In anticipation for Bladestorm I thought i'd start playing the game's roots again, Kessen III, I popped it in and started playing it on my PS3, and god I forgot how much I loved this game. Just enough strategy to pull me in, but enough action to keep me involved. The characters are great(far superior to the SW-counterparts I'd say, especially Ranmaru), the scenes are great, and it's awesome to see the history unfold. Anyone else start playing again recently? It's a real good 'teaser' to Bladestorm's debut. |

Yes, in fact I bought this game this year and loved it! I feel that this game had amazing strategy, good battles, and Koei's best character devolpment. The story had a nice mixture of romance, comedy, and action. The cutscenes always kept me wanting to play the game more and more. The game's difficulty is nice too. I'm glad someone else is playing this game because it really does deserve a lot of credit and it gets shadowed by SW and DW. Me and Sakon were the only ones talking about this game before. |

Indeed PotatoSamurai, I'm currently working on a replay which is been delayed thanks to Orochi...but I love it. I'm on Chapter 7 atm on the hard difficulty which is a real challenge...as for the story I absolutely love it. Hideyoshi & Shibata having their own rival style relationship, Toshiie picking on his childhood friend Nagahide. XD It’s always strange coming across guys from Samurai Warriors as well which aren’t as major in it too, in a couple of missions I’ve come across Magoichi with a rifle unit…I guess the unit type is the same but that aside you hear next to nothing from him as he is pretty much generic. A great story with decent comedy at times as well, it's one of my favourite games for sure, very underated series; at least for Kessen III anyway. |

Yea K3 is a good time. Hideyoshi gets raped..LOL. Literally. It was quite hard, i actually lost a few levels.. i usually dont lose :angry: |

I plan to pick this game up again, but like Sakon, Orochi delayed it.
 I'm honestly disappointed with how little of the game I played. I think I just got frustrated with trying to get every hidden officer. (you should NEVER go for 100% completion the first time you play a game...
 ) That and the fact that I was constantly picking my weakest units so I could keep everyone balanced. This time I'm picking a team and sticking with it.

See if my guide helps if you plan again then. As for officers, yeah pick your strong ones on Major/Decisive missions; use weaker ones on the Minor ones though; otherwise you'll waste exp. That's what I do anyway! I actually look forward to my Orochi fix ending; I like the idea of been able to get back into this...again! |

Shakon has the best strategy for training people I used it on my playthrough too. Try not to use Nobunaga on the minor battles to help get everyone else up because he really does sap exp more than anyone. I'm starting a new playthrough on hard and it isn't too difficult because you get to keep your abilities from the previous playthrough like LV5 heal. Also you get to equipt Oda with his best armor and sword in the very beginning. I know Takeda's level will be a challenge on hard for sure.

That's absurd...even here in Australia which is usually one of the last to receive games have it. I'm surprised it's not everywhere if it's in Australia...  You could probably order one on eBay though I guess, for whether your PAL or NTSC the game has releases for both formats; if you really wanted it I guess. Thanks for the compliment PotatoSamurai. And yeah, the bonus weapons etc make the harder difficulty not as hard; IF you continue over to it with a similar save file. Although I’ve not noticed if you start the game on hard without continual file though you lose all those bonuses. It makes it even tougher which I'm currently experiencing... I tried the Final Battle of Mikawa on Hard and only just got through; lost a few allies and no chance whatsoever of an S rank. If you really want to push yourself aim for straight S ranks on Hard...that's hardcore. XD |

KESSEN III is my fav. KOEI game. I complated it in every difficulty easily. but in Extreme I was diong fine but I lost my game before I complate it... |

Well, if you look at my super old topic, you will noticed that I play pretty much over and over again until I win and get S to get items... http://z13.invisionfree.com/koeiwarriors/i...?showtopic=5026. By the end of 1st playthrough, my game clock is 99:90, but real time is 2x of that total time since I keep reset a lot. I also completed the 3 Special Battles. I feel that the worth of items are reverse to the difficulty of the wars in Special Battles... Here is the remaining stuffs (and along with some other stuffs from 1st round) to do for 2nd round after completed the first one in like early-April 2007:
NOTE: The way to get "Records of the Grand Historian" is directly from GameFAQs and that's true. I have to repeat like 5 times to get that the hardest skill book to get ever! Nice completion rate there Pan2007. On my file I have only 3 items in total and it's driving me insane trying to find them, with an overall completion of 99%. I've got my own item guide up here as well, which is everything I have found. I even had a few discussions with s20mike who wrote a similar guide on Gfaqs (after my original one too btw...) who had problems finding some items, although I don't think he found anything I had not previously. Part of my current replay is to try finding those three elusive items I'm missing. I'll try note the exact ones when I can get the game on again to try pointing them out. I don't think I've got that Records of the Grand Historian one...hmm not sure. I know I've done a few missions where you have to bolt towards your bases and defend them in order to win. The item name doesn't match my guide, it that is the English version name? It's just one of those near finished completions I'd love to get, damn 99%... |

Yes, it is... Here is the screenshot. Here is the barriers with 20,000 HP that you need to protect... along with defeat a bunch of Ninja & Bombarder Units in the meantime.  I got the item list from "Zhou Yun 006" in Official KOEI website forum. http://www.koei.com/community/index.php?topic=25.0 The only battle that I did NOT get Rank S is the "Final Assault of Okehazama." Man, that battle is insane, I got only Rank A for the best one. It gives you the "Nobleman's Hunting Armor" for Rank S on that battle, but I made up with buy it in Chapter 7 instead. Thanks for that info, I'll check my catalogue against that list by Zhao Yun 006 and see if I can find my missing 3 items.
And yeah, Scrolls & Troops don't count; iirc I am 2 armor pieces short and one helmet short of having absolutely everything. I have 100% completion in every area bar the items so far, it would end a search over a massive period of time if I could finally complete it.

I might go back and play Kessen III on Expert (I hope this is what it's called) difficulty as I already finished on Normal and Hard. But for now I want to play Warriors Orochi a little bit more. By the way do you get extra movies (not likely for extra battles as I already got 100%) for playing on expert like when you first play on hard? |

Nope, the extra videos are only for hard, which is a major reason for those that like the story and only played normal should continue on and play hard! You see some very fascinating additions to the story. Like the one with Kicho taking Oda's (near) lifeless body from Honnoji and running back to their castle with him. |

I thought there would be two more movies! Because I didn't get 100%! The extra movies are great and makes you understand the story even better. I like the one where he went to Spain and met with King Phillip II (I think) and the one when a girl (can't remember her name but I'm sure she the one that Money brought to Nubunaga) praying in front of Mitsuhide grave too. |

I need to beat hard mode to play chapter 13 and unlock all the movies. I love how you can go back and view every movie in Kessen III. This game's cutscenes are so good it is like a cartoon show if you put them all together. |

Sorry but is chapter 13 is a secret one or it is the last one cause i dont relly remember ????? what is it about and how to play it if it is a secret one . Also can we play with Kenshin , shingen ,tokugawaand date with any way ??????????? If not then it seemed that we need a hacker to hack the game and make it as we want ....lllllllol |

Chapter 13 is a secret chapter that you can only play on hard mode and above. You gotta play the game twice to get it and Tokugawa and Date ally with you in levels but you don't get them in your army. |
