I thought I'd make this topic for general discussion and to answer a query of Lord_Nagamasa's about the character.
Yes he is, and he's also very good at rampaging. The first time I played through, I THOUGHT the game would end at Honnouji, and thus I leveled him up. However, I think it's a bad idea personally. In fact, I'd focus on leveling some of the characters you unlock more than the main characters. This is because, at some points in the game, you will not always get to use the main characters. If you level up characters like Hanzo, Goemon, Kato Kiyomasa or even Kani Saizo, Shikanosuke Yamanaka, etc. to a high point, they will be very useful. You only need Mitsuhide (required officer) for one battle. I *think* it's the siege of Akechi Castle, but I forget the exact name. The battle is quite hard, and is against Takeda Katsuyori. As well, it happens to be the level where you can unlock the GREAT Goemon. Since you only need him for that battle, you don't need to worry about leveling him up that much. |

im usually limited to 4 people per map. Oda of course, along with Shibata, his wife (forgot the name) and either Toshiie/Hideyoshi are who i use regularly. Also, ill sometimes use the potato-samurai/Yoshinari, just in case more than one of my regular four are in the weakened or whatever condition (bad or terrible) so how do i unlock those other people, aside from goemon who you just mentioned |

If you wish to check this FAQ I wrote on the game. It's rather light on spoilers and just helps point out where the optional recruitments are and some other handy tips. One thing I will add however Nagamasa, don't be shy to use Rampage in battle; in fact I'd encourage it. It's one of the best ways to develop your officers, even if you don't defeat the opposing officer. Time running out is better then a defeat! And good idea Slick for the topic, you beat me to it.

That is why you should rest Oda for all the minor battles (if your not already), otherwise he will eat exp away from your other officers. But yeah, any more problems ask away; I and many others I'm sure will be happy to help with the great game. |

When it zooms in on her unit, that's like a combo sort of thing. I forget exactly how it works, but I think after you use a unit special attack (like katana troops' death wheel or spearmens' spear wall, etc.) and then hit the R1 button, you can do extra damage with a combo. It's a very useful move. Anyways, what Sakon says is true. I don't use Nobunaga or Mitsuhide unless I have to. For Mitsuhide, that's practically never. For Nobunaga, that's a lot, however. |

I'm pretty sure you can't use him at Nagashino because he leaves right before the battle. |

He does leave before Nagashino, and he is requires for Anegawa. He gets a small damage boost at the start of the fight. |

That's the halt damage ... when the enemy unit is charging up their special attack, if you hit them you can do more damage and with a support unit, pressing R1 when it turns blue will get even MORE damage done. I think it also works if you use your special T attack at close range to the enemy unit. I never use Mitsuhide unless I have to. Ever. I hate him, he's a creep and grosses me out. I also find that pretty much everyone else is far superior to him anyway. |

I love Mitsuhide Akechi's character and his voice actor. His armor looks so nice and his facial expressions are very cool. Only problem is the fact that he is a turn coat. I didn't use him much despite the fact that I like him because I knew from playing SW he was gonna be bad in the end. I never had a problem with the chapter he is required. Level him up in a minor battle before that and he should be good. I think the voice actor for Mitushide is Cam Clarke who also plays as Leonardo from the old teenage mutant ninja turtles tv show, simba from lion king, Kratos from symphonia, Liquid Snake, and Ryudo from Grandia II. He is a pretty talented voice actor. |

I tried to look up a voice credit for Mitsuhide under Cam Clarke on a few sources and couldn't find a match; but regardless his VA in the game is excellent - similar to Cam Clarke whether it really is him or not. And yes, his character in the game in excellent; showing him back as a child trying to protect Kicho and basically having Saito Dosan kicking his ass at one stage for "Falling in love with her". Then the time he comes to rescue Kicho during the attack on Oda's army and Yoshiaki during his short time with Oda is excellent. I love how Kessen gives him the necessary backstory and value to Oda before he betrays him; something SW doesn't do anywhere near as well. As for him in the game, I never even levelled him up; I just gave him a decent Rifle unit which Sanchez had remaining after upgrading Sanchez's unit; 2nd hand equipment to one character can still benefit another. |

