i love the characters and their not so great english voices their awsome
 I love the characters. They're all awesome and unique and the cool thing is that there are a hundred of 'em! Their voices are cool too, and I like the fact that, since DW4, many of the actors are consistent in returning to their roles. Or at least they find a new actor who sounds similar and sometimes better.

The first time I started liking Dynasty Warriors was when I could create my own character, and then I grew familiar with the existing ones.

Guess it is my love for brainess hack-and-slash, which KOEI happen to excel at. :D
On other points, their character designs are gorgeous, and me being chinese definitely helped me get interested in Dynasty Warriors...

Many reasons.

First: historical series.

Second: long-time gaming - Includes Aerobiz, Nobunaga's Ambition, Genghis Khan and Inindo, the snes/megadrive [genesis - i say megadrive because it was released with that name here in Brazil] strategy games.

Third: Musou Series - the main reason I am a fan of koei itself. Combos, solo guitars, techno, Pretty Women...

They don't try to fix what isn't broken, and fix what is. That sums it up for me right there.

I love the story, the action, the music, and because my friends introduced me to them. Love them since then.

Hm... I thinkg it was 3 years ago. We had a party and my godsister brought Dynasty Warriors 5. My first character was Sun Shang Xiang, cuz I thought she was Seong Mi-na from Soul Calibur II. Turns out she wasn't, but I love her fighting style with chakrams. Last year, I looked through a journal from elementary school and found that I wrote an entry on that party, so I said, "Hm! I think I should get Dynasty Warriors!" So we went to GameStop after getting the PS3 for Christmas. I intended to get Soul Calibur IV, but my mom wouldn't let me. So Dynasty Warriors 6 was my backup plan. Ever since I started playing DW6, I've been obsesed with it and I even bought Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel.

Also, me being Filipino, I've always loved Asian (Chinese and Japanese) things. So I love Chinese history thanks to DW6. And now I plan to get Warriors Orochi Z, Samurai Warriors 3 and Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires.

The only reason why I still show an interest with KOEI games is because of the character designs and music.

I like them so much because its just you/your character out there on the battle and it can walk anywhere you want it in any direction. There are some games like that but they tell you were to go and what to do, in DW you are sort of left to your own acord which well, is just better!

I really like the character designs, music, and gameplay. Like, game ranking sites always rank the games low because of various reasons, a few of which make no sense. But I really like the games, no matter what the sites say!

I just like to fight a lot of enemies.
Thank you for generic response #500!~
I think everyone plays Koei games for that reason.... :P
You might want to add why fighting a lot of enemies is so satisfying for you.
Please note that one liner posts are frowned upon, and that you should be adding enough content to your posts as to help generate discussion. Thank you!

See above paragraph, please. ;)

I don't really like Koei games so much anymore.
But I do still appreciate the historic aspect of the story, as well as the ability to free roam around levels, hacking and slashing as you please. The freedom to run around at your leisure (for the most part) and ride around on a horse, and saving your allies were so of the most important features which instantly pulled me in to Dynasty Warriors, which led me to purchase their other series Samurai Warriors, which in turn led me to buy Kessen III.

Ghetto Website for Koei Komics!

well, i used to like Koei's games because:

-they were fun hack and slash
-the roster was pretty expansive which meant there were alot of personalities and movesets to experience
-there was a good deal of unlockable's which gave an incentive to keep playing
-the historical aspect was interesting and fun. i still enjoy searching for and learning about China during its Three Kingdoms era.

the reason(s) i dont't enjoy Koei games anymore is because:

-the relentless "expansions" and splinter series' got ridiculous. you cant do expansions for console the way PC games do it. though now that consoles mainly work with hard drives, i think it can be legitimized if Koei would work on it. they need to unite their Warriors games into one type of series, and i have said it before and ill say it again, the Empires series is closest to the ideal Warriors franchise.

-the combat system is still too simple for my taste. it needs more complexity, not just on the offensive aspect, but on the defensive aspect as well.

-the mood of the series needs more of a mature touch. a serious and reasonable mature touch. i think Koei should take the risk of excluding their younger age market by adding a little more violence and blood to thier series. if they make it a Mature rated series and it works, then i think this could be a legit revival of interest into their games. pull a Resident Evil 4, Koei.

-this could be an alternative to the above remark or be included with it as well if Koei is REALLY feeling awesome. the addition of Chinese dialogue would really add that genuine touch to the series. this has been asked for for as long as i can remember, and the arguement against it has always been cost i think. if this cant be done, then at least make the inclusion of the Japanese audio a permanent addition. it seems its only added every now and then.

-it doesnt seem to me that Koei shows much appreciation for its Western fanbase. not only for their purchasing of their games, but also for their constant and in-depth suggestions for improving their games. i remember i used to make MANY suggestions, as well as others, on Koeis official forums. alot of us made detailed, well thought out suggestions that we were happy to type out. but, it seems that if Koei listens to them, they take the ones that will barely be noticed or easiest to include, which says to me that they are content with resting on their laurels and not taking those big leaps that could make their Warriors games NOT such a laughing stock. and thats a big reason why i refuse to purchase any more Koei games. i just dont like to be used that way.

Hmm let me see, my first koei game was Uncharted Waters 2: New Horizons, and that's still one of my favorite games of all time, then when i got my ps2 i remembered seen on a tv show a review of dw5 so i bought it ,and since i played it for the first time it got me hooked then i played dw5 empires and that was pretty amazing for me ,it's the same gameplay but you can create your character and build your empire ,and makes you feel you are there ,so dw5 empires is my favorite dynasty warriors game :p
