KOEI, recognized worldwide as the premier brand of strategy and action games, today announced Nobunaga’s Ambition®: Rise to Power, an epic historical simulation from legendary game producer Kou Shibusawa. The game is scheduled to ship to North American retailers beginning February 5, 2008, exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system.

“The Nobunaga’s Ambition series defined the simulation genre when it first debuted in 1983. The engrossing gameplay in many ways set the standard by which all other console simulation games would be measured,” said Amos Ip, Senior Vice President at KOEI Corporation. “The franchise continues to be enjoyed around the world and has garnered numerous awards. Now, with Nobunaga’s Ambition: Rise to Power the engrossing strategy and simulation elements are presented in a rich 3D environment. KOEI is excited to reintroduce the Nobunaga’s Ambition series to veteran players and to a new generation of fans.”

About Nobunaga’s Ambition: Rise to Power
Set during the 16th century, Nobunaga’s Ambition: Rise to Power sends players back in time to the Sengoku (Warring States) period of Feudal Japan. It was during this time that the visionary Nobunaga Oda assembled the most advanced military force in Japan, and instituted new policies that stimulated the growth of the nation’s economy.

In Nobunaga’s Ambition: Rise to Power, players will assume the role of Nobunaga, or of a rival warlord, in their quest to unite Japan under one rule. Packed with 7 dramatic scenarios - from the 1551 Struggle for Power to the events following Nobunaga’s death in 1582, Nobunaga’s Ambition: Rise to Power lets players embark on their quest from more than 300 different starting points.

For the first time in the series, military campaigns are carried out using an explosive 3D real-time battle system. Plus a new command lets players go “all in” and risk their entire empire in battle. If victorious, players will expand their empire, but a defeat could mean the total loss of their land.

Nobunaga’s Ambition: Rise to Power is more than just a game of military domination. Life in Feudal Japan is brought to life with remarkable detail. In vibrant castle towns the daily lives of characters will unfold while players nurture their village into a flourishing empire. Players will also manage government affairs and develop critical infrastructure such as ninja camps, blacksmiths, and markets. A robust character edit function features a wide variety of character faces, the ability to edit stats, and let’s the player choose when and where the characters will appear.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If there is one thing that I have learned it is that people often lack understanding. Instead of admitting this fault they wish to vehemently defend their ever growing precarious position and lastly attempt to make themselves into the victim. Ignorance is a plague to all people of the world and none are exempt, the only thing making the so called "intelligent" people intelligent is the work they put forth in investing their attentions to more worthy goals. There is nothing wrong or right with the world we live in, because there is no right or wrong. All are abstract ideas formed separately or in cooperation around the world to define the grounds for society, in the end none of it really matters.

About freakin time! I've wanted another NA game for years. Nice to see that they're finally bringing this back to us.

Hmm, what NA was Rise to Power, again? 11? 12?

I'm not getting excited till I hear PAL!

Though the likelihood of that happening is unfortunately low.

Nevermind, figured out that this is NA 11: Tenkasousei. It has gameplay in realtime and is very deep in strategy, both in war and in politics. It is supposedly a very hard game to master, in that allies occasionally betray you for personaly gain and battles require some good strategies to win.

Can't wait!

That was completely awesome. :o Too bad there's only two of em in the game.(I assume the other one is Sekigahara).

Hmm, did I read the part about being able to edit officers correctly? Does this mean editing the actual officers in the game or creating your own? Worded kind of mysteriously.

True, they still keep doing that. XD

I'll watch that event video...when I can. Can't right now, YouTube is barred where I am right now. :P

I didn't even notice that. Lets hope it's just an error on the part of the employee who wrote that. If not, well, I've kind of gotten used to it in North American releases, and it doesn't affect the gameplay, so it's not too big of a deal.

EDIT: Here's the address for the Japanese edition of the game if you want an idea of how the game is played: http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/tenka/ps2/element/index.htm

It IS an important thing, Unlike SW, this is a more historical game.

But just in case it's true... well... I think I will still get the game... to set up edit officer names like Bei Liu and Bu Lu. Heh *evil laugh*

True, but still, I've unfortunately come to expect it from NA producers, so I'm not surprised. Still, the game looks completely awesome. It has really good graphics, considering it came out in 2003.(It looks almost as good as RoTK 11). Also, the map of Japan is split up into many territories.(50+) The gameplay resembles RoTK 10, except in realtime and more dependent on strategy.

EDIT: A bit of info gathetred from the site. There are over 1000 regular officers and you have the ability to create 100 more. There are also four difficulties: Introduction, Begginner, Advanced, and Super!(Reminds self to try out super...)

Also, many areas that were ignored in SW2: Empires gain territories now, especially Kyushu. Shikoku still only has 6, but that's enough for a base for my inevitable Chousokabe domination!

As I mentioned in the identical thread LDZ made, I've creamed myself over this news!

I was double-checking the list of officers in recent NA games, and they've got guys like the samurai who personally killed Yoshimoto at Okehazama(who ironically is named Mouri...), and also my Naito ancestors under Ouchi/Mouri clans! ^_^

I'm a little ignorant about Nobunaga's Ambition series. I'm assuming it's like the RotK series, but in Sengoku times?

If so, I'll be throwing heavy objects if it's not in PAL.

If it will be anything like Romance of the three kingdoms, that's interesting enough for me. Saw a few images the game looks pretty fun. Just hope that they will have as much as characters like Rotk series.

In otherwords, there will be nothing like Kessen again it seems. :(

I just hope that unlike a majority of RTK games they decide to give us a EU (PAL) release!

Hope so! But judge by the number of ROTK games released in PAL regions, the chance of not reaching NZ and Aussie is pretty high :(

...Do you know ANYTHING about Sengoku-era Japan? No, no you don't.

Nobunaga is the key, central daimyo of the era, and the games revolve around his ambition to claim the land(this was quite evident in the older NAs, like how they had options to play only in central Japan where Nobunaga carved out his territory.) There is NO "three clans" foolishness, at least not in the way you're trying to suggest.

---

By the way guys, the battles themselves are in real-time strategy, so you may get something similar to Kessen out of it.

Well there is the 'Three Unifiers' concept. But that works way differently than the 'Three Kingdoms'. Get it right, those who keep hidden in the Sangoku fandom and think every Koei game, Sengoku or Gundam, needs to follow the suit.
