done both methods... I am still not able to get that armor (I got only the rest 4 items). Method I: EChang's Method - Do not allow enemies near ally home base. Method II: s20mike's Method - Destroy all of the enemy camps without letting a single one of your Stockades get attacked. What I Did? Squads: Kenji (Mount Spear), Takatora (Mount Bow), Otsune (Katana first 2 tries, Ninja last 2), Dominico (Rifle), and Goemon (Ninja) I Did... P. Traget Set = Kenji goes to hit east unit and Otsune goes to hit north unit. 1. Make Goemon as a separate unit. 2. Gale Goemon 3. Gale Otsune 4. Control Goemon and move as soon as possible to hit unit at south. 5. Otsune got first hit, control her, and defeat for first kill. 6. Set Otsune target to officer at northeast. 7. Control Goemon and defeat that unit. Then, target him to southwest for item #1. 8. By now, Kenji should defeat the east unit one. Stay there. 9. Control Otsune and kill that north unit. 10. Goemon acquired item (Kunitomo Rifles), intercept to east coming unit. 11. Gale Otsune and finish that east unit. 12. Otsune destorys southeast camp and the rifle unit on that area. 13. Go north, intercept the unit coming to south and defeat that unit. 14. Kill Unit Leader, Unit Officer, and the camp in north-center of the map. 15. Order Goemon to northeast to get item #2. 15. Gale and go west. Destory that rifle unit there. 16. Destory cannons, and destory the camp at northwest. 17. Goemon acquired item (Tenets of the Diviner) 18. Finish that rifle unit... Total Officers Defeat: 12 Rank: S (All 4) Score: 387, 382, 384, 350 (Only time is not 100) Item Acquired: Red Lacquered Ichinotani (Rank S) Mounted Kai Spears (Rank A) Tenets of the Diviner (Northeast Box) Kunitomo Rifles (Southwest Box) Gold Earned: About 14000 ~ 20000 (Otsune's Rampage with Chojuin Chestnut Horse - All items turn into to Gold Boxes) Promotion: Otsune -> 1st Class General (if she defeated 10 units) I am stuck for whole day. The allied camp not even touch by enemies, yet I did not get that armor! I don't know how far away from the camp to enemies to get item, but I think I did as far as I can. 	My First Signature in KW... This is the best internet speed (to connect a Japanese Server) that I can get... Connect to JP Server = 175 ms - 198 ms at this speed. However, at night in USA, my internet never get this good speed...

