OFF TOPIC: Pre DW6, Cao Cao's final weapon was called Wrath of Heaven. The more realistic name is Sword of Heaven, which is Cao Cao's standard weapon in DW6.

Cao Cao had two legendary swords: Sword of Heaven and Sword of Light (translated as Blue Blade in DW6 I believe). Sword of Light was actually STOLEN by Zhao Yun! And Seven Star Sword was the sword he tried to assassinate Dong Zhuo with... but failed.

Anyway, I'm having trouble describing Yue Ying's "bladed bow"... how it works, it's projectiles, etc...

It's basically a gauntlet with an retractable blade and a capacity to fire off bullet like projectiles. The bullets don't make a lot of sense though given there's no obvious clue as to where the ammunition is stored.

It's an arm-mounted blade, retractable using spring-loaded fins that connect to the blade via bowstring to retract or eject the blade. When retracted, the weapon can blast out fireball projectiles. Think of it like a portable version of Ieyasu's cannon-spear.

For the names - Her red/power weapon is Kougetsu, her blue weapon is Sougetsu, and her green weapon is Suigetsu.

Her blue weapon Sougetsu (青月) has the same Kanji as her old 3rd weapon (Sou) and is pronounced the same, so it can be assumed that it's 'Blue Moon' (and I do have to correct a major mistake in this post; where I said her 3rd weapon was called 'Yellow Moon' - and it's clearly not. My mistake!).

Her red/power weapon is Kougetsu (紅月). The 'Kou' in 'Kougetsu' is a deep red/crimson, so the translation is 'Crimson Moon'. The kanji for 'Kou' can be read as 'Aka', but it's not the same as the main 'red' kanji.

Her green/default weapon is Suigetsu (翆月); and the 'Sui' in Suigetsu is green. So it's 'Green Moon' - or if you want, 'Jade Moon' (the 'Sui' is the second Kanji in the word for Jade - Hisui).

This is what I read after watching a few videos with her weapons menu (thanks again, Tetsuo!) - but I think it's correct... it makes sense (you can see the pattern, it's similar but different to her old weapon names, etc.).

I think Mama Yue Ying's weapon is based on a repeating crossbow.

Heh, as i've stated before, i see Yue's Weapon as this frealy combination of Magoichi(bayonet?), Masamune(Small "gun"), Yoshitsune(The look of her weapon) and Himiko(The shape of her "bullets").

Also, i think i prefer her English bow name...so i hope they keep it

They very well might... I don't know what the names for her bows were, but I would imagine they were something very similar to the naming scheme she has for the bladed bow.

Do you know what the other names for her bow was?

Well, we've seen her Musou Kakusei form!

I'm happy with it. I'm incredibly happy that they incorporated elements from her DW5 design! Specifically the upper-bicep Dragon-Head armor, the green sash around her waist, a headdress similar to the previous one (in silhouette) and the half-return of her flowing battle skirt.

I'm also incredibly happy with how they rendered her; clearly letting us see her heavily armoured left-arm - it's offensive armor, allowing her right arm to be free to slash and fire the cannon aspect.

And the blond works - the glittery golden blond; it's a neat visual allusion to both her last name and her Moon associations.

The way they rendered this considering her posture and choice of design is important - it's an excellent example of placing her in a context where she's actually wearing less than her normal DW6 design, but this render position is miles and above in giving her agency and showcasing her assertiveness - thus, the amount of skin showing isn't distributed in a sexual manner. The first DW6 render... didn't really showcase her agency welll; though the DW6S did very much so.

Anyways, I have to say that her design is among the top so far, out of the females, personally the best... I just like the hair, the weapon format it wielded on her right arm and such...

Okay i just leveled her to 50 in DW6 and although she shares SSX MSi have to say that wicked bow S-string is DEADLY.

I prefer her to SSX for 2 reasons:

-She doesnt look like a pixie, yet she is sexy.

-While SSX has fire arrows as special, Yue Ying has Ballista bolts in hers..which is a insta-win for me.

Oh, also she sounds a lil older

In case they haven't been posted; the English names of her weapons are Jade Crescent, Opal Crescent and Sapphire Crescent.

Here's a run-down of her narrative for those of you whom can't get it (organized by stage and paraphrased at times);

----

Briefing (Chang Ban):
Cao Cao and Liu Bei; these two emerged as heroes during the troubled times that faced China, yet they were following vastly different paths. Cao Cao surrounded himself with numerous skilled officers and distinguished himself from the other rulers following the Yellow Turban Rebellion.

On the other hand, Liu Bei believed in honour and virtue. At Chang Ban, he risked his life to protect his people as they fled. The daughter of Huang Chengyan, Yue Ying, looked on as Liu Bei struggled to save his people and was moved to act...

