What do you think of the addition of "Rampage" in the Kessen series?
Should it be used in future releases, does it need to be improved?
What is the highest KO count you have achieved in a Rampage?

Post your thoughts relating to the Rampage part of Kessen III.

I don't use the Rampage feature that much... not on hard mode ^_^ . I think its good to have it in the next Kessen title but Koei should make it a bit easier and shorter. My highest KO is about 170-180 (normal difficulty) 150+ on hard mode.

with toshiie, i gave him a flamberg, got around 250-260 ish. i got a ton of pink orbs though, and the horse that cant be disrupted.

its cool but tedious-no pausing is bad, i get alot of phone calls :(

spears are too slow..the swinging is like:

1-2------------3-4
I hereby vow, on March 4th, 2009, that if I encounter a spammer and lose twice in a row, my Brawl disc will be shattered to peices and I will have photographic proof. This will remain in my sig until said event happens.

No pausing would indeed be a problem; if you couldn't. Pause it with Select, not Start and you will not have the problem anymore. ;)

The difficulty of Rampage depends purely on who you Rampage with, and who against. If you Rampage with Oda against a generic retainer you'll find it very easy. However if you use someone like Nagahide against a lead officer you'll have serious problems. It's all about the officer stats, just keep an eye on them and pick who to Rampage with and you'll be alot better off.

I enjoy the Rampage in the game, a nice way to turn a battle in your favour and also at times boost some stats. Just at times it can get a little tedious; but no more then hack n' slash in DW really so that's not a major issue. A turbo controller can be handy at times too, just have them slash while you move.

I don't use this much. Usually when I'm going to be defeated, (The Unit.) I trigger it. So I could at least go down with knowing I took some damage from them. It's a pretty good skill to use. It would be nice if you could get off the horse, or fall off it if it's added again. I do like using it with Akechi Mitsuhide and Oda Noubunaga though.

I've attached a poll to this topic.

From the few posts to date I get the impression that many in my opinion under use the Rampage ability.

I find it the single most ability the can make the difference from losing a battle, to winning a battle, to winning it well. For just one skill point you can alter your and enemies condition, gain gold and experience bonuses or stun the enemy temporarily, improve your core stats or proficiency with various skills and most importantly evade sticky situations and cancel enemies ongoing skills like Water Wall immediately by just picking up one Stun icon.

Perhaps this is an underrated feature?

I just never used it much because I always thought it was too long, as well as if your not that good at using it the enemy general will over take you once he arrives. But yeah, it does have it's situations when it can turn a hopeless battle into a winnable one. Well, for the underrated part I might have to agree. Most people I've seen play tend to never use it. (Mainly the normal attack button.) IMO, it would be better if it gave you a bit more choices (Of attacks.) rather than the small choice you get.

I almost never used it after I attempted to get Muneyoshi during Chapter 8, and failed considerably 11 times. I got along just fine without it for the rest of Normal and all of Hard (still working on Expert, and still don't miss it).

When I played the game, I used it almost every battle. If you could knock off the enemy general a few times, it usually considerably weakened that general's unit and gave you an advantage that could allow you to win.

Oh I used it as much as possible. It reminds me of the Musou attack in DW (obviously influenced from that).
BUT I only used it on the generals. You had to get a certain amount of KOs before the the general would appear, so I would save the rampages until their appearance because they take A LOT of damage before they go down for good.
It's always satisfying to kill the general cause then you get the special message GLORIOUS VICTORY.

I used my Kessen attacks in quite the opposite fashion, I pretty much used one if I had one to get the 100 defeats as quick as I could so I would have more time to defeat the enemy officer.

Although funnily enough when I'm in a tough fight I tend to regret that and wish I had one left.

Another thing about them is I don't normally like having a time frame on things but in Rampages I find the time limit an enjoyable part of the challenge, and the rewards for a victory are so nice. ^_^

Oh, you know when I first responded to this, I thought the "musou-like" attack was called the rampage. I'm sorry, it's been a while since I played the game. But yeah... I was talking about Kessen attacks DURING Rampage mode.

As for the Rampage itself, yeah I used it often because it's an excellent way to train up the weaker generals. In fact, I usually tried to use a Rampage with every character at least once per battle, especially during the optional rebel battles where there isn't a whole lot at stake.

I only use it when there's a ton of guys around and for the purpose of getting extra stuff. I actually like this mode... It is tedious, but no less tedious then the rest of the game.
