Feel free to vote for and discuss what you believe is the best series/game by KOEI. Please refrain from simply posting only what you decide to vote, providing at least one sentence describing your selection will suffice and be a better platform to discuss and compare your decision to fellow KW members. Due to this new thread both Shogun and I have agreed to close other such topics comparing KOEI games (well probably until another new major one is released). Vote, discuss and enjoy! |

I believe that Warriors Orochi is the best in the series cause it's the first time they've ever created a cross-over game and it has probably made KOEI and the DW/SW series more popular now IMO. |

Dynasty Warriors without a doubt. The series that started me off with DW2, so that could be much of the reason why I prefer it over SW2. But I can't really say to tell you the truth.... The only thing SW has over it in my opinion is the music. I just prefer the music from that series overall. Dynasty Warriors has just been struggling with keeping the music outstanding IMO. It started off great and kind of went downhill for me. The only track that's good in number 5 is He Fei Castles. Whilst DW3 had many good tracks. And DW4 had a different, yet more suttle soothing approach. |

I believe Dynasty Warriors is Koei's best series as other the years the name Koei has become synonymous with Dynasty Warriors, and DW has been Koei greatest money pumper, when they release a Dynasty Warriors game, they know sales are going to go through the roof, and i've grown up playing the DW games and have grown to be loyal to them so thats how i got to know Koei and if it wasnt for DW, we wouldnt have got great games Warriors Orochi, Samurai Warriors (though SW is a close second for me, i absolutely loved SW2) and Dynasty Tactics and i think it has surpassed the ROTK in terms of popularity and attracting consumers. So thats why i chose DW
.(PS Good work Sakon on achieving Mod status, its nice to see an Aussie on the team and you deserve it mate) |

Bladestorm and Kessen, DW and SW can get a little boring when you keep playing the series and follow the same plot over and over again, knowing what's going to happen next. I just played the Bladestorm demo two days ago, and it's pretty good for a strategy game. Also, Kessen has a unique storyline and you never know what's going to happen next, I thought Honnoji would be the last level where Nobunaga dies, and who would've thought that Liu Bei was Cao Cao's brother in Kessen II? Anyway, back to Bladestorm, I'm glad Koei came up with something new and decided to move to European history, and making a whole new genre this time. I doubt there's a game too similar to Bladestorm, it's almost like a mix between KUF or Ninety-Nine Nights. Too bad there isn't a Dynasty Tactics 3, I would've voted for that if it was still around. I thought it was slightly better than ROTK, since it is less complicated. I liked the cutscenes, the character designs, the gameplay, and everything else. As for ROTK, I only started playng it from VII, and I can see huge improvements in between the games, especially ROTK XI. I would've liked it even better if it was based on history instead of the novel though. |

Bladestorm is a pretty good game (im judging by the demo) but a series it aint, to me it seems like Bladestorm is a perfect stand alone game and that adding more just wouldnt suit the type of game it is, maybe i'm just being short sighted or weird but i personally cant see a Bladestorm sequel (what could it include?), but maybe Bladestorm could have sequels but each of them set in a different part of British/French history as the Hundred Years War is like a subtitle, Maybe Bladestorm: Norman's Conquest would be a suitable sequel
(that would be so cool)PS: Sorry for going a tad of topic

Looks like I get to give Kessen its first vote, I'm on the same wavelength of Shogun it seems. What I have seen so far of Bladestorm looks very good, and I also appreciate a new avenue for the Koei games to explore; while it will probably take some getting used to it’s good to see they aren’t just one/two dimensional, despite many fans demanding DW6 this, DW6 that. I’ve briefly had a look at the Dynasty Tactics games, but something about it just didn’t interest me and I’ve not delved into it very deep at all, so I can’t really comment on it other then first impressions were not good. Kessen...I just love the series. Compared to the Warriors titles I feel it presents the stories the best of them all; even if highly fictional in some areas such as Kessen 2 in particular. But even in back on the much older first Kessen the FMV's and story attached with it was rather amazing; just unfortunately the gameplay let it down. Come Kessen II we got our hands on a fantastic RTS style game which allowed many variables between battles and a unique story to say the least. Then with Kessen III, I just fell in love with it. The story in the game is just unbelievable, full of surprises, comedy and historical content. Added with what I feel is simply an outstanding Action/RTS combination...this game had me hooked for so many months and even now I still play it. No Warriors title alone has ever had me as addicted, in fact not many games period match how much Kessen III addicted me; hence writing guides and god knows what about it… Don't get me wrong, I think the Warriors titles are fantastic; just no single title in either of the main Warriors series have managed to hold my interest over countless months like the Kessen titles did - II & III in particular. So for that reason I’ll give Kessen one of likely few votes. @ Astus, thanks mate! =D |

