I disagree and say that sex education should be taught when young. I first learnt about Sex and what's in me (aka vagina, womb etc) at the age of 11. Granted it might be too young, but it sure as hell made an impression to me. Then a year later there was another sex ed talk for the girls only again about sex and unwanted pregnancy. The responsibility taught upon us was deep and they did teach about condoms tough did not go much into it. My parents (being more open to talk about these things) allowed me to ask questions about it) So at that time, it was during the advent of the internet(1997 there). I pretty much got to link up about pregnancy and sex through the many pop-ups which ambushed us every step of the way. (And that scared/ disgusted/facinated the young me actually). So I say that we teach them while they're young what they can do and the consequences. And reinforce it every year. That's how we can make it more effective, than leaving it to parents to teach the child. |

I agree with the chocolatey hazelnutty goodness... I grew up in the Los Angeles Unified School District (not very well known for being effective education) but we had education on the matters starting around when I was 11. Although we DID have to get a permission slip from our parents, so if the parents didn't want us learning about sex, we were just excluded from the classes. We only got one reinforcement of what we learned at the begining of High School, and I think that if we had it drilled into us every year I would have less friends who have had abortions. In LA it seems that everyone assumes that abortions are the get out of jail card, but then they actually have one and it hurts them alot. I will come back and edit this in a few minutes. I have to do something. ADDED: I had thought of somethign that IW as going to add before I left, but I don't remember it now...... |

I think that sex education definitely needs to be reinforced in college as well. One of the dorms on campus is known for STDs. Actual statistics for the dorms suggests that 1 in 8 girls has an STD who live there. I also think it's weird how Mormons are basically cut off from this kind of info and only a few out of many know about sex. When they see films and stuff about sex they are just told by their church that it's not really real or something. Then after they get married they have to have sex in front of an actual priest which is really awkward, but makes sense since they have no idea what their doing. Then after that couples start multiplying up the wazoo with sex! |

   Ha ha ha ha, that is hilarious, I would like to know where you get your info from Jsun
I dont think anything you said there was true.Mormons go through school just like everyone else and know perfectly well what sex is, it is just we are taught to wait untill we are married to have sex. And we being told its not real? O how funny that would be if it were true. And then for your most funny statement. To have sex in front of a priest  , no im afraid priests dont get the kind of insentive. It is most deffinitely a private thing.

Well the people I know are TRUE mormons and they are clueless about certain things. We have to explain a lot of stuff about sex and all to them whenever something comes up. I guess they teach different things at schools. Also they are taught that Masturbation is a sin. It is actually healthy and flushes out carcinagens in the prostate which can cancer if you don't do the dirty deed. This site really makes me laugh. It's just crazy about their ideas on sex. http://www.i4m.com/think/sexuality/ |

They are probably those stupid FLDS mormons, dumb polygamists, making our relgion look bad <_<. It probably has nothing to do with them being mormons that they think that, maybe it is simply because they are just morons  And yes masturbation is bad, because of the unpure thoughts you need to have in order to do it  |

Is that Masturbation rule new? Porn hasn't been around for that long maybe since Playboy. In our public schools they taught that Masturbation was healthy and all that junk. There's a reason people get Wet Dreams. If you don't masturbate or release certain hormones your body basically tells you to release these by auto masturbating yourself, even if you don't want to. 1. Wet dreams are normal, they are believed to happen when the body is not getting release from the hormonal build up of the teen years or sudden "dry spells" in sexually active individuals. 2. Girls do get wet dreams, but they are far more common and much messier in guys. 3. Masturbation can, but won't always, put a stop to frequent wet dreams. 4. Some experts theorize that wet dreams are one of the many sub conscious ways that the body handles stress - they seem to happen more frequently in teens and young adults because this age group is thought to be under extreme stress. 5. Wet dreams are not drug induced. 6. Wet dreams do not signal a sexual abnormality or mean you are sexually deviant. 7. Wet dreams have nothing to do with being gay or straight, the type of wet dreams you have in no way represent your sexuality. 8. Wet dreams about taboo subjects like; incest, animals, rape, sex with a superior or elder, public sex, group sex, and homosexuality are common and do not have anything to do with your waking sexual preferences (it doesn't mean you secretly want to do these things). 9. There is no reason to ever feel guilty about having a wet dream, they are subconscious and can not be easily controlled or manipulated.. 10. Many people have wet dreams and don't even know it is happening, for guys the morning mess is often the only evidence and for girls they can go unnoticed - for this reason they may be more common in girls than is currently believed (under reporting may be the real reason girls seem to have them less often). |

