History really, my brother told me about the Three Kingdoms when I was 8, after that i just couldn't get enough, so when we heard of the game, we got it immediately from DW2 to 6, when we heard of Samurai Warriors, we bought it from start to now to, it was the feel of fighting through historic, even fictional battles that made it exciting for me.

I've always wanted a game where I could just run on a battlefield and hack n' slash the hell out of whoever I wanted with basically no frills. The whole war aspect only allowed me to hack up more people, and having to keep an eye on my allies helped me develop a strategy to my madness. When I bought Dynasty Warriors 3 a couple years ago (I know, I'm a late bloomer), I finally found that game. Since then, I've been eating up every Warriors game I can find that's worth picking up because I get to hack and slash people up for hours on end. I also like the music of the series, with it's sweet guitar riffs combined with traditional Chinese instruments. I eventually grew to like the subject matter, as well, and became drawn into the Romance of the Three Kingdoms world, as I was confused as to what the hell was going on at first. And the character designs are awesome, as well. And, well, that's it.
I am currently under leave of absence from the site. I have become tangled up with work and have turned my attention away from the site, as I have unfortunately lost interest and do not have the time to dedicate to it. If you wish to contact me, click on my username to find my MSN and AOL contacts, and I am also on Facebook, as well. Don't worry, I'm not gone forever, and I'll try to be on from time to time when I find the time, and once I regain interest and find more time on my hands, I'll be back. Thank you all for understanding, and see you around.

I have always been a big fan of Asian history since I was a young whipper snapper. But I was alittle shy of reading up on it. Playing the Keoi games definitly wetted my appetite to do my own research on the areas on which the games are based on. It's a plus to tell you friends about the various places and people that they talk about but only know them because they played the game. The warriors' beliefs are impressive enough to help me reinforce my own belief system. Plus, other games do you know where you can take out 1000 or more emenies, and from the comfort of your own home.

It has that element that makes me so addicted to it!!!

I like it because of the history, game plays, number of characters and etc. The main reason I like it because Koei releases a game every year. They release like 2 or 3 games. Like DW5...EMPIRES AND THEN XTREME LEGENDS and then they have SW2 in between them and also they made WO. Which is pretty cool........It keeps going unlike Soul Calibur and Tekken. They take 3 years to make another game...

KOEI shows a lot of heart to their games... that's why i love what they give out to all gamers out there.

Heck, ever since Dynasty Warriors 3 got to my life, I knew Koei could go far as a fuxing awesome franchise... and they sure did.

KOEI shows a lot of heart that Capcom and SNK-playmore also had during their glory days..

Something about being able to slaughter hundreds of soldiers interested me, so I checked it out. The gameplay is addicting, the music is amazing, the characters are entertaining, and it's just plain fun. Not to mention you walk away from the games with some knowledge because of its historical roots. And the fact that KOEI is a "STFU critics! We're doing this for the fans!" type of company, and they keep releasing great games no matter how many critics hate them. They deliver on fan service, for sure.

Oh, and a huge selling point for me was being able to ride a horse. I had never ridden a horse in a video game before, so the concept excited me.

For me, it's the historical aspect. I've always been into Asian history since 8th grade, but we were too busy learning about our boring old state <_<. When i played DW I learned a good bit. It also helps that the games are fun and easy to get into. The music is easy on the ears as well ^_^.

A reason why I play them...
Well, I don't play them all...just the DW, SW, and WO series.
I like the mass killing (yes, I sound like a madman, but that's ok)
Also, the amount of stuff in them, the historical content....(except for WO of course)
And, they give me goods idea's for weapons that I design.

My favourite Koei games/games in general are and forever will be the Warriors series, Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors and Warriors Orochi. My reason for this, you ask? My... where do I begin? Pull up a chair, this may take a while. Haha^^;;

It all began a few years ago, when my old next door neighbor, who was a gamer geek like me,gave me his Dynasty Warriors 2 because he had gotten a newer Dynasty Warriors and did not want the old one anymore. I looked at the game for a moment, never having heard of Dynasty Warriors before, and decided it would be fun to at least try out. As soon as I turned it on, and started playing, I immediately fell in love with the game. Later on, after I bought Dynasty Warriors 4, my mother mentioned to me that the men the game is based on were real people who lived at one time many, many years ago. Naturally, I had to find out who these men were, so I looked up a few names, starting with Lu Bu and Guan Yu because those were the names my mother told me to look for. As soon as I read that they did, indeed, live at one time, I was at a loss for words. It was not too much longer that my neighbor borrowed me his copy of Samurai Warriors, and I thought to myself, "I wonder... did these men really exist as well?" I looked it up to find out, and sure enough, there it was in front of me... the Sengoku period of Japan. Ever since I descovered that all these men once lived and fought, I grew a new love and respect for the Warriors series. Now, this is the part that everyone will probably think I am a total lunatic, but I call these men my heros, and there is a reason for this. Before I found out about these magnificent warriors having lived at one time, I was in a very bad place in my life. I was in a friendship that was very hard on me, the person having been very emotionally and sometimes physically abusive to me. She controlled everything I said and did, taking my things and my freedom to speak my mind and love what I wanted to love. After I started playing the Warriors series and learned about all of the history that they taught me, I finally found something that I did not want to have taken away from me. I was lying in my bed one night and I closed my eyes and asked for help. I did not have anyone else to go to, so I prayed that a higher power could help me. I was at the point where I almost gave up my life. But then, I had a strange, unexplainable dream that changed my life. I will not go into detail, seeing as I am already talking enough, but in one part, the most unexplainable of all, there was a large round table, and I saw several different men dressed in armor and formal Chinese/Japanese attire. They all looked at me, and told me that as long as I was willing to change my life and help myself that they would help to guide me though everything. I woke up in tears, but this time not of sorrow, but in releif. I knew then that findinf the Warriors series was not just my neighbor showing me new games... I feel that I found them for a reason, as a way for me to find these men so they could help me in my time of need. After that dream, my life changed completely. I finally got out of the painful friendship I was in, and got my life back together again. I believe with all my heart that the men that the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series, are based on are watching over me and help me in my life when I need a strong helping hand, weather it be for advice or a good lecture, and I would have never found my heros without having played Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors. I adore both the men and history these games teach me about. You can call me crazy, or just an obsessed fangirl, but I know in my heart and soul what I experienced, and I have never felt anything like that in my life. My reason for playing Warriors Orochi must be pretty obvious now, ne? It is because I enjoy being able to see all of my heos in one game, though I know none of what happens in Warrior Orochi really happenned. But, besides all of that, I also enjoy the 'Hack 'n Slashing' you can do in all of these games. There is something about blowing away several thousands of soldiers that gets the adrenalin pumping and the blood flowing! Haha^^;; But nothing beats my main reason for loving the games, of course.

