Storyline: KOEI keeps deciding to base things on historical stories, many of which are filled with diverse characters, events, relationships. Some of these include Three Kingdoms era, Sengoku era and the Hundred Years War. Even the ones KOEI put a twist on, or make up are intriguing and sometimes thoughtful. I'm talking about the Kessen and Orochi here. Even the in-game storylines, even though some maybe rushed, are nice to follow and fun to play. There are a few flaws though, as with every game. But I liked the change from DW3 to DW4 Kingdom musou mode, then to DW5 individual musou mode. Even though I really really hate the "handful-of-characters-get-musou-but-not-your-favourite-characters" musou mode in DW6. Characters: With the technology at hand these days, KOEI and Omega Force really get to create fantastic CG characters. I'm talking about the development in Diao Chan, Cao Cao, and Xiahou Dun. We now have nice skin colour and round bodies (not square pixelated ones). KOEI also makes excellent costumes. All characters have different costumes throughout the games. But the characters don't end there. Every character has a unique personality. KOEI expresses these through moveset, voice, dialogue. Some are totally different to history (cough cough Zhang He) and some follow history very well. Some we like, some we hate. Either way, KOEI does a good (not FANTASTICCCCCC but still brilliant) job at presenting each and every 200+ characters they have made. |

My 2 favorite things about KOEI games are Storyline and Gameplay. Storyline - Certain games in the KOEI game franchise are based mostly on historical scenes and events in their particular years, like Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. This made the games very unique and I have become interested into historical games. Looking at Dynasty Warriors, the story is based on Han Dynasty events and involves many battles which occurred during the period, thus the storyline is varied. The wide range of characters contributes indirectly to the storyline of Dynasty Warriors which made the game more lively. Gameplay - KOEI games (some of them) are popular for their hack n' slash genre thing. Let's take Samurai Warriors for example. The gameplay is of course similar to Dynasty Warriors, but Samurai Warriors is more enjoyable because of the missions included that you have to accomplish during a battle and the triple musou bar gauge in Samurai Warriors 2 really amazed me so much. The additional attacks during the triple musou is a great thing, except to some characters especially Nene. (I can't do anything with her clones, not forgetting the static musou) That's all I guess. At least, I can think of some reasons. |

Happy New Year 2008 guys. I choose Storyline and Characters as the factors. Storyline because i just love those games where it's history based game. I really love those games that follow the history quite accurately although with some exception (i.e girls fighting in the battlefield) which i can accept. I really despise those games that involved modern day war. Characters because like for instance DW and SW, we get a wide variety of characters with different types of personality. Each got different weapon (some although similar but yet a bit different). These character designs look cool yet not overdone (i.e. Sengoku basara). I mean they do wear the clothing that fit the time of the period setting. Also the wide variety of characters contribute to the high replayability of the game. Well, that's all i can think of for now. |

I picked Characters and Gameplay. Storyline is always good, but these 2 are the best IMO. Characters: In most KOEI games they have unique and intresting personalities. They each have there own good and bad things and make the characters who they are. They have unique dialogue, which allows the difference in the personalities to be shown and without these unique personalities this would not be able. What would be good with everyone sharing the exact same goals, reasons to fight etc? Nothing much, it would just be a boring game. Characters like Lu Bu, Zhang Liao, Xu Huang and Tadakatsu fight for strength and a challenge, Keiji and Gan Ning fight for the fun of it, most rulers fight to rule the land, but in different ways and for different reasons making it unique. Gameplay: For most games, I play for the gameplay itself. It can be a strategy game or a hack 'n' slash or anything of the sort. For the hack 'n' slash such as Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors, the gameplay is some of the best for a massive scale battle. It isn't the most interesting battle system, but thats what makes it so good. It is simple to use, without going over the top for attacks. It simply allows you to cut or smash through enemies as you fight to the enemy commander or main camp. For strategy games, such as Dynasty Tactics and Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the gameplay is also good. These 2 are very different, yet both very stratigical. Both involve choosing where to attack and what officers you hire, as well as how you hire them. Romace of the Three Kingdoms gives more freedom in this, though the actual battle system is more unique in Dynasty Tactics, using tactics that are gotten before the battle and attacking them, where hitting there flank or rear does added morale loss. The gameplay all around is very interesting and unique in most KOEI games i have played. It is just a very good way to play the game for each of them. |

