Its amazing how they managed to retain most of, if not all the voices that they had in DW5 Empires, with only a few missing. Some of the changes I welcome, others I kinda of give an odd look to. For example- they changed the voice of Lu Xun and Jiang Wei.. yet their VAs are there in the form of Sima Yi and Sun Quan. Odd, and unwelcome changes in Lu Xun's case since the voice fit him perfectly. Jiang Wei's change was a nice addition though.

My guess is that they really tried to expand the voices a lot and make them more different so everyone wouldn't seem the same. Thats probably why none of the Samurai Warriors characters retain the voices they had in SW1. A little disappointing if you ask me, but some of the voices are good. I like the interpretation of Nouhime better than SW2's and most other voices are on par with the SW2 voice cast. (Keep in mind though I liked SW2's voices a lot. >_>)

But a lot of the voices in the game sound.. off. Like the enemy peons for instance.. it's like they make no sounds at all when you kill them.. I much prefer the screams and groans and yelps that they had in previous SW titles to the barely inaudible 'Ow' and 'Oh' that you hear in this game. Come on.. are you really going to be like 'Ow.' when you get a spear shafted up your ass? NO! You're going to freakin scream in pain!!

As a whole, its hard to hear any of the cries the officers/peons make when you hit them. Perhaps they should've turned the volume of that up a bit like it was in DW4.

But I digress.. I believe DW4 had the best voice cast out of any game in the series, so I come from that perspective. The voices of Warriors Orochi from the DW-side are impressive.. from the SW side not so much. Orochi and Da Ji have excellent voices however, especially on Da Ji's part. (I think it fits her perfectly in fact, despite what others say. o_o)

All-in-all, I like it. I only wish I could see a return of the DW4 voice cast in its entirety- THAT.. would be the ultimate fanservice right there. xD

I didn't like Sun Jian's new voice, it sounds as if he has a sore throat, Steven Blum did a much better job at his voice as it captures his attitude in the games. Same with Zhou Yu, though I prefer his Dw4 voice over his 5th one, his voice in WO is very... "stale" I suppose and just sounds plain boring.

Another who I think shouldn't have changed was Wei Yan's, I liked his voice in DW5 but now he's just plain annoying to hear, moreso than Zhang Jiao (which for some reason doesn't sound as bad, perhaps it grew a bit on me).

Jiang Wei's new voice isn't good either, again I prefer his Dw5 voice I just find the way he says "we shall meet again" annoying.

Lastly Orochi's and Da Ji's voice are very well done, Orochi has the calm and echoey voice which suits him, while Da Ji gives you the impression she's going to be a pain, overall I'm pleased with the VA cast just a few could've used a bit more changes.

If you think about it, most of the popular voice actors like Steve Blum and Crispin Freeman have other roles in anime shows and games to provide voices for that they don't have the time to provide the voice for these characters. Perfect example is Joshua Seth aka Jiang Wei's voice. He is also a comedy hypnotist and magician where is probably constantly on the road. So I guess you really can't blame KOEI for some of the bad voice acting but they could've done better.

True but I don't really let the voices get to me, though I just don't like how Sun Jian says "momentum" whenever you kill a officer, he says it like "keep up that moment....um"

Kind of slow but hey that's just me.

Same here. I am to the point were they don't bother me anymore including Hideyoshi's and Sun Jian's. I actually kinda like them now. I know what you mean about the momentum deal too. They should've fixed that or had him say something different. The only voice I still hate is Wei Yan's lol. >_>

I DISAGREE!

I loved Zhu Rong's voice in DW4, dunno who the actors are but if you're insinuating that her DW5 voice is better... I have to object. Zhu Rong's voice in DW4 is what got me to even try playing as her in the first place! I especially loved the way she said 'That'll Learn ya!' Her DW5 voice sounds too much like a creepy old fortune-telling lady.

Yeah Da Ji and Orochi are great(dunno who voices Orochi though) but when ever its Jennifer Sekiguchi/Stephanie Sheh you can bet she'll do a good job and she really does shine as Da Ji IMO.

*pokes you both in the eyes!*

DW5 Zhou Yu owns DW4 Zhou Yu! In 4, his voice was far too high pitched for my tastes, 5's is just perfect, and I'm not biased at all! Honest!!! Same for the old Jiang Wei's voice. I liked the old one from 5 better than this that they have in Orochi.

