Neither could I, I'd be embarassed to say the least.

I would feel uncomfortable myself lol.

But its a lot of fun. I'll try to find pics and post them.

I'm sure your right, but trying it for the first time is the hard thing. ^_^

And in the UK, where I believe both me and LittleDragon live, people probably don't know who the hell you are trying to be, which adds to the embarassment.

Exactly, the faces are enough to deter you from wanting to do it.

Hey, what's that low self-confidence, n00bzpwnu ^_~? By the way, what counts more is the accuracy of your costume, so please take a pic of your cosplay and share it with us if you want, we'll be glad to see it =)!

I 'used to have' a home-made Zhang Liao DW5 costume, looks really nice and neat too, but when I was not in my room in a dorm and I got to move out (because the owner is selling the property), some guys came in and throw my stuffs out of the room and totally trashed my Zhang Liao's costume I made with my brothers with blood and tears (figurative speech). Curse those guys...

I'm looking for a Motochika cosplay online. If I can't find one by June I'm gonna have to start sewing. Damn Otakon and it sneaking up on me.

Whoa whoa whoa. A cosplay thread that I haven't spammed my Zhang He outfit in? :P Click for full size. And yes, that was me featured on destructoid.com back in October. ;)

This picture was taken at Otakon 2006. I made everything but the leotard (purchased) and wig (commissioned). I have a DW5 Zhu Rong to finish...eventually...but work and other hobbies keep getting in the way.

Wow, very nice costumes! I like how the Yue Ying cosplayer added a bit of her own style to the costume with the lacey sleeves, very cool.
I actually saw her Yue Ying costume on DeviantArt and I also know her from the Dynasty Warriors Oekaki Board. ... it's kinda nice how close the KOEI fan community is.

Also Lu Xun and SSX look great, SSX is really hard to pull off. Such a complicated outfit.

Wow, a lot of nice costumes here. When Fanime-Con was near where I live, my buddy went and he said there was a few really good DW costumes. I'll see if I can get any pics and I'm thinking about cosplaying as DW6 Lu Bu next year, but I don't know what to make the armor and quad-halbred out of. Any suggestions and the like would be greatly appreciated.

the koei cosplay scene in arizona is REALLY quiet... and i'm not sure if it's so popular in california either... oh well, i'll try to break it in.
good job on the cosplays btw.

my biggest koei cosplay dream:

i really want to cosplay as mori ranmaru. but i can't find anyone who sells his outfit... and i'm horrible at making costumes (currently in the middle of making a byakuya kuchiki outfit), at least i think so. meh, i'll probably have to commission it. =)
and even after i get my hands on a ranmaru costume, i'll have a ton of prep work: a) lose weight, B) grow out my hair, c) find a suitable weapon-prop (i think i might already have one), and d) find enough confidence to go out in short shorts... (lol)
AND THEN, to finish my dream, i want to find someone (preferably a future boyfriend :P ) who will go with me as oda nobunaga. and i'll probably want a nohime to finish the group, but personally... i'm ok without a nohime, if you know what i mean... (LOL)
wish me luck in fulfilling this dream! :)

(my next dream in line is to cosplay zhou yu with a group of friends as sun ce, da qiao, and xiao qiao)
ummm... i need a signature...? help me? lol.

Wow you live in Arizona as well? I goto school at ASU and they have some crazy Cosplay events for the Japanese Media Society sometimes, but it's nothing too big. Arizona is pretty dead with cosplaying. Seems people just want to get drunk, party and shoot guns!

I so want to cosplay one of these days.

I had an estimate on a private party company making a SW2 Hanzo Hattori outfit, and it was well over $2,000!! But, it included real armor and material.

Everything is just too expensive... -_-

@ The Mighty Lu Bu & Hanzo Hattori: For armor, you could use Sintra. It's a type of plastic that a lot of Star Wars costumers use for Mandalorian armor. It's thin and sold in sheets, so all you have to do it cut out pieces, then heat it up and mold it into the shape you want.
Though if you're serious about it you'll have to do a lot of your own research as I know very little about it.
Just Google it and I'm sure you could find a lot of info.
And if you're really serious about cosplaying, I'd recommend joining a cosplay community like cosplay.com, they have forums their where you can ask questions to more experienced costumers.

Also, for a more inexpensive method, I've seen people make samurai armor out of a plastic trash cans before.

Cans, eh? Sounds silly but actually now that I think about it, very efficient! Thank you for the suggestions Manji. I am almost tempted to spend a alot for high quality, but who knows if it really is a good quality unless they tell you upfront.

EDIT: I checked out that cosplay site and found Manji's page. It is looks incredible and you look amazing in it!! Overall though, it looks promising and I will research this further so thank you for the site!

ha ha... yeah, well i just moved to california tho... but i'll definitely try to go back to az for cons. anyway, i just went to a con in arizona called saboten con. it was all the way out in peoria (it was an hour drive...) and cons always seem to be just about the partying, the smoking, the drinking, and just getting wild. don't get me wrong, they're really fun, but even at my first comicon in arizona, i didn't quite think that was how they were supposed to be... lol.

so have you been to any other big conventions in arizona, jsun?
