So far I'm not having much fun/luck with the Cavalry or Arrow units.
Absouletly dominating with the Spears and Swords groups though. B) How about anybody else? Any tips on how I can enjoy the Cavalry and bow units more? |

man, I HATE cavalry too >( I don't like any of their attacks and just being around them is irritating. I only use them as recruits in emergencies! I can't stand using them; the gauge takes too long to reload, they never seem to do any damage, they can never keep up with me... bleh. Bows... haha, I love longbows. If you have a unit and can see on your map that there's some cavalry coming your way, you can make a relatively quick and easy kill. It's particularly good when there's an officer commanding them, so you can get more points The only annoying thing about bows, I find, is that allies can easily swoop in and pinch your kills Having said that, if they do all the work, and you time "Pinpoint" well enough, you can easily pinch their's too
I think my favourites are heavy clubs and polearms. Big, swooshy wins XD I just hate cavalry so much and find that those two groups can seriously pwn those nasties. |

I'm getting better with the Bows but the Cavalry are only good for getting across the map in a hurry in my opinion. I personally like the Javelin heaving over the bows but that may be because I used to do the event in track. B) |

Javelin can be more effective than bows, yeah, but it also depends what kind of troops you're fighting against. Sometimes it's better to keep your distance with bows, but other times you can use the javelin before really going in for the kill. I only find those kind of spears useful against weaker enemies and won't ever risk going against someone even slightly higher the way I will with clubs or polearms. Bows can send the enemy insane if you're at a good distance, which means you can keep them at bay while your really really really slow allies catch up >> |

Spear Infantry's Javelin, I have found are quite effective against those you are red against. If you are in the right position, you can take down calvary with that also. Not enough calvary killers either way... I personally prefer Spear, Mace and Halberd. I generally use the 3 as my mercs. Every unit has their uses at certain times. I try to pick up some random group before resorting to my mercs... Who hasn't had some particular mishaps as calvary? Like the spear wall.... or archers... |

Exactly....I mean I'm on a horse with a Lance riding/charging into a group of foot soldiers and stop dead in my tracks I do'nt know I personally think I should be able to go through them like a knife through butter but get stuck midway through...does'nt make sense to me myself but hey whatever...next game maybe they will fix it.

No doubt javelin is effective against almost any enemy, however, those troops are pretty useless at close range against most foes. I usually only use spear troops' javelin first against equal or weaker enemies and then close in to take them out as long as there aren't more than 2 units nearby. Same with knives & axes throwing attacks. Cavalry gets stuck amongst foot soldiers with long weapons (polearms etc) because they're weak against them. It's very hard for horses to get through that kind of crap, so yeah you'll get wedged inside...which is why - I guess - they used those kind of weapons against cavalry attack You'll also get stuck if you charge right through certain 3+ units (3+ units of knives will probably be no problem because they're pretty weak!). Nothing particularly strange or unusual about that, I don't think. If they got wedged in the centre of one archer unit, that'd be odd... |

My fav squads by far is the Magician. They are so 1337 for taking down cavalry. I remember one mission when Joan and Giles were holed up in base and I spawned 3 Magician squads and pwned them...hahaha. I also luv the dual wielding sword and knife throwing ninjas. My worst squad is probably the long spear and horse bow since I never took time to level them. Actually I think the horse bow could be really powerful. |

I'm surprised at the ammount of people hating on cavalry. I have mine leveled up to 30, and I pretty much own everything with them. I have my Royal Lancers, and can charge straight into a spear wall and come out unharmed. The other unit I like is greatswords. Particularly the Landsknechts. The only other unit that I've used that hasn't gotten decimated would be heavy spearmen. But I don't like them because they're so slow. |

A lot of people accidently charge into long pikes... I should check if my tv has hdtv or not.... But yea, I've recently played calvary a bit more... and they have their uses. Lancer and Halberd types are the best of the 4. Elephants are quite dangerous. Never got into camels though. It seems tedius to finish things off with calvary. If they survive, I have the urge to just dismount and give em a good smacking. I am in essence an infantry commander... Then the calvary gets themselves killed or 'runs away'. |

My favorite unit is calvary lancer. It is the best unit in any situation, and has mobility as well. The only disadvantage is when you up against spear unit, however, if you are an expert commander, there is an easy way to over come this. The trick is don't charge right into it but go behind them, if you master this, then the calvary will be pretty good. I heard that the gun unit can own the calvary though, but since I'm playing on French side so I dont have to worry much about that particular unit. |

I purposely charge into long pikes, and come out unharmed. Though the only units I use for that are Royal Lancers and Armoured Knights. I wouldn't dare try it with sword horsemen or spear horsemen. Also how many of you have your troop skills mastered? I have all of the skills of the lancers and halberd horsemen mastered, as well as greatswords. Then I have the regular stats mastered for horses and swords. |

My best unit is the Royal Lancers which are at Lvl 40. My worst is pikes. To use calvary you have to use hit and run tactics. What I do is strike on the flanks of units such as pikes which are strong against calvary. That way they can't use their pikes at all! Also don't get bogged down in melee because that is the units weekness, use your secondary skill (accelerate or ride by slash) to get free. |

Keep the tips/strategies for the various troops coming...especially the cavalry
Still not "Feelin the love" for them. Feels like I mostly ride around in circles with them with an occasional charge now and then. Oh well with time they may grow on me....hopefuly along with the bows only ones I do good with are the crossbows <_< |

New love for horsebows! Wowwwwwwwww max that out and it's fantastic, I love it so much
Killed Edward and Chandos off with those alone!Don't mind using the stronger cavalry units (knights etc) but I can never finish off units with them. I manage to take off chunks of an officer's life or a load of soldiers but never can actually finish them. I can't use pikes at all ... for anything. I can't time the thrusts well enough. |