My 2 Favourite things about KOEI games are characters and storylines Characters: One thing that would make KOEI games enjoyable, especially DW and SW and to some extent the Kessen series is the selection of characters and how realistically pixellated they are thanks to the development of high quality CG technology. They even have their own unique costumes. Each character has their own personality and goals and moveset and dialogue. Some characters are portrayed as they were in history, others are exaggerated and others are completely ahistorical, Xu Zhu and Zhang He anyone? KOEI has done an alrightish job at developing and presenting the characters in each of their games Storyline: What makes ANY game enjoyably, and especially KOEI games enjoyable is the story. Each character has their own story and their own unique plot and personal struggles. In the SW series, the smallish amount of playable characters has helped to keep the uniqueness of individual storylines. That and the historical events on which the games are based helps the plot along. This makes the game more lively |

Gameplay : Because it's relaxing, after a hard day coming home, killing hordes and hordes of enemies, it's just so relaxing (in a psycho kinde way :P) Character: It supports the gameplay because of the many char there are. Because there so many chars in the game, there a lot of different ways to play the game (Xu Zhu or Zou tai, totally different). It also gives the game a lot of replay value. |

I picked Gameplay and Characters: Gameplay: First of all im not really a fan of DW but when i first saw Dynasty Warriors 2 this really cracked me up to play it. Every Character in DW2 has a unique storymode. Zhao Yun which is my first character in DW really impressed me with his voice acting and move sets. Even though its got a bad graphics its still very very good to play because this is my first time to experience a different type of game . Then after playing DW2 many more DW series came up, this made me a complete fan of DW. In each series of the game they made many points of changes such as: *New Playable Characters *New Weapons and Items *New Movesets...Many more! * Unique Storyline for each character..MANY MORE!!! In each sequence of the storyline of each characters it gets very very interesting and more enjoyable, more enemies to kill, more officers, bigger maps to explore, and more experience to be gained.. Its really good that KOEI continued to produce this type of game. I hope they will continue to do this game! (Cant wait till DW6 Europe Release!!!) Characters: Well in DW and SW all characters are awesome!!! Unique Movesets, Very Very Good voice acting and Very Good Storyline. There are few character that really made me play them because of the weapons and movesets. This are the characters: *The Two Qiao's: VERY VERY interesting and really wierd weapon! *Can Paper Fans kill people?!* For me Da Qiao is the best than Xiao Qiao. DaQiao has wierd psychic powers (Like Psychic Gym Leader "Sabrina" of Pokemon O_O). Xiao Qiao with funny movesets and Musou! *She spins like a psycho!!* *ZhenJi and DiaoChan: Again! another wierd weapon! *Flute can kill people now?!* well anyway i love the movesets of this two girls..GOD the voice acting is really sexy.. *ZhangHe: Ahh i think hes the most popular character because koei made him "QUEER" (*No offence to the real ZhangHe R.I.P..*) but hes a really good character and i also think that hes the fastest character in the game. The voice actor of this character is really embarassed because of the bad comments made by the fans and other, but still hes a unique character with a interesting moveset..:) *ZhugeLiang and SimaYi: this two are my favourite character *They are better than Shingen Takeda!!* Cool Laser and Psychic attacks. Nice charge attacks and really really good voice acting. (*SimaYi: Buahahahahahahah!!*). I love SimaYi's arrogant personality, i also love his evil laugh. ZhugeLiang The Sleeping Dragon is a kickass character!! I love his movesets specially the "Mirror" ( Square x2 + Triangle) But in DW6 KOEI made him more kickass!!. Im looking forward to play him! *ZhangJiao: Errrrrrrr....O_O.... The most annoying character in the game! Weak moveset, pathetic musou and a really weak weapon...worst of all the voice acting.. *This is my own opinion* but hes pretty good in "Warriors Orochi", Koei made him a Technique type character which helped him a lot to fight in Chaos Modes. In Warriors Orochi..: DaJi is my favourite character because of her hectic costume and weird flying orbs. Most of all her movesets totally made her a strong character. *BestFriends (Yukimura, Mitsunari and Kanetsugu): I love this trio so much!! I love Kanetsugu's "Honor" Speeches. I Love Mitsunari's Cool personality and I love Yukimura's loyalty and honesty.. I LOVE THEM ALL!! I Hope that Koei wont rush the game..like what they did to DW6 :(. Still im really happy that KOEI made this type of game. *SENGOKU BASARA SUCKS!!* Love them all!! xxx |

