is and always will be empires.

i enjoyed and still ruthlessly play many of the original rot3k games, and of course combining them with the DW series made me very happy. after the release of DW6:E was announced, i went straight to gamestop and preordered it.

i'm also happy with many of the improvements they've made to the empires series in 6, and the screen shots i've seen of it look outstanding.

I really like both but in general I tend to lean towards Empires. I liked the more strategic side of it.

I choose Empires. Xtreme Legends is such an expansion, which even't would'nt be. Those new weapons (in some XL), new features, new modes can be put into the original game. And Empires seems like separate game - it's a strategy and that's why it's different from the original game, it's like a breath of fresh air in the series

Come on man! Who would you even think of getting rid of Empires or Xtreme Legends? I would fuse both together if I could.

Nothing beats a Good Empires game. To date the best of them has been DW5E. DW6E was a real letdown.

Can you really compare the two???

While XL is a expansion. Empires is a stand alone game. I really think you shouldn't compare them.

Actually, DW6E did something the other two Empire series didn't do...allow for an Officer mode that basically is Xtreme mode in Xtreme Legends.

I think XL has that awesome mode called mercenary mode XD but being able to make your own character in Empires mode is just too awesome XD!

I'm gonna go with Empires.

Xtreme Legends for Samurai Warriors has always delivered compared to Dynasty, but it really is content that does not deserve another disc. New challange modes? I'm really excited to buy a new disc for those. New stages? So excited. New weapons and Xtreme Mode? So excited! New items and the chance to make a "new" warrior? So excited!

Well, don't get me wrong, I like what the XL's bring to the table (Minus the CAW but that's another issue) but they're not exactly deserving of 30 more bucks. I've kept up with all of them since DW3 but just because it's a necessary evil. I want the full game, to do so I must have XL... The new characters in Samurai's XL's are good and welcome to have. DW3XL's Very Hard mode entertains me to this day. DW5XL's change to heavy weapons was good and some of its new items really helped out. Samurai Warriors 1's XL made it so much more playable by removing the limits. But really, needing to disc swap every time to have the full game, regardless of how easy it is to do, is just foolish. There's such a thing as packing it all on one disc, loading just the one disc...

Empires is easily its own gamestyle, what with making your own army filled with any officers you want, conquering all of the country and basically playing a faster and more action-filled version of ROTK/NA. You can do almost whatever the hell you want in it, and for that I'll gladly buy it. And for the times where playing all the preset scenarios and stages doesn't cut it because maybe on that day I feel I've played Chi Bi or Sekigahara enough times, Empires' variety is there to help me out.

Empires, XL is just an expansion, while Empires is a whole new game!

I just wish Koei would stop being such money-hungry bastards and just put all the XL features into the regular game :)

What!? SW2: Empires was much better than any of the DW: Empires games!

You think so  . I found SW2: Emp got boring quite quickly, and you didn't have much control over your ending  . Like, even though you had like tournaments and stuff, they just weren't engaging enough for me. Also, I hated how the battles just went rediculous with the formations and stuff, how one minute all you characters would be getting throttled through the enemy suddenly switching to attack. I just found the mercenary mode with SW2XL really engaging compared to any DW mercenary mode, along with adding new characters. However, the music was very nice in SW2Emp.

This is too difficult, maybe Empires because it is a totally different game while XL is just an expansion. But on the other hand XL usually offers lots of cool new stuff (like new characters in SW), so it's kinda hard to choose, but I'm gonna go with Empires, after all. :ph43r:

Perhaps a mix of 'em....Something like....Extreme empires... :P
Same here.

But if I had to pick only one I'd pick Extreme Legends cause of Extreme mode or something like that I can't remember.

In general, so not counting any removals of certain weapons not appearing in specific games; Which would you choose? So tell us which expansion you would pick if there were to be only one of each left in this entire world! And the choice was yours knowing that you've played either one before.

Personally, I would pick Xtreme Legends because I'm more into getting the new items and the latest weapons for my characters. Plus, it having and going in closer with more depth to the known stories by adding smaller battles, etc. Thats the main reason and not because of just the Xtreme Mode, etc. I just tend to be a bit more interested in the Xtreme Legends expansions, as the Empires games get a bit older for me much more swiftly.
Don't you think that Special should be added in the poll ?

Special is not an expansion. It's a port. So basically Special is just the original with extra content released on a different console(s). And this thread is about which expansion you prefer.

I personally believe that they should keep Empires, because Xtreme Legends should already be a part of the original games. I think that it tends to have portions of the game that are incredibly necessary, and they add depth. It gets Koei money to release both, but it would get them more money to make the game better as soon as it heads out the game release gate! Empires deserves to still be a separate piece of work due to what it adds to the game; something completely different.

I'd prefer a mixture of both. However if I had to pick one, I'd go for XL the reason being that Empires gets monotonous for me sometimes.