OMG! if you and i have HEARTILY DISAGREED ABOUT EVERYTHING in the past you have redeemed yourself(at least to me) by those two short statements. you DO have a sense of humor about religion. every human being makes choices, it's not about "sinning" and "saving", it's ABOUT being YOUNG AND STUPID. and STD's do not confine themselves to college campuses, if a husband strays he can bring it, if a mother is unaware, she can bring it. |

Foomin I agree & disagree with 2 things there though I know your opinions about this kind of thing BUT I agree about the college campus thing But about the young & stupid... Sorry I am not backing you there  You can say its my religion or not... I myself am a virgin (Unbelieveable I know (only messing)) But the fact is that it depends on how you are raised and how raised you are and if you simply can resist is it not? Like you said "Every Human being makes choices" No one says they have to they choose to because mainly (lets face it) Peer influence and the MEDIA  In my personal opinion they shouldnt teach kids about sex education until your like 18 if they dont want them to have it at a young age because if they cant have sex if they dont know what it is right? |

I think it needs to be taught, but not by the schools. Parents need to take up the responsibility of telling their child about the danger of unprotected sex, and they need to do it early enough so that the children will understand. Today sex is all around us--it's in our face 24/7 (through ads, commercials, news, music, movies, ect.), and I think that children need to be taught how to resist that while they are still young. I think that's the only way it will be taken seriously. Schools started teaching us around the 6th grade, but then they just drilled it into us over and over each year and it really got annoying. When they do that, it almost becomes comical and makes kids want to have unprotected sex because they are contantly being told not to. It shouldn't be like that. Parents need to just sit their kids down, and tell them how it is. Then, I think we wouldn't have so many problems like we do today with AIDS, teen pregnancy, and such. You can't stop kids from having sex, but you can caution them to be more careful when they do. |

I sort of disagree. It's in our human nature to be attracted to people and have feelings for them. Sex is very natural. Sure schools teach us about how to be protected and all, but most of the time the reason people have unprotected sex is because they have no common sense. They have this "idea" that alcohol is the only way to obtain sex more easily. It also impairs people's decisions which then leads to unprotected sex and unwanted pregnancies. The schools need to teach more about alcohol and drug abuse then sex. These substances make you do stupid things, but it will never leave our society because it is a lubrication for mating and interacting with people. |

Agreed there. With school teaching it, not only does it make parents lazier about teaching their kids stuff or angrier that their role as parent is being diminished, but with schools teaching sex education, doesn't it just add to the media's influence of it all? If kids have questions about it, they will (hopefully) ask, and it should be the parents teaching them. Then again some parents are really taboo on the whole thing and won't say a word, or there's kids who just won't ask even if they know, so school is better than nothing, I suppose... |

I know waiting seems like the right thing to do but.. if you get the opportunity would you give it up?? I sure as hell wont. I mean, im not much of a ladies man, but if I do get the chance.. Im all for it. But one thing I'll do is ask her if she knows what she is doing. So nobody gets hurt |

Nothing Wrong with waiting. In the town I live near, there are a LOT of underage pregnancies, and a lot of single parents (although there is also a lot of underage drinking, hmmm). And just by looking at these people, I feel quite content to wait till I find the right person. |

Come to think of it, my parents never actually told me ANYTHING about Sex or reproduction. Although I remember there was this one class I had in primary school which gave us an introduction and I think my mum might have known, so... Maybe that was why. But it wouldn't surprise me if she just didn't want to talk to me about it full stop. Seeing as how she is extremely anti-porn/anti-revealing clothes and practically anti-everything sexual... IO think that's what's made me into such a pervert...

I think the main reason there are underage pregnancies and unprotected sex is alchohol. I'm in year eight high school and i know quite a few girls who have had sex before. These girls are barely fourteen and they act like getting drunk and having unprotected sex with seemingly total strangers is cool. Firstly, where the f*** are the parents of these girls, why are they allowing them to go to these places where alchohol is availiable? Where is the emotional support that parents are supposed to provide for their children? The girls that get drunk and have sex often act like they are mature and pretty much think they are adults. Tell me..... WTF IS MATURE ABOUT GETTING DRUNK AND HAVING UNPROTECTED SEX WITH MEN AND WOMEN AND THEN BRAGGING ABOUT IT THE NEXT DAY. Honestly I think the true reason that girls do this is because they are unsure about themselves. I think the parents should show more love and support to their children and shouldn't shy away from talking about sex, because if they don't tell them, the kids at school will.... |
