I've seen this game around so many times... I don't think it ever got popular. I think it's because they made a bad choice when selecting the case cover art. It wasn't eye catching at all. That or Free Roam fighting games just never caught on. As I don't think Bushido Blade did all that well either... But anyways, The graphics look pretty good in that video. And the gameplay seemed pretty fast, I might have to check this out. |

Well it's a very old game and what the graphic is very good though, compared it with FF7 and Tekken 1 because they released at the same time. It's very fun and the music is good too. Too bad it isn't popular and the creator changed his mind to make Dynasty Warriors 2. I want the OST so bad if anyone has it please lemme know btw, I hope to cover this game on the site!!

Haha same here. I loved that game and I never knew it was made by Koei! Lol seriously me and my brother played it all the time but eventually we lost it somehow and he still moans about losing it till this day! Around about that time I was playing C&C: Retaliation also. |

The more I watch it, the more it kind of reminds me of a Watered down Power Stone lol All it'd need is more interactive stages, and more people during the fight. Oh, and Transformations! Destrega is one of the first Koei games ? It's good to learn it ^^ Some years ago, my brother and I played a demo with an extract of Destrega (just two characters playable) if I remember correctly the game we played. One boy with elementalfire and one girl with ice (I think, I don't know why I just remember the boy with elemental fire >.> and his sentence at the end of fight, lolol (maybe because we laught about his french sentence) Well, we have great fight in this game, but the time we played it until now seems to be an eternity... Tell me the sentences was it like the DW3 ones with the "marseillais accent" lol?hmm I think it's interesting to see the first game of the DW's creator ^^ now we can really see the evolution.  there is much more attacks and the combo with the musou is very good, why didn't they keep it?Anyway, this game reminds me a bit of DW2 in the characters and the duel system... too bad it didn't have sucess. |

WOW! My first Koei game. I'd almost forgot about this game. I had it and then traded it away, for what I dont remember. A few years ago I remember wanting it back but could not find it anywhere. I really loved the game even though it did not sell that great, get great reviews, and alot of the characters looked like characters in other fighting games. I cant recall his name right now, but the knight with the twin swords was a killer. I always imagined that if you combined Psychic Force's arial battling w/ this Destrega's ground battling, you'd have the PERFECT Dragonball game.

[Liza]lol, yes it's the same style of accents, lolol And I never forget his sentences "Go to the devil" ("Va au diable" in French) if I don't mistakes because of his accent when he says that Well, I remember it's a fight game which a own style, different to others fight games I played. |

Well it's not, really, if you compared this to FFVII graphic or Tekken 1 or 2 graphic, Destrega looks more outstanding for the graphic, remember they released around the same year. And this is a good game! |

When I saw those videos that Chin posted up, I remember this game from a LONG time ago.. When I was on vacation at Vietnam about 10 years ago I remember that the small 'game centers' they were always playing this game, along with Chocobo Racing, which they called the "Chicken Racing" game, lol.. I'm very surprised that KOEI made it! This was also around the same time-frame as DW1 I believe, maybe a bit later? |

Cool, you've been in Vietnam. I'm not sure DW1 released first or Destrega, but comparing with the graphic, I think DW1 comes first then followed by Destrega!

I admit this is the first time I visit the "Other KOEI Games" forum, I decided to take a look to see if there was a thread about Destrega (since I talked about it in the "New Year 2008 Quiz" thread). I'm glad to see there's one =)! Destrega was my first KOEI game too *looks at G. O. W.'s post ^^* (for those who don't know, I've always been fond of fighting games) and I liked it thanks to the innovative and unique gameplay and the comparatively nice graphics (by the way, Chin, sorry to contradict you, but I think Destrega was released in 1998, while Tekken 1 in 1994 in arcades and 1995 for PlayStation. Tekken 3 was released in arcades in 1996 and for PlayStation in 1998 *I remember well because it was one of my first PlayStation games* and I think the graphics are still better than Destrega's, even though I liked Destrega's very much. And yes, Dynasty Warriors 1 was released before Destrega). As I said in the "New Year 2008 Quiz" thread, that was also the first time I "met" Dynasty Warriors characters, and I'm surprised that no one mentioned that nice feature ^^. The Italian voice acting was horrible, though XP. |

I'm surprised that so many people know about this game. Of course, I'm relatively young, so this game was released before I became a gamer. Still... I have never heard of it until now, and I've been a fan of KOEI for a while. Judging by the videos, the gameplay looks decent. The music is great, though! |
