Perhaps make them an additional bonus for finishing a characters story mode for example. Although if it happens, they had better not use the horrid color schemes etc witnessed in Warriors Orochi. Playing two players on that was quite annoying at times with how different the 'alt costumes' were...

The costumes were unique to every character not just a simple pallet swap. Maybe make them "optional", ie you can switch between 1st and 2nd

Nobody I don't think likes palette swaps, they lack inspiration. The SW1 costumes were great, like Nobunaga's, Yukimura's and others. Though Keiji with no hair, lol that made me laugh. But yes, even the slightest change can make a difference (Zhao Yun's hair tied in DW4 costume 3/4), but even so the more diversity the better. As to only have 4-5 palette swaps, is just dull and almost lifeless. Has anyone else noticed Koei's fascination with the color gold?

I have no problem with it, though it may seem just a tad bit repetitive. For example, the 4th weapons in SW2, many of the costumes and such. Meh... it's alright for me but I did just notice that too!

Han's Unifier Posts: 1,131 Group: Banned Member #9,993 Joined: September 28, 2007	I think it would be nice if you could get new costumes the same way as getting 4th/5th weapons (not literally, i mean that you would have to do specific things on hard or above difficulty to obtain them, at least that would increase the collection quota for the game and keep it challenging, and no its not hard to script that, its basically just entering a few lines of actions that trigger a single reaction being the costume unlocking in this) SW3 definatly should have both 4th weapons and 2nd costumes (not colors) No wonder SW1 is still the best sw game in terms of atmosphere and feel.

Scottish Samurai Posts: 716 Group: Members Member #12,998 Joined: January 31, 2008	I picked No. Id rather KOEI spend the time on something more worthwhile as a second costume wont make any fundamental difference, it wont even add replay value that an extra map or character would. I remember the second costumes on SW1 and hated them - Keiji was bald, Goemon was a prancing jester and Oichi...poor little Oichi became something out of the teddy bears picnic ryhm :angry: I simply dont see why anyone would want alternate costumes as the only benefit would be surely tell you and your co-op partner apart easier but as you can only get 2 players anyway your never gonna get each other mixed up anyway are you.

Posts: 2,736 Group: Members Member #4,229 Joined: November 17, 2006	i don't mind the second costumes, as long as that feature does not take away from the actual game, in terms of: extra costumes means that other content(maps, characters, STORY) is left out. some of the SW1 2nd's were classic (Kunoichi, Yukimura, Ina, Yoshimoto, Hideyoshi) and some were horrifying (Masamune, Goemon, Okuni).

I choose one that I think fits the character/stage better or just the one I like. I also like having to unlock them. It makes it better because it makes it feel more meaningful. Not like its just there. I actually think there should be 5 costumes. Normal, Color Change, SW1, SW2, Different Costume And if the character debuted in SW2 then just switch SW1 with another new costume and if SW3 then just do that for both SW1 and 2.

While some of the pallete swaps were interesting, completely different and interesting outfits was one of the main appeals of the game IMO.
