How to Join

To join the game, simply post in the character thread.

Don't wait too long though, or your favorite warrior may get taken! If you become inactive for a long time without informing somebody about the reasons for your absence, your character may be removed from your possession.

How to Play

Playing is as easy or as hard as you want it to be!

Each faction will get a certain number of soldiers to start with (they will not be even); most of the troops will be put under the command of the ruler, though each officer will get a starting army of 1,000 troops.

It is advised that the rulers distribute the amount of troops fairly among the officers, but favoring those with good leadership skills.

Each faction will also get a certain number of territories. When a faction loses all of its territories, they are out of the game!

Nothing really begins until an officer from one faction attacks a city belonging to an enemy faction. After an attack has been called, the ruler can decide who to send to defend the city, or someone can volunteer. (of course, there can be more than one officer on either side, more officers, more fun!)

The defending team gets to decide whether to take the battle out into the fields, go into a fort between the field and the city, or fight inside the city itself. Fighting in the field has the advantage of not damaging the stronghold or the city, plus the defenders, if losing, can retreat to the fort OR the city to regroup and continue the battle. Fighting in the fort offers more protection and doesn't damage the city, plus if the defenders are losing they can still retreat to the city, but if it is damaged it will take time to repair and if it is lost then the attacking side gets to rest and regroup! Fighting in the city offers the most protection for the defenders, but if you retreat you're out of the battle, if a city is damaged it will take a long time to repair, and as long as a city is damaged you do not get as many troops from it during recruiting!

In battle, use strategy and tactics! You MUST post EFFECTIVELY and DESCRIPTIVELY! "i hav my guys charge" will not yield the same results as "I have my Cavalry unit charge on the east hill in an effort to take the southeastern plane!."

Here are some sample tactics for you to try:
Charge
Defend
Archers (shoot, bow, etc)
Ambush
Feint
Pincer
Fire attack (fire arrows, torches, etc)
Cannonade
Raid
Concentrated Barrage

Tactics can be used as many times as needed, but the abilities of each officer can only be used once per battle (meaning that an officer can use each one of his abilities only once in a single engagement). Supplies are also an important consideration. 1 koku feeds 10 men each turn on the battlefield. Keeping your men will supplied is extremely crucial in the game!

Dueling And Other Things

Dueling is a bit different. A duel is a fight between two officers. The main advantage of a duel is that no one's troops will get hurt, nor will any strongholds. The disadvantages for the loser can include heavy injury, death (if you don't retreat or aren't careful!), capture, and major loss of troop morale. The advantages for the victor can include possible capture of enemy officer, possible capture of enemy officer's entire army, capture of a stronghold, major increase in troop morale.

Somethings to clear up about duels:

If you issue a challenge, you must say the rules of the duel DESCRIPTIVELY. If you say in the rules of your duel that only by dying that someone loses, that person can retreat and not have to abide by the wins and losses of your duel. Why? Because you didnt say "retreating is also admitting defeat."

To start a duel, simply challenge an enemy officer to a duel.

Duels basically work like battles, but remember two things: You can choose to do it on horseback or foot, and the war stat. Toyotomi Hideyoshi could never beat Honda Tadakatsu in a duel unless Tadakatsu retreats. If an officer has 10 or more points in the war stat than you, then dueling is a very risky action. There is a plus side to this, however! If someone, say Miyamoto Musashi, was losing a battle and challenged Imagawa Yoshimoto, and Yoshimoto declines, it was a logical move and his force will suffer little to no morale loss. Why? Because it was a logical move, a trait of a wise general and Yoshimoto had no need to duel him. He was winning the battle. (Perks/abilities may counter this.)

Duels will be done via PM. You PM your move to the mod of the duel and then when both duellers have done this the mod summarizes the outcome.

Here are some sample dueling techniques:
Flurry of Attacks
Run and Hit
Defend

As always, use descriptions!

Turns end on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Although you may compose secret strategies by PM, either in a battle or a duel, they must be revealed to a moderator of the game before you may carry them out!

Unique units (New!)

In SWCJv2, there will be several additions to the units of the game. One of these is the unique units. Unique units are essentially very special troops that can only be bought by the clan they're for. More info about these and other troops in the market place thread. Here is a small list:

Takeda: Heavy Cavalry
Toyotomi: Wooden giants
Oda: Gattling Gunners
Kyuushu Alliance: Ambush units
Tokugawa: Edo guard
Mouri: Wako
Uesugi: Bishamon Avatars
Date: Dragon raiders
Azai: Four Celestial Forts
Hojo: Defensive turtles
Imagawa: Kage musha
Chousokabe: Ichiro Gunsoku
Akechi: Reaper squad

Defecting

The officer defecting gets 10% of their current army as well as their original 1000 ashigaru. However, the percent of what you get could be affected with a speech, your battle history, etc...

The rest of the soldiers belong to the clan they defected from. However, some of those men can rebel if they still hold ties to their old clan. A heavy speech from the ex-Lord could start a defection under your own defection! Mind blower!

One can only defect once a game, doesn't matter if you died and got a new character. If it's a fake defection then it doesn't count, but you have to tell the mods that it's fake before doing it otherwise it'll be counted as a real defection.