I tried looking him up online as well and didn't find any matches to this game but I'm almost positive it is him. His voice is identical to Kratos' voice in ToS. Either way I think he is the best voice actor in this game but there are many good ones. Kessen deserves more credit because it really is a nice game. I hadn't had a game with a really entertaining story in a while. I use Sanchez as well for my rifle man. He comes up with pretty good skills and is pretty tough for a rifle man too. |

Yep, after another tried to match Cam Clarke with Mitsuhide a while back I started to believe it myself. I remember his voice from way back on Ryudo in Grandia II - and later Tales of Symphonia as well. No doubt one of the better voice actors going around. If only Kessen got my credit indeed, I've enjoyed very few stories as much as I have the Kessen III story; and I've played dozens of RPG's before it. |

Same here, I have played Grandia II, many Final Fantasy games, Fire Emblem 6-9, Evolution I and II, Dynasty Tactics II, Gladius and many more. Kessen III still ranks one of the top and it sure did beat FFXII's story. Kessen I feel has the best story out of Koei's games that I have played. Kessen III had a good mix of action, romance, and comedy. I'd give it a ten on story. |

I knew from playing SW that Mitsuhide would betray me, but that certainly didn't stop me from using him obsessively. I pretty much had him with me on every campaign until the inevitable betrayal. He was just to cool too toss aside, in my opinion! I actually felt really sympathetic towards him in the end. I cried during the final scene where he has the flash back with Kicho. He still loved after all those years... Oh, and one thing I'm certain about is that Mitsu in Kessen 3 has the same Japanese seiyuu from Mitsu in SW! The voice is so perfect for the character. |

Aw, what can I say? I'm a total sap who always pities the character with unrequited love! Well, plus the fact he was simply gorgeous (even with a steel mountain on his head) didn't hurt either! As far as villains go though, oh man.. I LOVED it when he killed that one guy... just sort of slashed him with his Katana... wasn't it Yoshiaki's servant guy? Ugh, I can't remember his name!! |

He killed Isshiki Fujinaga after Yoshiaki desperately asked Mitsuhide to save the Shogunate. He rather calmly slashes him repeatedly about a dozen times saying "I just destroyed the demon that plagues you" or something like that. With that he took over the Shogunate. He is an absolutely fascinating character in the game. I recall right at the beginning Toshiie was making fun of him "You can't even take care of a little girl" regarding Kicho. He then appeared suddenly to aid Oda whilst under attack, impressing Nobunaga, he tried to move his way through the ranks but the Oda retainers didn't let it happen. He then appeared to be planning ahead suggesting to attack a different area with Toshimutsu...and basically did nothing for a year until the chance came to kill Oda at Honnoji. "Your dream ends here forever!" Such a massive and strange role, and I love his character for it. But of course refuse to use him in battles as he just wastes experience... |

Oh yeah... that was the name of the guy. He was actually kinda cool, I felt a bit bad for him when Mitsuhide killed him. I think the most moving cut scenes in the game where the ones featuring him and Kicho. He was almost... manipulative with her now that I think about it. |

Mitsuhide's motives for betraying Nobunaga really surprised me... I expected them to be similiar to his motives in SW series but I was totally wrong. He's a real ***hole this time around  . I either didn't like to take him into battles with me since I knew what he was going to do eventually... but he was so damn good with those rifles that I couldn't resist >_>. Plus, there were a few battles where you had to take him with you. |

I found he was great officer to use despite the fact that he leaves you later on. It didn't really put me at a big disadvantage or anything for using him over other officers either. And yeah, it is pretty surprising if you play the game after you've played through SW and already have a preconceived idea of what the characters will be like, especially in Mitsuhide's case. He's very different from his SW counterpart... I can't say I like him much as a person, but I do sympathize with him. |