I picked gameply and characters: Gameplay: With DW2 it was the first game that I played that had alot of enemies on screen u can hack n slash through. I had never played a game like this before and made it addicting to me. Adding different movesets and weapons to make the gameplay interesting is another point why I really like it Characters: DW has characters that differ alot what I really appreciate. Also the amount of characters that has grown game by game just made it more addicting, since u want to know every character and his relation to the actual story. |

Story Line= Because without the story line the game will be boring. Every game has to have a story mode other wise there will be no reason for playing it. I normally like Koei games because of the enjoyable story mode they have. In SW2 every character have their own unique weapon and unique custome and everything about SW2 was great because everyone had their own unique story mode and they all had different Gaiden which made it more enjoyable. There are some fictional and some historical which made the game even more enjoyable. GamePlay= Without the gameplays then the whole game will be boring as hell. SW2 is probably the best Koei game ever since everyone had their own unique weapon and so their move set was different. |

Characters- Its fun playing as different people, all who have different perspectives, opinions and thoughts about what's going on, it really does make a game better with different characters with different personalities, instead of 5 people who all agree on the same thing. Game Play- Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors (my favourite games) have somewhat the same gameplay, kill enemy soldiers, rule the land, but its fun! Getting the feeling that you're the best in all the land after, you have defeated everyone! |

I'll choose Storyline and Music. For me the first thing that DW dragged my eyes is the awesome and magnificent atmosphere. I've always liked ROTK, the characters, the stories, I've wanted to be a person in that era to see what I would do to survive through the chaos. And DW provided that opportunity, not in a 100% perfect way in my heart but it did the job. First in DW2, you fight through the Yellow Turban rebels and slashes the demon Lu Bu and Dong Zhuo, then on to the fateful Guan Du or the deserted Chang Ban. You actually take part in these historical events that changed the fate of China, how cool is that. In DW3, it stepped further as you fight with different storylines but basically it's the same as DW2 with a little character influence involved. This continued in DW4 where all the characters follow the same timeline again. DW5 is the greatest title to me as it provided individual storylines for each character. You get to use Zhao Yun to see what he saw, fight what he fought, and have the same thoughts as him. It is like if you are Zhao Yun himself and walk along the path of history with him. Or if you like to be the legendary Strategist Zhuge Kongming. Plan every step by yourself and to lead Shu to final victory. There are so many different stories and so many different personalities between. Although DW6 only provided a few storylines but they are all very different from each other, with new twists to make them more fun to play with. DW has evolved step by step, and each time I like it more than last time. That's the uniqueness of the series!!And for the music, that's the second thing aside from the storyline that makes me love the series more and more. MASA is truely a genius, and we cant forget those who composed together with him. They did a great job on passing the Metal and Rock elements to the acient eastern land. I bought the ultimate soundtrack box and saw what MASA said about his feeling for adding Metal and Rock into the game. Many people object him because the game is about acient China and how you gonna give feeling by using these type of music? But MASA said that the game is about Hackn Slash, people have to be hyped up so they will be enthusiastic enough to do the job. And MASA succeeded. Where you heard Yellow Storm, you can feel that you are actually on the battlefield and fight though all the peasants matching through under the mighty Zhang Jiao's command; or struggle during the escape at Chang Ban, where the rythm is fast pased, you have to get your lord and your people to safety, hurry!! Or, at Wuzhang Plains where two genius strategists are comparing intellegence on this land, you have the feeling that this gonna be the final battle, move wisely or you will fall into enemy's traps. From DW2 to DW6, you have bunch of awesome music tracks created by MASA and his teammates. Even if you drag them out from the game, they are still very listenable, while you are driving a car or riding a bike, DW music is always a good choice for ya. Below are my all time favorite tracks from every DW entry:Rough Play Yellow Storm Against All Odds Killing Time Sacred Ground Arena Chase the Wave Exotic Traitors Blast from the East Men of Intellegence Heavy Gauge The Wall of Fate In Full Bloom Eve Interceptor Struggle for Existence Are You Ready Swordsmen in the Plain Breakthrough Dance Macabre Gloomy Shadow The King of Sadness Ignition Welcome to China The Two Heroes Oriental Rush The Battle Without Justice Rock and Roll Over Geniuses Sanctuaries Magnificent Show Long Live Dynasty Warriors!!