Into the Fray (Pre-Chang Ban):
Yue Ying: My name is Yue Ying. I have come here at my father's request to help Lord Liu Bei.
Liu Bei: Oh! Thank you for coming. We could use the help.
Yue Ying: No, for I will only be able to help for the coming battle. Once it is complete, my obligation will have been fulfilled.
Zhuge Liang: We understand. You will see and hear much. I am sure you will discover something.
Yue Ying: Please forgive my rudeness. Now, if you will excuse me.
Liu Bei: A most impressive young woman.
Zhuge Liang: Yes, so she is.
Yue Ying: My father, also said that I might find something while I am here. I wonder what it might be...

In Chang Ban:
Yue Ying: With the people slowing him down, he will surely be taken over by the enemy...!
Zhuge Liang: Yes, but to abandon his people and selfishly escape on his own... Master Liu Bei could never live with the shame. Lady Yue Ying, I ask you to help safeguard our people.

Zhuge Liang: Yue Ying, your skills in battle are worthy of praise. Everyone, I want you to follow her example.

Zhuge Liang: I am indebted to your assistance, Yue Ying. Thanks to you, the people were saved.
Yue Ying: I do not require your gratitude... I only did what I thought was right.

In The Warmth of The Setting Sun (Post-Chang Ban):
Zhuge Liang: So, here you are. Because of you, we were able to escape from this battle. I thank you. You were, looking at the people we saved?
Yue Ying: Yes. Just what is the kind of world that Lord Liu Bei seeks?
Zhuge Liang: The world my lord envisions, is one where people can live in peace... One where, a scene such as this would be usual and commonplace.
Yue Ying: Everybody... seems so happy... Surely, our paths will cross again. Farewell.

Briefing (Chi Bi):
Thanks to Yue Ying's timely assistance, Liu Bei was able to escape Cao Cao's clutches. After crossing into Jiang Dong, Liu Bei formed a loose alliance with Sun Quan to oppose the rising strength and influence of Cao Cao.

At this time, a proposal of marriage was arranged between Yue Ying and Zhuge Liang. Meanwhile, Liu Bei and Sun Quan moved together to strike Cao Cao at Chi Bi. Yue Ying also took to the battlefield, fighting for Liu Bei and watching over Zhuge Liang...

Southeast Wind (Pre-Chi Bi):
Yue Ying: I felt that we would meet again, but not under such circumstances.
Zhuge Liang: Yes, I felt the same.
Yue Ying: Our marriage, was my father's decision but.. I could not say it was entirely against my will. In this battle, I will watch over Shu no, I will watch over you, yourself.
Zhuge Liang: I, would be honoured. Now then... Can you feel it? The Southeast Wind?
Yue Ying: Hmmm.... Yes, I can.

Chi Bi:
Zhuge Liang: The enemy will surely move to attack the altar. Lady Yue Ying, may I leave its defense to you?

Zhuge Liang: I have reached the limits of what I can accomplish on my own. My lady, will you not fight together with me?
Yue Ying: Lord Zhuge Liang, I am moved by your words. Yes, I would be delighted to fight alongside you to victory!

Zhuge Liang: (Makes a comment about how his lord's path has been illuminated by the light of this battle; sorry - I forgot there was post battle dialogue and was too slow to write it!)
Yue Ying: Indeed... it also seems that this battle has blessed my path with light as well.

Two Souls Intertwine (Post-Chi Bi):
Yue Ying: The moon is quite beautiful.
Zhuge Liang: Yes, a stark contrast to the chaos. I hope that this moon is able to illuminate the path that you would walk...
Yue Ying: I must ask you something. What is it that you seek?
Zhuge Liang: That which hinders my lord... destiny, hate, pride and sacrifice... If I bear those burdens in his place, then he will be the light that guides this world. That is my sole purpose. To bear the burden of peace.
Yue Ying: That burden... would you allow me to carry half of it?

Briefing (Jing):
Following the victory at Chi Bi, Liu Bei moved on to seize the provinces of Jing and Yi, thereby establishing the era of the Three Kingdoms. Wu had been hoping to take Jing as spoils of war, but Zhuge Liang had planned all along to keep it for Shu to realize his Three Kingdoms strategy.

Angry with Shu's actions, Wu mobolized to take Jing by force. Realizing that the loss of both Jing and its protector Guan Yu would be devastating to Shu's cause, Zhuge Liang and Yue Ying rushed to Guan Yu's side...

A Deepening Bond (Pre-Jing):
Yue Ying: Lord Zhuge Liang, are you hurt?
Zhuge Liang: Yue Ying. No, I am okay now.
Yue Ying: My love, watch out! ... Ah! I should not have called you... please forgive me.
Zhuge Liang: I do not mind... Yue Ying.
Yue Ying: Then, shall we go? My dearest love.

