Yeah, but he still runs pretty slow lol. Well, I know his attack speed is quicker than one would expect, but his movement is still what you would expect. |

Xiahou Yuan R1 move is good in WO. But his moveset is the opposite.....His musou is like same thing as Huang Zhong  .....He is better then some character in Wei (XU CHU  ) but you have to admit he is slow.......   His true musou, at the end is the only part which is different from Huang Zhong....But that doesn't mean anything since every characters true musou at the end is different..... |

Actually, his musou is quicker than Huang Zhong, as the old man likes to hop on one foot at the end, save for that, Xiahou Yuan is quicker, and his moves are more rounded to fit crowds, where Huang Zhong is made for one on one fights with officers. |

Ah..Yuan. I love him so much...his personality is great. He's loyal and strong and determined. He seems like a very good soul and as far as DW games are concerned, his disrespect to Huang Zhong was an isolated fault in character. One that he pays for dearly. I am not a fan of his moveset in DW4 and 5. I loved him in 3. His sword was great. Haven't used him in 6 yet however. |

Yeah, in DW3 his sword was one of the best weapons, apart from Cao Cao's 4th. |

he looked fat, and in dw6 hairy, he should been clean up as both his cousin caocao and xiahou dun is tall and thin and formal, his dw6 sword is great, jus involve some bow attack in it it would be wounderful, and rather than took bow off thin air, he could wear one on his back. |

Xiahou Yuan is my favorite Wei character hands down... alongside Xu Huang of course. He is just really good and something about him makes me really like him... I honestly dont know wat it is though. He has a bad moveset... A bad weapon... a bad everything but personality. However, he does look pretty kool. Even though hes a fat mess in DW6 he still looks kool. In my opinion he should be in more battles and cinematics and be much more important. Not only that but give him something kool for a weapon.... Maybe soemthing unique like every1 else in Wei. Maybe a really big bow with... blades at each end? Or if he slimmed down he could have something like 2 spears... or 2 Dao's like he has in dw6, but not as big. |

I love Xiahou Yuan, I don't think he gets the attention he deserves in Dynasty Warriors. Yeah sure, he gets good movesets and personality but it feels he is a bit.. forgotten in the main story? He is supposed to be the best Wei general, alongside Xu Huang and Zhang Liao :-\ |

Agreed. He was one of Cao Cao's most trusted and best generals in history and the novel and he is never potrayed as such. It seems that Dun gets the place that he should have. Hopefully in DW6:S this problem will be rectified in his musou mode. And hopefully he'll have a better weapon. Now I cant decide whether I want him to get the 5 ring dao or go back to his old club (hopefully much more menacing). |

He is cool and funny in all DW series. I like his look in DW5. In 6, he is more fat (what is he eating?) than his body in the previous DW. His belly is so hairy I like watching his cutscenes with Xiahou Dun. They are the coolest brothers

In all honesty, Xiahou Yuan is an amazing character. I don't know too much about him historically but I do know he was a loyal, strong, quick general. He is definately one of my top Wei's, Xu Huang being the best. Xiahou Yuan had a good design back in DW3, then it went worse, back to good, to hairy belly . But still, he is a very good warrior of Wei, want a story mode of him some time in the future .

Whats the matter with the hairy belly? Its not like every single character has to be a Fabio... But i agree, i really like the dude, he is quite funny, mostly with his interactions with Zhang He (His cutscene in Guan Du with him was priceless). He has such an awesome sword desing, quite sad to see him ditch it for a bow...but whatever Koei. |

Here I thought Koei finally was gonna give Xiahou Yuan (at least some of) the respect he deserves, but then they keep trying to make him Huang Zhong: the Hong Kong edition. |

Agreed. I never really liked this character until WO. I am actually really glad that he has bow. Now nearly everyone in Wei has a unique weapon, how cool is that. Huang Zhong killed Xiahou Yuan which makes him more powerful then him If only it was other way round huh... Seraphil - I think Koei made Xiahou Yuan, Huang Zhong rival because Xiahou Yuan is a boring character, they can't figure out what his story should be like. So I think they made him have a bow to suit Huang Zhong of Shu so then they can have this rivalry which will make his story much interesting. Don't you not think this is well. Xiahou Yuan is not a boring character. He's funny and a likable guy; the only reason his story sucks is because Koei is hard for Xiahou Dun, who they give HUGE amount of focus in comparison and effectively give him Yuan's role in Wei as their #1 officer. The only game series Yuan gets any real respect in is ROTK... |

KoW: I think that they could still have a rivalry without having to tack on a bow to Xiahou Yuan. I am pretty sure that rivalries arent determined by weapon, so I still dont know why Koei continue to try and do that, the sword that Yuan had in DW6 was pretty much perfect for him, personally...I think it suited him better than it suited Zhou Tai and Huang Zhong. Although Xiahou Yuan isnt among my favourite characters, I do like the rivalry that he has with Huang Zhong, if only they had their rivalry through their renowned triats, like Zhong's archery, and Yuan's lightning raids.

Sorry, I was meant to say that his story is boring. Also don't blame Xiahou Dun for Xiahou Yuan story being boring. Blame Koei. Xiahou Dun is one of my favourite character you see. I also like Xiahou Yuan rivalry with Huang Zhong, it makes his story much interesting. Edited by King Of Wei, Dec 23 2008, 12:28 PM.
