The bible promotes many good things like slavery,sexism, racism, and violence. That's exactly what we want to teach people. {sarcasm}

I'd totaly get into that but i'll stay on topic. It's that damn rap music that makes young kids want to lose there virgiinity.

I resent that. It's more your environment than music. I've been listening to rap since I was like 8 and it didn't make me want to have sex. It's more likely that it just causes people to say things that they shouldn't.

I really don't think you're listening to the real rap.

Trust me I've heard it. Whether I wanted to or not. ;)

Sigh, Rap doesn't cause people to want to lose their viginity, I've personally only heard something so ridiculous come out of the mouth of KoW.

I don't like rap much.
Anyways, I think it's a need to fit in. One popular kid does it, then their friends start doing it, so then all the "cool" kids are screwing each other, so the others will do it just to fit in and try to be like the popular kids.
I don't know...it's just a thought from what I've noticed.

Now that I actually jump out of the bubble of laziness, I guess I'll explain it now.

I think it should be generally said that people change with the times. Government, technology, new sciences, ETC all contribute to soceity one way or another. In the 1950's, teens had started their own sort of social group. This time was the beginning of when we started to seperate teens and adults in the social sense. I would believe this was caused due to the fact that people were getting new technology{toasters, cars, and jukeboxes are some of the things to mention here} and this would change soceity as it was. Because these new technologies had made life more easier and convenient, thus people had more time to do other things and thus teens had developed their own thoughts of the matters of the world. Since the government was big on democracy, this kind of thing was allowed and people had no fear of doing these things. Of course, many traditionist people had opposed many of these new social ideals and of course they hated Elvis Presley for his manner of dress and presentation.

These views eventually became political, as the baby boom struck in the 40's and 50's and had brought more youths in soceity then older people. These young people in the 60's/70's{also known as "hippies"} had shown more political interest{The Cold War} had been VERY open with their oppinions. Since these hippies disliked the way the government had done things, they had dressed in bright colors and females dressed in jeans which the older people had seen as a bad thing. These kind of people took in A LOT of the population as, I stated earlier, the baby boom had produced numerous young people for this age. The reason why they did this was to prevent themselves from conforming with soceity that has been for numerous centuries. They wanted change, they wanted the war and hate between people to end. So they saw that dressing and acting in this manner as a way to get attention from those who did conform with soceity and to say out loud "war is wrong! We don't want anymore hate!"

You see, it was the government's allowance of free speech that these people had come around. Eventually, these people had shown much hatred for war that it sometimes had caused much violence. This is the exact reason why the US withdrew from Vietnam, as the people of the United States showed great dislike for the war. Which was awkward, because people usually just followed the government and the doctrine usually was "if the government says it's right, then it's right." People then shot in other issues like women rights and objections against racism. It was because of this social movement that people actually bothered to listen and to agree with Martin Luther King Jr's "I had a dream" speech.

I think we owe these hippies a lot, as it was because of this movement that the government was less active against Russia and that women/other ethnic groups are treated equal today.

When we got into the 80's, media had started to become much more indulged. People had changed the soceity they use to live in, now that the old doctrines of the old soceity was being ignored, people had felt free to do more things with the media and thus sexuality was thrown into it. Since people don't have to worry about the old responsibilities and expected behaviours anymore, they felt the need to think more about sexuality and thus sex became more of a pop culture thing. I would say that it's not something I really condone, but I think it's a lot better then women having no rights and being raped without it being illegal.

Of course, this cultural form had lead up to what we know as our culture today. With the add-ons like the internet and video games with the added popular jokes like the Chuck Norris "facts" idea.

You see, freedom of speech and technology is what lead us to what we are today.

In my community:

You are a nerd if you don't lose your viriginity when you're 16. There's quite a lot of tension in peer pressure and pressure of other things.

Not everyone is as strong minded as you though, I agree, dont get me wrong, but not everyone can take it or shrug it of.

I agree. The music that kids listen to is all about sex. Of course its ok for 16 year old kids, legal kids (where I am anyway), but for 12-14 year olds, they spend there days listening to sex. And boys will be boys, you know, they aint gonna say no to sex.

Kids don't think of the consequences.

You cant just slap an age on it! Sex is to be experienced by someone when they are ready (what ever age that may be). Not when the law says it is ok. If a person chooses to have sex too early then they live with their regrets without the judgement of others (the world doesnt need "I told you so"-ers)

True, but in the eyes of the law, they are told they are mature enough to decide, even if emotionally they are not. And as I said, listening to music since the age of 14 about sex makes you think about a fair bit, and more interested in it.

For the last 2 years my sister has been listening to songs that are all about sex. She's 14. I just now she is gonna lose her virginity before she is 20, and I know she wont be ready. And thats upsetting.

True. But its still her choice to make. A strong person can cope with all the sexual things in the modern world and only have sex when they are ready

I think you guys should read the post I made eariler in this topic for proof that it's not music that's really making us think about sex. It's the change of soceity as a whole. kids think about sex a little more now then they use to because it's shown quite a bit in our soceity. I also wouldn't blame the music for their bad judgement either. I would blame the parents for not teaching their kids how to deal with that kind of thing. A lot of my peers think about sex, but I never really heard of them actually say they did and actually be telling the truth. The truth is, kids aren't having sex as much as you may think.

One problem with soceity: parents blame too much on media and others rather then themselves when it comes to raising a child.

I do see your point, yes. I talk about sex all the time, but I am a virgin.

I think you've hit the nail on the head, actually. Its society's changes.

Are you referring to me? If so then I'm only going to reply that I really don't feel obliged to have sex anytime soon... It's the last thing on my mind.

What?

So you're saying guys have more right to brag about sex than girls do? Not that i'm impressed by the bragging anyway but still... I'd call a guy a whore as easily as I'd call a female, I wouldn't hold back on a guy because it's 'right' for him... (I'm not saying that they're neccessarily 'whores' but I'm using it for sake of an example)

On a side note what you said made me think of the lyrics to Can't Hold Us Down (Christina Aguilera feat Lil Kim) "The guy gets all the glory the more he can score
while the girl can do the same but yet you call her a whore"
Just thought it was interesting =P
