Obsessive Yue Ying Fan OMG Posts: 1,696 Group: Members Member #9,822 Joined: September 20, 2007 Gender Male	Quick anecdote (not even) - I recently bought Musou Orochi for PS2 because I was craving something new and it was prime for character interaction and new alliances, etc. But to my surprise, beyond that I found something new - the Sengoku Musou characters are pretty cool (ironically, in Sengoku I have tended towards to men while I Dynasty Warriors I love the women way more). So yeah, I was browsing though who I'd unlocked when I came across Kanetsugu Naoe. I was in love. Well, not really but I thought he was awesome. And I started playing with him and I just thought he was so fun! He uses seals and a sword and he respects and understands love and honour and I think he has an amazing visual design. It really stands out among the group work and I think it's pretty gorgeous. Plus, I like the fact he has this cool thick lips - Nice visual differentiation and big lipped people need love. Actually, it's more like he's good looking but not in a very typical way, so I like. Then I go to the dreaded internet. Oh, dreaded internet - Through you I learn that Naoe is hated with a venom because of his incessant love and honour talk and his big lips and the like. Maybe not here on KW, but in LJ communities and the like he seems to be pretty reviled. My heart! Broken! But not really! My first thought was 'Man, I lived through DW5's Yue Ying 'My husband! My husband! My husband! I wish I was my husband! I love my husband!'' so I don't know if these people knew pain. Granted, my only exposure of playing with him is through Musou Orochi. I've never played any of the Samurai Warrior games at all, and now I want to get the one he's in. Anyways, what do you guys think? Do you hate him? Or join forces with me for the Kanetsugu love?

But its no worse than Ma Chao. However if you've played the Odawara level in SW2 that quote is one that will stand the test of time in all warriors games. It makes some cringe but its still memorable. Now as a character I really like him in the game. Alot like his boy Mitsunari, it took a while for him to grow on me. The two of them even without attack bonuses on thier weapons make up for it with pretty good movesets. His string all the way to his C4 is good to me. Good at clearing crowds and his level 3 musou rules. He's even good on a horse as well. But in Warriors Orochi, he's one of the ones that gained a lackluster special. Thats only my opinion now, Ive heard some people use it for certain things and it works for them. They did tone his persona down a little in WO, but they did that to everyone in a way.

Really~? Hmmmm. That's all cool to find out...

Psh, I picked up DW on a whim becuase I like certain Japanese interpretations of Chinese culture. :lol: Of course I wouldn't pick up Samurai Warriors considering I'm a little sick of the superhype Japanophiles tend to create. But if you guys they're good, then I shall. Besides, in SW1 I still have Magoichi, Okuni and No. And they're fun. @TheRyanHimself - Bahahha, but Tokugawa's so cute. Imagine him as a plushie.

(maybe he couldnt aim because his lips where in his line of sight) No, to be honest i never even noticed his lips. I guess im not a guy-lip kind of person. He has an interesting image, and i dont mind the love and honor comments. If i need to be irritated by anything it will definatly be the new voice of hideyoshi, it made me quit using him alltogether. Naoe is like a soft breeze in my ears compared to hideyoshi.

I second the notion to get the Samurai Warriors games, they are awesome and sre superior to the DW series in some ways and if you like Noh then IMO she's sooo much better in SW1 than in Sw2, she has a better voice and a much better persona. To improve Kanetsugu i'd definitely get him to tone down on all the honour crap, i really detest how he says it like a kazillion times each level, i detest that as much as Ma Chao's justice talks and Yue Ying's/Zhen Ji's/Noh's(SW2 persona) husband obsession. But other then tone down his honour obssession there isnt a lot to change IMO as he's a pretty much awesome character (would've been my favourite but you can guess why not) As Tesouken said they could change his musou in a way that makes it more easier to get enemies, maybe longer range or the inclusion of his sword. But his design is perfect in my mind and good luck playing SW if you decide to get it, you wont be dissapointed.

And yes change his musou. If you freeze an enemy first and then do his level 3 musou attack they have virtually no chance of living even of hell difficulty.

But at least they joke about it IN the game. That makes me feel like they are aware of it, and it's all in good fun. On a side not...I tend to familiarize his helmet with Boba Fett's ****, the Slave 1 from Star Wars. Hence why I use to call him "Slave 1 Head."

The three of them are my WO team for personality The ONLY problem with Kanetsugu: The Rather weak musou. I turn my character to aim ALL of the little beam things at the officer (In the opposite direction of the way he normally goes, so it slows down the radius of where the beams fire, so theyre limited to right in front of me, pummeling whatever was unlucky enough to be in such a position) but even when they ALL hit, its usually better to just do his C2 during his Musou. Don't know why, but it needs to be less garbage and more WIN. And what does he say at Odawara? I cannot remember to save my life what he said and my TV is occupied. Damn this is gonna bother me. Kanetsugu=Win. Only change his musou.
	I hereby vow, on March 4th, 2009, that if I encounter a spammer and lose twice in a row, my Brawl disc will be shattered to peices and I will have photographic proof. This will remain in my sig until said event happens.

His moveset is ok, same goes to musou, though a bit similar with Zuo Ci, but still, he's cool!!! Of course speaking 'bout honour, I think he was a bit carried away with that, But not as serious as Nagamasa... :lol:

Ma Chao, Nagamasa, Kanetsugu... Liu Bei started to get to me in DW5 and I used to love him Besides that... Kanetsugu is so ridiculous. He has some cool weapons, and a good moveset but he's soooooooo weak and his musou is sooooooooooooo weak and he is soooooooo annoying XD His commentary on everything just... kills me a little inside every time I hear it. Ugh ugh ugh. You get the story before the chapter starts, you don't need his stupid Kenshin-fanboying during the battle too! And I don't like his happy face - it grosses me out. I wouldn't despise him so much if he just SHUT UP once in a while. And for the record : Thank heavens someone else said something about Yue Ying's husband chasing in DW5. She was badass in 4... now she's a moron.

He has a much deeper and more serious voice over. But he's also not used as much in the storyline after Kyushu in the SW story. So, like the majority of the roster, you dont get to hear his usual self.

Posts: 2,385 Group: Members Member #9,380 Joined: August 25, 2007	kanetsugu is the best well one of the best he is okay but sometimes he does get annoying when he talks about justice and all that. but i think overall he is a good character to play with. he doesn't look very hedious like dong zhou in dw6 and he doesn't have a lame move set so i think he will go somewhere in the middle, my favourite charcter has to be musashi. kanetsugu can go somewhere in the middle where he isn't my fav character or my worst character.

Anyway,Kanetsugu is fine with me.Hes in my top 10 i believe,didnt die in the choas mode at least for the entire storyline.The one i mosly use is his S string.His moveset is kind of average.