Jing:
Yue Ying: Master Guan Yu is in danger... we must stop the Wu army.

Yue Ying: Lord Zhuge Liang, do the enemy's movements not seem unnatural to you?
Zhuge Liang: We are of the same mind. Jiang Ling Castle certainly is suspicious. Yue Ying, would you please go and investigate?

(Zhuge Liang's message about the route being cut off; and going out alone, and Sun Quan's about him being exposed)
Yue Ying: Lord Zhuge Liang, alone you are vulnerable... I will accompany you!

Zhuge Liang: Yue Ying, your presence was invaluable today. I hope I can continue to count on your brilliance in the future.

Briefing (Ding Jun):
Shu repelled the Wu attack and gained undisputed dominance over Jing. Next, the Shu army moved north to attack Wei. Its target was Han Zhong, the land of Liu Bei's ancestors. The prospect of taking such hallowed ground greatly boosted the morale of the Shu troops.

Despite the excitement, Zhuge Liang remained calm and collected as always. Only Yue Ying noticed the deep contemplation taking place within her husband's mind. She set out to battle, determined to help make his dreams a reality...

In The Soft Glow (Pre-Ding Jun):
Zhuge Liang: The morale of the troops seems quite high. And now, if only these goods can be delivered safely...
Yue Ying: Shu is well defended... I'm sure there is no need for concern. ... In order to ease your concern, I developed a new invention. Do you wish to see it?
Zhuge Liang: Yue Ying... I could not have asked for a more fitting wife than you.

Ding Jun:
Zhuge Liang: Yue Ying, would you mind accompanying me to Mt. Cha Qi?
Yue Ying: Of course, my dear. You needn't even bother to ask.

Zhuge Liang: Yue Ying, splendidly done as always. It is an eternal honour to have you as my wife.
Yue Ying: You always did have a way with words... The honor is all mine, my dear.

Briefing (Han Zhong):
With the victory at Mt. Ding Jun, Shu was in a position to claim the lands of Han Zhong as its own. However, this celebration was to be short-lived as news of Guan Yu's death at the hands of Wu and Wei arrived. Enraged, Liu Bei moved to attack Wu and avenge his fallen brother.

The resulting instability caused Shu to lose its advantage and again have to face Wei for superiority over Han Zhong. Knowing that this battle would decide the future of both Shu and Wei, Yue Ying and Zhuge Liang vowed to lead their forces to victory...

Hand in Hand (Pre-Han Zhong):
Yue Ying: At Yi Ling, you preformed admirably.
Zhuge Liang: Hmm... However, Master Guan Yu had a special place in our lord's heart. His vengeance... there was no way but to attack Wu.
Yue Ying: I understand. But I beg of you, don't try and endure it by yourself. I promised to help you. Don't you remember it?
Zhuge Liang: Yue Ying... Indeed I am truly blessed to have such a beloved wife.
Yue Ying: As am I... Now then, let us ride for Han Zhong!

Han Zhong:
Zhuge Liang: In preparation for the battles to come, we must secure Han Zhong. My dear, I am counting on you.
Yue Ying: My strength is but a pittance, but, as your wife I can ill-afford to embarrass you, no?

Zhen Ji: I pity you as well. Having such a weak husband must leave you unfulfilled, I would imagine.
Yue Ying: There is none who can compare to my lord's integrity and wisdom. Not that you or your lord would even know what that is.

A Weakening Flame (Post-Han Zhong):
Yue Ying: My lord!
Zhuge Liang: Ah, Lady Yue Ying...
Yue Ying: My beloved, are not feeling well this morning?
Zhuge Liang: No, there is nothing for you to worry about.
Yue Ying: But, you do not sound like you are well.
Zhuge Liang: We just finished a long hard battle, and my fatigue is showing I think. Yue Ying, you too should rest.

Briefing (Wu Zhang Plains):
Having driver Wei from Han Zhong for good, Shu was poised and ready to deal the finishing blow. To this end, Zhuge Liang urged the army further north to enter a final confrontation at the Wu Zhang Plains.

Zhuge Liang stood upon the Wu Zhang Plains as the foliage swayed with the autumn winds. However, the years of endless fighting had finally caught up with him, and he fell ill from the fatigue of war. Although concerned over her husband's health, Yue Ying swore to fulfill his wishes and rode out for one last battle...

A Doting Wife (Pre-Wu Zhang Plains):
Yue Ying (to soldiers): I want you to reinforce that wall.
Soldier: Yes, my lady!
Yue Ying: Go and assist those men. I'm counting on you.
Zhao Yun: Perhaps he's pushing himself too hard?
Yue Ying: Yes, my husband is always working hard to achieve his dream.
Zhao Yun: Master Zhuge Liang is not alone. We all must do what is required. We are all fighting for our true purpose, so we stand on the battlefield.
Yue Ying: You're right. In that case, our roles are clear. In order to protect what is dear to us, we must fight with all our strength.