I am sorry for 2x post, but if I do continuous post, then this message will look like I played on the same day. Kay... Since I am impatient, I did 2 more retries today (Sunday, March 11th, 2007) and I finally GOT the General's Armor. I don't know I think that I have to keep the leader base last, so I retry again and again. The stupid thing is... NONE of these two methods really lead to the armor! The keep enemies away from base's method is wrong, since I got the armor even one of the Unit Officer's Unit TOUCH the base! The destory all 3 bases' method is also wrong, since I destory ONLY ONE on the northwest base and I got it! Test Trial Step: Same set armies as the first 2 yesterday's tries (Otsune's Unit was Katana). Same Pre-Targets Same steps from # 1 - 7, but no target to item, since I just do a trial. 8. Control Otsune and destory the rifle unit on northwest. 9. Destory barriers and cannons. 10. Destory the camp at northwest AND that's when I GOT that armor right after I destory that camp! One unit ALREADY TOUCH the allied camp...and restart the game to play for real. What I Did Today? Again... Same set armies as the first 2 yesterday's tries (Otsune's Unit was Katana). Same Pre-Targets Same steps from # 1 - 7, but this time get the item too. ALSO... 8. Kenji DID NOT defeat his east unit, did 2 Rampages and keep unit confuse and run away! 9. Control Otsune and kill the north unit and ALSO come to finish the east unit that Kenji left off! (Just in case that Otsune may not get the promotion) 10. Rush and defeat the east-going-west unit. 11. Go all the way back to that northwest rifle unit in fron of barrier and defeat that unit in the corner. 12. Separate Dominico & Otsune apart, so Dominico will not get the damage because he follows Otsune and get hits by cannons. 13. Destory the barriers, cannons, and the northwest base to get THAT ARMOR! 14. By now, the northeast Unit Officer going south then west to hit the camp. 15. Still on Otsune, destory that rifle unit nearby destoryed-northwest-camp. 16. Gale Otsune and come south WITHOUT destory another barriers and cannons. 17. By now, that Officer Unit meet Kenji (waiting at east of the base) and I did 3 Rampages to that unit to get confuses and wait for Otsune to come. 18. Block, block, block and Otsune comes to finish that unit (with another Rampage for money). 19. Gale Otsune and control Otsune to southeast camp and destory unit there. 20. At the same time, set Dominico's target to get item at northeast. 21. Gale Otsune and finish the leader's camp at the center-north of the map. Gerrr... So, today, Otsune defeated 11 units and Goemon defeated another unit! Unlike yesterday, where Kenji and Goemon defeated one unit each and Otsune defeated the rest 10 units. Summary: Total Officers Defeat: 12 Rank: S Score: 378 (Time = 7:20 for 78) Item Acquired: Red Lacquered Ichinotani (Rank S) Mounted Kai Spears (Rank A) Tenets of the Diviner (Northeast Box) Kunitomo Rifles (Southwest Box) AND General's Armor! (Err... destorys Northwest Base) Gold Earned: 25,936! (Otsune's Rampage with Chojuin Chestnut Horse - All items turn into to Gold Boxes AND I did more Rampages then yesterday!) Promotion: Otsune -> 1st Class General (She defeated 11 units) Because of this armor, I have to do a lot of retries and stuck for 2 days. Finally, I am able to move on to The Final Battle of Ishiyama to finish Chapter 8. However, after this battle, my game clock hit 60:00 on this first walkthrough (and 3x of that, heh). <_< Pictures: From left to right: 1. The score on final try. 2. The armor that I retried to get for. 3. Otsune got promotion in this battle. From left to right: 1. EXP & Level UP for officers in this battle. 2. Otsune after this battle. She equipped the Bodhi Juzu to change into "Hero" class. This means that I got S on Chpater 6 "The Final Battle of Mikawa!" 3. Stat & Money I got. Oh by the way, to complete the catalogue's section, do I have to play Expert's level to get Oichi and get her suits? Because in Koei's forum, there is the catalogue's list and the last piece of armor and helmet are from Oichi. I guess, I have a long way to go... Current Scroll (as 1st Walkthrough before The Final Battle of Ishiyama): Overall = 74% + Biographies = 83% + Battle List = 57% + Catalogue = 79% ++ Armor = 67% (78/114) ++ Helmet = 82% (68/82) ++ Weapons = 74% (40/54) ++ Accesories = 93% (70/75) ++ Horses = 90% (18/20) + Movie Gallery = 59% ++ Missing: -> Chapter 3 = 1 -> Chapter 4 = 2 -> Chapter 6 = 1 -> Chapter 7 = 3 -> Chapter 8 = 5 + Auditorium = 96% -> Missing: Song # 30 (What is that?) Oh and if you wonder how much I got by now? Gold = 242,789! [Before buy items for the final battle...Thanks to that Gold Boxes' Horse!] I think mod can close this, but if there is no such help topic to Kessen III before, then keep it on. I have only 4 battles left for Chapter 12 and finish the game... However, from EChang's FAQ in GameFAQ said at the end of Chapter 12... Quote: Once you finish the ending, you'll be able to save a sort of "New Game+" to your memory card. This starts automatically in Chapter One, so don't overwrite a save file you want to keep. See the Tips and FAQs section for more details on what goes on in New Game+. So this means that if I want to start the New Game+ with all stuffs, I cannot overwrite the save file that I want to keep FOREVER? (Like after I load the save file from New Game+, while I am playing on 2nd walkthrough with New Game+, I cannot use (overwrite) that save file anymore to keep all items) And another question from last post: To complete the catalogue's section, do I have to play Expert's level to get Oichi and get her suits? On Play 2, you can save over Play 1 and you'd still have everything. But... you won't be able to keep data such as officer levels, officers obtained from Play 1 because it will keep updating it as you progress through Play 2. if that makes sense? And I think Oichi is available on Hard mode, but not until Chapter 8. Her outfits as well I believe are available on Hard. Don't quote me on that, but I don't remember having to wait 3 play throughs to get her.

Do they actually give you more troops or is it just a title? Also how do you increase it? I never knew how I did on some of my generals.

Kessen III Instruction Book p27 Rank: Determines the number of troops you lead. Rank may increase if the officer gains glory on the battlefield (such as by defeating the enemy commander). What I have noticed however, is if you use one officer near exclusively in one battle they are very likely (the exact officers to defeat etc I haven't figured out) to gain a promotion in rank. The Ido Tea Bowl accessory can also 'boost' this possibility as well. Although, it only boosts overall Troops by 200 each promotion (Captain > 3rd Class General > 2nd Class General, Etc), so I ended up not really bothering about it too much. I'd focus more on having decent Troops types with the officer and high stats via Equipment & Rampage. Hope that helps, and nice to see another Kessen; and Toshiie fan here as well.

I just hate how my Toshiie Maeda is only a 2nd class general and not a 1st class. I wanna get him up and I even equipt him with the tea bowl. I got Amalia on there somehow and I use her less than him. I got her up in a minor battle but she was the leader because I rarely use Nobunaga on minor battles unless my other generals are all on good and wounded. Is 1st class the highest rank anyone can achieve aside from Nobunaga?