My 2 choices are the story line and the gameplay. For me the story line is important as it builds the setting and gives you insight on the characters. I find the eras of 3 kingdoms to be facinating as alot of the past warriors are my heroes. The hurdles they jumped to do what they had to do was amazing. My other choice is gameplay. Without storyline there would be no gameplay. Having an open terrain to roam freely in while KO'ing the good/bad guys is awesome. No loading screens or anything. Just free range to KO opponents find new characters, items and weapons. Once in a while i'll delete my dynasty warriors off of my memory card just so i could beat it again. lol By far for all aspects. The Dynasty Warriors series is the best set of games to me on the planet.....along with the Final Fantasies of course. |

I chose Storyline/Characters. Storyline: I've always been fascinated with the Warriors of old. Back when Combat/War was a honorable thing where warriors could display their skill. this sounds kinda twisted (I do not enjoy war!) but to explain it in full detail would take too long. Characters: In my opinion each character in the SW/DW games brought something unique to the table that made all of them enjoyable to play. |

I decided to go for Storyline and Characters. Storyline Koei always have a good way of telling a story, even if they keep telling it over and over again, like with Dynasty and Samurai Warriors, they always somehow make it different from the last - more colour, new focuses, completely new interaction between characters... It's amazing how they can tell Romance of the Three Kingdoms over and over again and it seem brand new each time. I especially loved the storyline in Kessen 2, mainly because I'm a sucker for romance, but for the fact they took a few key ideas and mixed them in with an over the top war extravaganza. I'm always taken in my Koei's creative writing - to keep the old stuff fresh is pretty amazing to me! Characters What can I say? The destinctive attitudes and designs of the characters that appear in Koei's games pull you in just as much as telling a good story. If you like the character you're looking at, it adds more to the experience. Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, The Kessen series... You'll always have someone you can pick out without much effort because they easily burn into your mind. DW's version of Zhang He in all his fruitiness, Kessen 2's more disturbing version with Yu Jin, the lovely warrior Princess Kicho was Kessen 3, SW's Keiji with his... hair... Uh, and he has an awesome horse as well. You've got to love each and everyone because they are all soooo unique in their own different ways! |

i picked Gameplay and Characters Gameplay - all DW and SW games are so addictive, they are fun and easy to pick up, so even my friends who come over and are not into it, can still just pick up a controller and do pretty good. but then they also have games like Bladestorm and Kessen, which take more strategy so they got alot of variety. they always have lots to unlock like weapons items and characters. which brings me to my other choice. Characters - every single character in DW and SW are historical , and its a real treat to play as a historical figure that you admire, its like if someone made a game of americas founding fathers, also all the characters are quite unique and the design of the characters are always improving, its fun just to see how they look in the next installment.

