As you can see in the map above, there is another playable fief in southern Hokkaido, the island north of where the Date are located.

Oda Nobunaga will start out with only 7 officers in the 1551 scenario, they are: Oda Nobuyuki, Oda Nobumitsu, Shibata Katsuie, Hayashi Hidesada, Ikeda Tsuneoki, Sakuma Nobumori, and Hirate Masahide.

This game has a new way of rating each daimyo from all over Japan, the ratings are gone by the quality toward the public, governing, how big your domain is etc. It will rate the daimyo, the subordinates, and the fief itself. These ratings can be viewed in the "Internal Affairs" and "Diplomacy Negotiation" commands. There are also Imperial Court negotiations, where you can send your messenger to negotiate with other daimyo. However, this command cannot be executed multiple times, but you still have a chance of increasing friendship and strengthening alliances. It is also possible to perform a joint attack now, so you can team up with one of your allies and crush your enemy's fief.

A "Spy" command is included in this game, you can send your ninja to investigate other fiefs, but beware, if they catch your spy, they will be able to identify you and it will be considered an act of war!

Before going to battle, there are field operations to be carried out, so you don't just rush to battle without a plan. This is also essential when in siege battles, as the enemy will sometimes prove to be a challenge, and it will be difficult to surround powerful castles. After occupying enemy strongholds, allied morale will start increasing and it will be much easier to send out powerful attacks and tactics.

An officers' special skill can greatly effect battle when used well, each officer has his own unique special ability, this also applies to regular skills. Like SW2, an officer can learn a variety of skills from facing different enemy officers.

Like ROTK, terrain and weather is sometimes a disadvantage and sometimes can be an advantage, but this time, using the proper units is very important, some of them can withstand harsh weather.

There are different categories of battle in Nobunaga's Ambition: Rise to Power, special battles, like Kessen III, will become available once the scenario reaches its important points, these battles are called "Decisive Battles". Be careful, if you fail to claim victory, the enemy can conquer more than one province under your control at once.

Scenarios:

1551: Warring States
1560 Clash at Okehazama
1570 Anti-Nobunaga Coalition
1582: Honnoji Disturbance

Plus three other special scenarios included in the English version.

Other:
In character creation, you can choose your character's closest friend, nemesis, and religious affiliation. Choose three Special Abilities for your character as opposed to ROTK 11's one, Religious affiliations include Shinto, Ikko-Shu, and Christian.