I believe so, I'd have to check through my game and officers on a complete file to see if there is otherwise from my experiences. Oh, and good idea not to use Nobunaga in Minor Battles, he wastes too much exp in those since you have to use him in all the other battles. But yeah, unfortunately I don't know precisely what actives the promotions; I looked into it for a while and gave up on it. I mean 200 Troops doesn't make much difference anyway; I'd personally focus more on STA/Defence over it.

So my question is can you actually unlock her and if so how?^^ Thanks :]

Although some people are saying even after beating the level (chapter 8 I think?) she still isn't unlocked even at hard so I was confused..

I was under the impression that you cannot unlock her...just look at her in the game. She is not designed for battle based on that, and I've not come across her as unlockable. I may be wrong, but I've played the hell out of the game and never made her playable. If at any time it would be possible it may be after Nagamasa surrenders her back to the Oda army to Shibata...but I'm doubtful.

She joins druing Chapter 8. After this topic has come up I've been searching for that answer myself. Echangs elaborate guide on GameFAQ's states that Echangs guide on GameFAQs "Oichi ... Joins during Chapter 8, only on Advanced difficulty.." Note: I imagine Advanced = Expert on the English version. So there you go, I'm a little surprised it's true...but Echang is one of the best guide writers around so I can't disagree with him. I still however will love to see it for myself, she probably has unique initial equipment which is the reason I can't complete my catalogue as well. >.< As for me, I have a file ready to start Expert as I saved the carry over file from completing Hard. I just done the first mission and even in it the enemy units have increased...thankfully you have tonnes of carry over skills etc to make up for it. So I guess I'm scrapping my 2nd hard replay for Expert...no idea if I'll get the time to finish it though, I'll see how I go!

Tiger General Posts: 555 Group: Members Member #5,956 Joined: March 8, 2007	Oichi does indeed appear during Ch8 on expert. I've cleared K3 about 6 times now, and yes I've played her - she IS there. She's a pretty good addition to the ranks too - some good skills, and quite strong. She also has a pretty hair ribbon and pink kimono And she's involved in the story later on if you unlock her too. It's very small, but she's there and it's nice to see.

Can someone tell me how to unlock movies #097, #099 and #106? They are all in Chapter 9. Thanks in advance guys/girls

Note: Major Battles per Chapter: Chapter 1: None Chapter 2: 3 of 3 Chapter 3: 1 of 2 Chapter 4: 2 of 3 Chapter 5: None Chapter 6: 2 of 3 Chapter 7: 2 of 3 Chapter 8: 2 of 4 Chapter 9: 2 of 3 Chapter 10: None Chapter 11: 3 of 3 Chapter 12: None Chapter 13: None (Hard and Expert difficulty only) What that means in one single playthrough you can only attempt that many Major missions, so it's quite possible there is a mission or two you have never done before. This will therefore prevent you from having watched every movie in the game as yet. You can check this against the Battle List in the Scrolls option, once you have a rating on every battle in both normal and hard you should then have unlocked every movie as well. Whichever ones you have either one/or none in means they need to be completed. Hopefully that can help you target what needs to be done.

I mean my Amalia is higher level then Toshiie and their troop types both come with the same number of troop but Toshiee has almost 2000 more troops then Amalia and he is a rank above her does that have anything to do with it?

Posts: 3,638 Group: Members Member #9,265 Joined: August 19, 2007 Gender Male	Troop numbers are mainly determined by the Troop Type, purchase a few different types and swap them around will have the greatest effect on your total. The Rank doesn't change your total troops much at all, as I said above only 200 troops per rank, the troop type is what has the greatest influence on the total. Edit: I've merged a few topics and this is now a general game help thread, and pinned.

I'm well on my way through my second playthrough, and I discovered that I yet again missed out on the Chapter 2 and 3 Merchant items (Peon's Armor, etc.) and I'm starting to have a hard time figuring out just which items I'm missing (2 weapons, one of which I know is in Chapter 13, for instance, although if I had to guess at what the other one is it's the 3rd Washizaki; ten armors beside the four in Chapter 13, etc.). I didn't realize I had to collect accessories, too, which is kind of annoying. EDIT: I found an item list. EDIT 2: Are you serious? Can you ONLY get Chapter 9 Post-Battle (part 1) movies from Normal mode only?

I put it in my console, and it didn't work, the PS2 loading screen didn't even come up, my console just made strange noises. So, I bought another copy, and to my horror, it still did not work. Now you might think it was the PS2, but I tried it on another PS2, and they both did not work. I don't know what to do, any help and/or advice is very much appreciated.

I don't know what to do, any help and/or advice is very much appreciated. Strangely this exact thing happens with MY copy. It's not scratched or dirty. Damn near looks brand new. It use to work...it just won't even start up. It sounds like the disc won't start moving. Alas every other game I have works just fine. I have yet to put it in my PS3 though.
