INTRODUCTION
Welcome to my Dynasty Warriors 6 review fellow Koei warriors! Before Dynasty Warriors 6 actually releases in the United States, I have the exploited chance of playing it via imports (like many others). I heavily enjoy this series and own DW3XL, 4, 4XL, 4E, 5, 5XL, 5E, 6(J), O, SW2, 2E, and WO. It's an overly cluttered collection that I have played thoroughly. I grade on a weighted scale, meaning certain criteria are worth more to the overall score. If you are wondering, Bias is simply bonus points or negative points that aren't calculated in the total. Think of them like extra credit. So here we go!

SCORE
Gameplay: 13/15
Graphics: 8/10
Story: 7/10
Value: 6/10
Sound: 3/5
Bias: +1
Overall: 38/50 C
Pros: firm hack-n-slash, unique movesets, large and expansive maps, detailed and stylized characters, relatively more in-depth stories
Cons: significantly less Charge attacks, clone movesets, pop-up backgrounds and textures, lack of more Musous

ANALYSIS
Gameplay 13/15
- For Musou games, this is definitely the best part of the games, and this game fairs no worse. It has changed from the previous series, however, replacing Charge attacks with a Strong Charge and a T-String and making the S-String infinite.
- With the reduction of Charge attacks, the variety definitely drops but the uniqueness of the weapons more than make up for this flaw. The characters of the game are visually more fluent with their weapons and attacks streaming and flowing much better than previous Musou games.
- It seems that Koei has also included a slew of special functions in the game. Things such as swimming add mobility and depth to the maps, making maps like Fan Castle much more interesting with the flood. There is also "height" in this game, meaning terrain height levels, which expand and complicate mobility furthermore. This means there are actually mountains in the battle of Mt. Ding Jun instead of large hills!
- The biggest disappointment in the Gameplay section is the clones. For characters without a Musou, with the exception of Xiao Qiao, their movesets are simply copies of each other and some from the Musou (Yue Ying and Zhen Ji). Yes, that virtually means Ma Chao is crap and poo again like he was in WO.
Graphics 8/10
- So, now that we know it's fun, how does the eye-candy hold up? Quite well, I must say. First things first, however, this is not your Crysis; don't expect it to be but expect it to be loads better because it is. The graphics are your typical Dynasty Warriors graphics with superb detail and lighting. There aren't many jags and have definitely come a long way from DW5. Granted, DWO has better graphics.
- The maps are large and expansive and have greater draw distance. You see much more of the field than before and much clearer too. The movesets all flow much better than before and actually "feels" better too. Granted, there are a few hiccups to overcome.
- One disappointment here is the occasional slowdown caused by excess NPCs on screen, which is natural for a DW game. However, even though enemies come in larger packs, the packs typically pop-up on screen along with trees, houses, etc. Grass, interestingly enough, disappears as you approach it.
Story 7/10
- What's DW without a story, you say. Well, it would just be DW. However, Koei didn't overlook this area too badly this time around. For the characters that do have Musous, you can expect cutscenes in between stages, inclined dialogue, and greater depth in the character's story.
- However, this still does not take away the lackluster efforts to create Musous and movesets for the rest of the crew. It makes those characters, in contrast, significantly less importantly and useless. You'll find yourself playing as a Musou mode character more often than not. This virtually cuts playtime from 30-40 Musous to effectively just 13-15 Musous. Not to mention, the Musous aren't even longer than before. Bad Koei.
Value 6/10
- This one's a real ball-buster. It's one thing to not include enough Musous and movesets, but let's just not add fourth weapons or items and stick with random obtainment of mounts. The weapon system has been seriously gimped and randomness means boring farming and grinding. I don't like farming and grinding. If I wanted farming and grinding, I would be in front of my computer playing WoW all day.
- You heard me; Koei has sucked out numerous things that add hours to DW game-time. You'll find yourself completing the game or getting bored with it much faster than before. There's just not enough variety to keep playing.
Sound 3/5
- There is nothing special about the music, unfortunately. Just the same moaning when you kill enemies and just the same sounds when you swing your weapon and just the same bits when you activate Musou. Virtually nothing has changed from older games. What has changed, however, is the exclusion of memorable songs such has Eve from DW4 or the Fan Castle song from DW5.
Bias +1
- I gave the game a bonus point for the complete revamping of the characters. It's effort Koei normally doesn't show.

CONLUSION
- Thanks for reading my review! I hope you got more information about the game, whether to hype or realize what you're getting. I sure had fun with this game and spent some time playing it and will be getting the American version when it comes out. See ya around!

A very nice & honest looking review, the point views are something I’m not used to but they work out quite well, thanks for sharing it with us!

I see that the value category is the lowest rated of the areas, and for a Koei hack n' slash game it's a reasonable call. Many Koei fans know that there could quite easily be much more content in many of their games.

I'm also curious as you ended with "Review #1 closed." Does that mean we have more to come, if so I look forward to them as well, I personally enjoy writing and reading fan reviews. :)

Seems like a fair, honest judgment. A 13/15 for gameplay make me happy! Thanks AceLegend!
