combination of xtreme legend n empires is good idea!that interests me!i found battles in dw5 empires is not exciting n boring.worse if play in one battle for long time.anyway i never play XL (poor me...) ... |

I'd say empires becuse 1.I love empire mode 2.You can play as generics 3.Music selection for battles.

Why does everyone claim playing as Generics as exciting?  I think I did it once solely for laughs... and it turned out to be kinda... GENERIC!  I think it'd be sweet if you could take the generic officer into Edit Mode and then customize them into something... less generic. Then the new model can replace the old generic one in the battles they fight in. |

well i like both but xtreme legends may be better because it will have new battles and stories because empires have the same battles as before so xtreme legends is better |

I personally love both, but I think I had more fun with the Xtreme Legends additions. 8D Ahaha, the character customization was pretty fun in XL. <3

I love the Risk-like nature of Empires and the actual conquering of things (as well as playing multiple guys). I prefer Xtreme mainly because of the single missions for characters in DW4. Having a little level more linked to the storyline of each specific character (Xiahou Dun, especially) was awesome. It made me want to find out more about the actual R3K. |

i would lean more toward extreme legends...i liked empires but too much strategy and micro managing to keep your territory yours. with extreme you get the extra few musou modes and the just straight up hack and slash |

I think im gonna have to go for XL simple because you get more of a personal experience and a sense of a journey that all the characters went through. I like Empires as well because it also involves a bit of strategy which gets you more involved. |

I'd pick Empires because: + The base system (to make hellrushing to the enemy commander not as easy as regular games due to territory buff/debuffs) + Being able to command ally generals + More replay value since the game is more non-linear Don't get me wrong, XL expansions are great too but seriously, after maybe a month or two of playing to unlock the new stuff, there's just absolutely nothing left to do. |

I'm pretty sure they're the same. I have to go for Empires on this one. As much as I love doing the Xtreme mode in XL, the CAW option really makes the games more interesting for Empires. |

Must be my poor eyesight. XD I dunno, I always thought Empires & WO looked less clearer and less detailed than the main titles... than again, maybe when I go back to play expansions I just forget how average the graphics look. *shrugs* |

I'd have to go for Empires, even though I voted for Xtreme Legends by accident. Reason why? Simply because everything isn't the same, in DW5, after completing everyone's Musou Mode nothing is left to do. You're left bored, you want to play more but the only way you can play more is by buying the next expansion. I have DW5, DW5 E, DW5 XL, SW, SWXL, SW2 E. What I have found is that the XL games are fun while it lasts, the small things make the gameplay a tad better while Empire gives you long lasting fun and different scenarios. Although, it does get boring too. Empires has the kind of freedom, to do what you want. You don't have to follow history, this makes it better for me. The gameplay isn't repetitive because of the wide range of tactics, formations and Generals and Lt's to recruit. I actually have started to hate XL games because they urge you to buy the original game. This abruptly stopped me from buying Samurai Warriors 2 and Samurai Warriors 2 XL at their top prices. Hence I got Empires first. Koei are trying their hardest to milk money from one series of the DW and SW franchise, which is really unfair to the fans. If only they forged XL and Empires together, that would be for the greater good. But I think after Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires, we won't have that problem of boredom. To play as an Officer or Ruler, decisions Koei never let us have ~ |

Mostly what Kryoslasher said, XL is good for extra story but once you done everything theres nothing else to do. Empires can be played over and over and it's kind of fun being Generics.

I loved the idea of being a soldier for an officer of your choice in Dynasty Warriors 5 Xtreme Legends. In Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires they are adding a different mode. You can play as the leader or one of his officers. I like the idea of this and it's the closest we'll get to an Xtreme Legends game. I prefer Empires over XL. |

R U SEEREE-US? One-liners are spam. Next time, contribute more to your post please.  Example: What you like about both games that makes them equals in your eyes. As for me, still keeping the same opinion about Empires. Though I have only played DW4 Empires... didn't even try SW2:Empires. I think it's best to play the expansions at a minimum (like every other generation of DW/SW games instead of playing them with each installment). Keeps things fresh. Because I haven't played DW5:E or SW2:E, I actually may consider picking up DW6:E for nostalgia purposes. And if it's relatively cheap.

sorry i was in a rush, anyway , empires is good becouse the character creation and you can play as every officer in the series. The latest empires game out i think is sw2 empires i play on it now and i dont mind the graphics.When i bought dw4 empires after sw2 empires i was not to happy becouse it had no moveable camera and theya ll looked a bit stiff i did not play it ever again. Xtreme Legends is good becouse it has more modes like xtreme mode, edit mode and dynasty mode..... Plus the character list expands with a wide range of different characters and unique weapons. |