That is the reason I love Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. I rambled, I know, and I probably sound like a crazy lunatic, but I spoke what my heart truly feels.

I apologize for the extremely long post. If it is too long, I can try to shorten it to the best of my abilities.

Heh, my mam doesn't know anything about it either. ;) I dunno if my dad knows anything though, but as he dislikes the DW/SW games for the "stupid waste of money" that he thinks they are, I tend not to talk about the topic with him.

I don't really have any in-depth reasons as to why I like the games, apart from that they're usually filled with content, and have fun gameplay and an interesting story. 2 player with my friend (yep, that's singular, most of my friends don't care much for the series') is usually great as well.

I started reading 'Romance of Three Kingdoms' way back when, and someone mentioned in passing there was a video-game based on the book. I picked up a copy of DW3 and have been following the series ever since.

There is also the satisfaction of leaving thousands of dead peons in my wake. Especially when I'm in a bad mood, then it becomes true balm for the soul

I like Koei game mainly because of Nobunaga's ambition series :P And they has wide selection of history based hack&slash like DW&SW, strategy that make you think like Nobunaga's Ambition, Romance of three kingdoms and Kessen series. I even play dating sim games they made, I must say they're quite enjoyable

Its great to play games that tested a mans might and mettle on the battlefield with a blade, balance and skill rather than the cowards way these days at the end of a barrel or with a finger of a button of nuclear destruction.

I grew up on old black and white japanese movies my fave being the Seven Samurai when i was growing up (as my mother was deaf, thus she could only watch things with subtitles and in those days there was no teletext for this). Thus it was only natural that i grew up fond of the old martial arts and combats from days long gone in Asia.

Koei by far makes the best games of these and have now been a fan of there games since around DW3 XL

Thank you, I am glad to have finally shared it with others. I, too, am very happy that my mother had some Three Kingdoms knowledge she could offer to me. She atually learned about the Three Kingdoms from my father, for he used to spent all of his time playing Romance of the Three Kingdoms and reading the novels when the two of them were still together while I was a young girl. I do not remember this, though I wish I could, but my mother certainly does. My father never appreciated the historical information that ROTTK holds, but the least I can do is be grateful that, because of him, my mother was able to help me learn more about my heros. I actually got her into playing Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors as well. She still has yet to try Warriors Orochi, but I am sure in time she will. Haha^^

Aww, thats deep. I'm happy u got out of your problem! ^_^

My way of findin this series was a demo disc a long time ago that had different demos. I never played the dw3 demo for a long time cuz the pic was of a dude on a horse and I thought "a horse riding game? LAME! Then one day I was bored and chose to play it. I was like, haha lets see how bad this game is! I picked Zhao Yun cuz well he looked the coolest. after awhile I fell in love with the demo, playin it with most of my friends in co-op, until I wanted to buy it. I accedently bought Kessen instead and I was PISSED. after that I lost the demo and forgot about Dynasty warriors...that is until I bought my psp. I was lookin for games, and the store I was in lets u try the games b4 u buy them, I was tryin random games until I happened apon DW vol. 1. Now I had forgotten about DW completly, until I tried it. I was like, "HOLY CRAP no way, its that one game!!!" I bought it right away. The rest is history. BTW, I thought from that dw3 demo that Dynasty Warriors was a game that had a level for every major battle up until world war two back then! XD

Well, I got into Dynasty Warriors when DW4 came included on a demo disc in Playstation magazine.
I didn't even play it right away. I was bored one day and just decided to play anything on the demo disc, even if it looked bad.
DW4 was among those on the disc.
The minute I played it, I knew I'd struck gold. Ahh, I will always remember the very first character I played in that demo.
It was a choice of Dian Wei, Diao Chan and Zhao Yun.
Yup.
Zhao Yun.
He was so cool.
I think I like the games because there is a very simple "pick up and play" aspect about them that I just can't find in other games. The mindless slaughter of zillions of troops is strangely addictive; I can't quite explain it!
It's very stress-relieving actually. Except when Lu Bu comes after you. Then it rots a bit. Unless you're nicely leveled up, then you can cream 'im. :D