Dynasty Warriors series are the best in my opinion, although the mini-game Sugoroku from Samurai Warriors 2 was very enjoyable, still play it sometimes. Warriors Orochi can't really be counted as a series but it was good in a sense that the characters from 2 major series were able to merge. |

Wow....your like the opposite of me  We both started at DW2...but I like SW series more, but like the DW music more DW2 and DW3 had the best music in DW, I agree, but DW5 had quite a lot. I liked Run, Run, Run and Swordsen on the Plain as well as Dual NRP and then theres Great Red Spirit...and the list goes on. I say SW is the best series (that I've played anyway), because it has the same elements that make me like DW, but it is put together better, for now anyway. It has brought in more features, has a bigger difference between characters, and I generally like Samurai and Ninja better than any other type of warriors  SW1 was better for some parts that SW2 and than any DW game IMO. The game play was quite good, and introduced missions in it, but the split routes in the campaign and some of the clips were better than some other games. SW2 added the special system, and generally the SW series added the duel bars and horse bars as well. Oh, and why Warriors Orochi isn't even considered to be the best IMO....it lacks a proper storyline, though it is a unique one. Some characters have too little a role in the game, and it seems generally like a bad job. I do enjoy the 3 team system, but its not enough to even consider as the best. Even my favourite kingdom's story sucks in it...It wa sokay, but I didn't like the whole Zhao Yun search for Liu Bei through ALL 8 levels! ROTK is a good series, and has something I've like about it (well maybe not the series, I've only played 1 game) It could be there best game, but sadly I've only played ROTK 8, because none after that came out here So, I can't really comment if its the best or not.

Whenever a topic like this is made, Dynasty Warriors will always have my vote. I love the characters, I love the gameplay and I love the story. I became a fan after playing a DW2 demo and I soon bought the game. I've been hooked ever since. I never get tired of hacking and slashing and the only game genre I like more is RPG's. DW used to rank 4th among my lists of favorite series along with Zelda, Metal Gear and Final Fantasy. After many years of releasing games and keeping me happy it now ranks 1st, along with Samurai Warriors of course. I love the Samurai Warriors series but the only reason I rank it below DW is the fact that DW has Kingdoms. |

SW has factions, which gives you a variety of storylines, at least more than DW does, I don't see how having "kingdoms" is a good reason for DW or SW being better than the other. Plus, SW is always released after DW is, so it's usually better than the newest DW series, like how SW2 was better than DW5. |

My vote goes to the Samurai Warriors series. Dont get me wrong. DW is still a great game series, and im probably going to get dw6 as long as i get a 360 or ps3. But, I just like samurai warriors better. I played DW3 (First Koei Game) and then dw4, then i heard about samurai warriors. I was a little confused as to whether or not it was a Koei game until i actually read about it (I only played games at other friends' houses at the time) and I read about it on some website, and I got a PS2 earlier that year, so I bought SW1. The characters all had such personality. Most people in DW dont, a few that stand out to me are Zhang He, Sima Yi, Ma Chao, and Sun Ce. But Mitsuhide was all about the Virtue, Nobunaga the evil-voiced champion, Sandada, the determined hero, Goemon, the blundering love-struck theif, Magoichi, the playboy, the fun character to know.. Need i say anything about Ranmaru, Hideyoshi, or Yoshimoto? Keiji? Shingen? Dont think so. The names speak for themselves. Also, rolling, weapon deadlock finishers/meters, 6 weapons, great music (dw3 and dw5 were awesome, I only liked a few tracks from dw4, mainly hu lao gate, which is great in every game, dont forget..) and, samurai warriors has, mostly of all, great voice acting. So much passion in Sanada, Akechi, and Magoichi (For the women!). As i said before, Oda just sounded EVIL. Shingen sounded funny yet cool. Ranmaru.. It's just a great game series. The characters had more personality in Kessen 3, but SW1 came close in my opinion. I never played 1 or 2, only picked up 3 because it was a bargain bin game. If this included capcom games, i could say alot more about Onimusha series and Basara. But, Koei only..Samurai Warriors just had so much replay value, with the different missions and such, just such a good experience. |

I like DW, SW, Warriors Orochi and Kessen equally. However I voted for Kessen for its outstanding story, beautiful graphic and unique gameplay. And Kessen was the reason I picked up SW2. I got so interested in Kessen III characters that I decided to play SW2 to learn more about them. Character like Nubunaga, Mitsuhide, Kicho (No in SW), Shingen, Kenshin, Ieyasu, Tadakatsu and Monkey (I can't remember his real name I don't know why, I guess because in Kessen III they always call him Monkey) |