Wu Zhang Plains:
Yue Ying: I see... You will use the feigned discord between you and Wei Yan to lure Wei in. Brilliant as ever, my dear.

Zhuge Liang: Yue Ying, the plan was a success. We shall defeat Wei and create a virtuous new world.
Yue Ying: Yes, my love. Finally, we shall bring an end to the chaos that plagues this land.

Zhen Ji: Is your frail husband well? Or have his remains already been scattered to the winds?
Yue Ying: My lord is the light that illuminates this dark, chaotic world, while yours is nothing more than an uncouth mongrel.

Zhuge Liang: An end to this chaotic world is at least within reach. Yue Ying, without your caring support, I would have been lost entirely.
Yue Ying: No - since finding you, my life has new purpose. I owe you everything, my love.

Peach Blossoms (Ending):
Zhuge Liang: The blossoms are beautiful...
Yue Ying: My love! Please don't strain yourself.
Zhuge Liang: I'm alright. Not full strength... but I think I'll be fine. As I look at the peach blossoms, I wish that could but be able to allow one more flower to bloom.
Yue Ying: My love, I'm sure that all you've done is more than enough. For now, I insist that your strategies focus on getting some rest.
Zhuge Liang: Yue Ying, I knew since we met that we were fated for each other.

EDIT: The majority of the actual script (which means I removed descriptions; you should be able to figure out what's happening from context or the like). I've missed a few of the lines after the battle since you can't pause, and I'll add those at some point.

Despite the massive rise in popularity that I just cannot grasp, Yue Ying is one of the better females of the DW series, I find. Granted, I will never, ever love her new weapon as much as I loved that Putter Scythe, I do respect some bits of her personality and a love her rivalry with Zhen Ji (considering it's the only thing that's made her unique I suppose, as opposed to only being there to blindly support her husband. At least Ying has a nasty feud with another set of boobies to keep me entertained).

Also, no matter how much I rag on the wives for being there to provide boobies and support for their husbands, I do adore Zhuge Liang/Yue Ying for the most part. They seem to fit well with each other, especially in DW4XL. They're a much better couple in my eyes than Sun Ce/Da Qiao, that's for damn sure. (CURSE YOU QIAO FANS)

However, I haven't played her story in DW6 yet. Honestly? I don't want to. I see Chang Ban and immediately all inspiration to play the game is shot down the gutter, especially since I just don't like her new weapon.

Yeah, without a doubt Yue Ying is my favorite female. To me she is a warrior wife. She offers a lot more to the series than the other girls, she just as that aura. I have to admit though I was a little worried when I knew characters were removed from DW6, I thought she was a goner but I was proved thankfully wrong.

She's pretty damn cool in all DW's. Her range and scythe was a big miss for me initially but I got over it, looking forward to playing with her decloned in Empires. Thing I don't understand though is the whole 'unattractive' subject, she certainly isn't portrayed unattractive in DW  . Maybe this is because she was ugly people wouldn't want to play as her so much unfortunately. However in history in a way I hope she wasn't gorgeous as it makes her even better in a sense as it makes her's and Zhuge's relationship that more special I think. Glad she was introduced to the game, I know due to popularity now she aint going nowhere ;) .

Well, in video games, you can have ugly men, fat men, gross men that make you want to puke every time they pop up on screen (see DW6 Dong Zhuo), but HEAVEN FORBID you have a non-attractive female. According to Koei, unattractive women = less than stellar boobs, because excluding the Qiaos, Yue Ying does have a rather smaller bust than SSX, Diao Chan, Zhu Rong and Zhen Ji. So, I guess to video game standards, smaller boobs = NOT PRETTY in regards to women. You can't seriously think Zhuge Liang married Yue Ying because she was SMART, did you? Hell no, there has to be outward beauty as well.

In all honesty, if Koei would have started her off right and made her a little dorkier looking (sort of like how she was in Kessen II, minus the brain rape that was her voice and over the top WTF personality), with a tendency to get more into her inventions, and not so much her husband, then Yue Ying would have been great.

On paper, she kind of reminds me of Lucca from Chrono Trigger. Not the prettiest of the ladies but was definitely the brains, had a tendency to get over excited about her work and technology, but also had a huge heart dedicated to her friends/love interest. Granted, Lucca was my favorite female in CT (Ayla is second because she kicks serious butt), and if Yue Ying was a teeny, tiny more like her, I'd get over any hostilities I might have for her. She's still my second favorite female in the DW series (right behind Zhu Rong).

Oh, btw, I'm fond of Hu Zhi in Kessen II. Koei needs another woman like her...