And... and its not at all just because I loves Xenosaga to pieces and those two voices are outta that game! Noes! Not one bit because Jiang Wei = chaos and Zhou Yu = Jin.

:o Honest!!!

:wub: I hope to see both of them return for DW6, personally. ^^;

Zhou Yu's mystery guy (doesn't anyone know who it is?) in Orochi gets it right 3/5 times. I like the way he says "we'll smoke them out... and burn them to the ground." in that stage on Shu where you gotta save him and Sun Ce. When he stays in his lower range, that odd... what is it? Accent or something...? It doesn't show as bad. And his "s"s get on my nerves for some reason or another.

I've got to say that I just love these quotes:

Cao Pi, Wei Chapter 1 to Zhang Jiao,

''Get out of my way you relic!'' Lol that was a good one. ^_^

Cao Pi to Zhang He, Wei Gaiden 2,

''Things change. Move with the times.'' Very quick witted.

Nene, Wei Gaiden 3 after Goemon escapes,

''I know exactly who's responsible for this!'' ''And I'm going to make him pay!'' Extremely good voice acting. I love it.

I also love it when at Yi Ling he says something along the lines of..

"The enemy has a plan. Stop it."

No long-winded speeches, no shocking revelations.. just... the enemy is doing something.. now go stop it. xD

Gotta love his bluntness at times. ALSO!

O_O YOU MUST BE CRAAAZY!! Unless you're talking about his DW5 voice and not his voice in DW5XL-Empires. Because that voice actor is the same. xD I definitely can't agree with you if thats not the case simply because I played Zhou Yu in the first place because his voice was cool. In XL and Empires I didn't give him the time of day because his voice was just so.. BORING. I hate it how some VAs can be so picky. >>

As for Jiang Wei.. ...I'd say his DW4 voice was the best. In 5 he sounded like a Loony Toons character.. and in WO he sounds pretty normal again. =P

Yeah talking about DW5 Zhou Yu, IE: Michael Gough. Not the XL (mystery) guy that's in Orochi now. I want that Zhou Yu back!

Probably not picky persay, but thusfar, Michael Gough has only done voices for main titles (DW4, DW5, SW) and never their XL additions or Empires. I understand sometimes they have other projects to do but still. T_T

I like the way they change Xing Cai's voice and personality, that really suit her, better than talking without emotion!!!
Cao Pi's is ok but was his personality change as well, I felt like as if he really care everyone... creepy of him...
I do miss zhou Yu, Hideyoshi, Ranmaru and Nobunaga's old voice, I think their new voice some how irritate me...
Yeah, some of the warriro did hav improvement, I like it, but of course there are some of them not really interest me that much

Oh noes! Nested reply of dooom!! :o

Jiang Wei: In DW5 that is chaos. I dunno about 4. I haven't played it in so long! But 5 is definitely chaos from Xenosaga. Doesn't sound like bugs bunny at all to me? Sounds like chaos. Hahaha. And when I'm playing Xenosaga and chaos does a super move or something, I think to myself "Let them have it, Jiang Wei!" I am so used to that voice for Jiang Wei that the one in Orochi just sounds...odd.

In regards to MG. I dunno what happened. Well! Maybe he will write back to my email that I sent and then I can ask. *is hopeful* I dunno why he would be picky! If you look at the huge list of stuff he's done, he seems far from picky since the things he's voiced ranges from commercials to disney stuff. I think the issue might have been on Koei's side personally, since they are notorious for changing VA's on a whim it seems. Maybe the new mystery Zhou Yu cost less. Especially since this new guy doesn't seem to wanna be mentioned anywhere, whoever he is! In that case though, you get what you pay for. Although... he is better in Orochi than he was in 5XL and 5Empires, I must say.

Still not Michael Gough though. :( And I don't think the mystery Zhou Yu fits the new looking Zhou Yu from DW6 either.

But that's for another topic :3

I'm never speaking to Jessica Gee again. She obviously hates me. She sent me an email that went something like this...

Erica,

We were happy to talk to you a few times but we are now asking that you absolutely refrain from calling our home. It is not appropriate. In fact, it is a turn-off. You are the first “fan” to do this and it is just not cool. You have really run the course with us and we are asking that you just stop and let this rest.

Thanks. Jessica and Grant

"Run the course"? Exactly how did I "run the course" Jessica?
"Fan?" Why not just fan? Does she think I'm a stalker or something?

I am very upset, I just sent her an ecard, however I don't think she will want it.