Rulers

Okay rulers, this sections is just for you! So if you're Shimazu Yoshihiro, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Takeda Shingen, Uesugi Kenshin, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Oda Nobunaga, Date Masamune, Imagawa Yoshimoto, Azai Nagamasa, Akechi Mitsuhide, Chousokabe Motochika, Mouri Motonari, or Hojo Ujimasa, read this!

As the ruler, you are responible for a few things in your faction:

Setting Tax Rates
Giving orders
Giving out troops
Recruiting and Buying Koku
Making and breaking alliances

Your faction is only allowed to recruit or redistribute troops while your ruler is not in battle. Recruiting occurs in the marketplace. Taxes are collected every turn. You can tax your cities the regular rate (1,000 gold), the low rate (500 gold) or the high rate (1,500 gold). Benovelence and Despotism are both rewards and punishments themselves; each of them will have positive and negative effects.

As well, you have to make sure that your kingdom can feed those troops! Food for rations is harvested every three turns. 1 city can produce 1000 koku on these turns. Otherwise, it is recommended that rulers buy rations. Ten troops can survive on one koku. For extra morale, you can of course feed them a bit more, though this is not usually necessary.

In case of the most unfortunate event that the ruler dies, the player will have three choices:
1. Quit the game; your officers become free officers. They can make their own faction or join others.
2. Choose an heir. The person player you choose as an heir will become the new ruler. You then quit the game.
3. Choose heir/new officer: Choose an heir as normal, but you also get to become a new officer (I will give you officers to choose from)!

In case a faction is losing, a ruler cannot just quit. They must continue fighting or else retire their character. If a ruler is down to two territories or so, they may get the option to surrender to another warlord, though if they or any of their vassals still have over 5,000 troops they are still unable to quit.

Wandering Ronin(New!)

Ok everyone! A new feature! In Samurai Warriors Conquer Japan v2, there is a prominent new feature. Saika Magoichi, Miyamoto Musashi, Maeda Keiji, Sasaki Kojiro, Ishikawa Goemon and Shima Sakon are free roaming warriors. What does this mean? Simple. In the marketplace board will be threads that contain auctions for each of these warriors. If you pay the Mercenary's price, you can add him to your army for a battle, two battles, or till time ends. Gain a mercenary and get a significant advantage in the game! Beware though, for these men hold no loyalties. Do not take them for granted.

If you're one of the six mercenaries in the game, you must be aware of some things! First off, though you will be granted some men at the start, you cannot buy anything. You need a lord to supply you with troops, but for that to happen you need to join a clan!

(Only one Mercenary/Ronin per clan)

Lone Clans (New!)

In this game, there will be three lone clans. The Imagawa, Mouri, and Chousokabe. What is a lone clan, you ask? It's quite simple! A Lone clan has one playable character, the leader, and three sub-officers. Only one person can be in a lone clan (Not counting mercenaries). The players of lone clans will be able to buy troops, boats, seige weapons, and control thier sub-officers while simultaneously playing and battling as all four people in thier clan. Though this may sound like an unfair advantage, having four characters to manage on your own could be quite the stress maker...

The Emperor

The Emperor of Japan is an important figurehead in the game. The Emperor, or Tenno, can grant a faction a great deal of benefits and bonuses, but make enemies with him and your clan will surely suffer low popularity among villagers and the common people. The Emperor is roleplayed by moderators in the game. Only factions that have the Emperor within their territories will be able to speak to him directly, though anybody can send him gifts or speak with them through messengers.

Correct. Everyone is competing to rule the land, so having a shogun from a toppled shogunate was pointless.

I am correct in saying mods cannot play right? In that case, I could talk to any mod if I was to fake defect or not? And what things can you buy besides ronin and troops?
Rastilin:Could I break off my alliance with Azai because I didn't make it?
Wo Long:No. You are forever bound by a Satan-possessed contract.
Rastilin:Damn satanic blood contracts.

There are playing mods, but we are running solo clans, so a fake defection has no bearing on us.
These are the Forum Rules. They are there for you to read and abide by them, not to ignore them.

You should have trust in the mods, they are trust-worthy and wouldn't leach out any information. There should be two sides to the player, modding and playing, they should never get mixed together for personal gain. You could say, the mods are "privaliged" to have access to certain information, and I hope none will be taken advantage of :)

Each mod is devoted to their job, and will do anything to keep the game running smoothley and fun for everyone! So no need to worry about lack of trust or whatever when you send plans like that to a mod.

But it still wouldn't be a good idea to tell the mod in the clan you're in that you're going to defect. You're best off telling a different one. But yes, there are mods who play and all will keep your secrets confidential.
Miyamoto Musashi
Perk: Niten-Ichi (Musashi's attack is up permanently in any duels.)
Calm before the storm: Musashi may counter the next move his opponent makes and deals 2x the damage. 1/2 chance of working.
Wise one: Tactics used by Musashi have a much higher chance of succeeding.
Ganryu Slayer: When fighting other Wandering Ronin, Musashi may use this to increase his attack exponentially.

Amendment 1:
If you capture an officer and decide to hold them prisoner, unless stated otherwise, they will be held captive in your clan's capital. If you do not have a capital at the time of capture they will be held wherever they were captured.

This does not go for Yukimura's capture, this is for the future. I don't believe it was ever stated where Yukimura was sent to, if it was point it out to me, please. If it wasn't he's still in Northern Shinano.