Characters and Gameplay are definately my favourite aspects out of the list. Characters: It's one of the two things that attracted me to playing Dynasty Warriors in the first place. When I was 9 or 10 at that time, I only played a couple of times but I clearly remembered Zhou Yu's face so he ended up as my favourite character right away. Much recently, I got the game myself and I pretty much fell in love with all characters especially most of Shu. When Warriors Orochi came out, I met the Samurai Warrior's cast which suprised me greatly. Koei has never failed to impress me with the different characters. From Ma Chao's justice ramblings to Nene's motherly love, I really enjoy Koei's characters. Gameplay: There are so many things to talk about I don't even know where to start. For one, the type of gameplay in every game like Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors or even Romance of the Three Kingdoms(ROTK), they always have a style of gameplay suitable for everyone. ROTK has a strategic element to playing but it also has battle elements which doesn't only require strategy but luck too. Dynasty Warriors is not only made up of hack and slash, but it includes several important tasks to turn the tide of battle. Samurai Warriors even has missions rewarding gold if the player completes it sucessfully to increase the fun factor. To Sum it up: If none of this gameplay or these characters existed, I don't think great titles like Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors would have reached such popularity in society today. From different weapons to the multiple movesets and to the fruity and random cast of characters, my vote definately goes to the Gameplay and Characters. |

Well... i actually voted twice...mainly because i couldnt make up my mind...i didnt want to vote a thrid time so...... my favorites are story and characters (while gameplay came close) Story - I just love the way Koei took the events from true history and made them into games. Its like even if you know the story and all, the games never cease to amaze me...especially with the "what if they survived" parts, remarkable indeed. Koei was able to focus more on the character's feeling and interaction with eachother more than the book ever could. They totally dramatize the story, somewhat changed the characters' personality Lu Bu was more loyal to Dong Zhuo in DW3 XL than DW5), and even changed a few parts in the story between games (diao chan killed dong zhuo in 4 and lu bu killed him in 5....and 3 i think) Characters - These guys are totally awesome! I mean i dont say awesome much, but dengit koei forces it out of me.... The characters are the ones that completely blow me away. I understand that when it comes to having soo many characters, you have to go a little crazy, but koei actually made the characters interesting but not lame (for the most part) LEts see here, Fuma is a terrible person who just loves chaos..he has no "true" master...and he (and hoang zhong in 6) has dreads.....what kihnd of asian guy has dreads?!? ohh and also, jus adding this in, koei still stuck to their "main" personalities while adding on to it..... the characters really WOWed me in DW6 - for they ALL looked amazing, i just couldnt even of thought of so many styles there were....Gan Ning was yet again so hot right now, so hot (if u dont get it, watch zoolander) Lu Bu was actually the (main) reason why i got into koei in the frist place (dw2....how fearsome....). I just love they way he is.....feared by all, good-looking, you know the rest.... (ohh and remeber that the majority of the characters weild the weapon stated in history...just a pimped out version....) |

Storyline- I picked the storyline because I simply love the drama, action and also the suspense. I love a storyline that adapts to real history or close to it.
Gameplay-I love how Koei make the gameplay on some games for example the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors games. I like how you can run around the battlefield and slay enemy troops and officers |

I chose Gameplay & Stroyline because... Gameplay-The gameplay is so very advanced and different from games made by other companies. The hack n' slash is very revolutionary and should continue until forever. Dynasty warriors 6 makes the gameplay almost like a real hack n' slash experience. And Slaying 100's is so fun!!!!!! Storyline-The storyline makes me want to know more and continue till the very end. It gives lots of suspense.Even the storylines are the same everytime it always seems to be different and more fun each time! |

Characters: Now what cant i say about these - koei just produces some of the coolest characters available, ranging from gender confused Ranmaru Mori and beauty freak Zhang He. Koei characters are all fun loving in their own wierd way and so whats not to lie about them. Gameplay: Koei games offer so much freedom around the battlefield and that really gives the games theor high points. Also the ovesets are most cool and give all koei characer their individuality which is great casue some games make ther charactera to similar. Also the high tempo levels are enough to eep anyon ocupied. |

I voted for gameplay and characters. Gameplay: This is one of the best things I like about Koei! DW and SW control schemes are easy for typical gamers, it's not too complex or too simple. Another example is Kessen III, one of the best Koei game I ever played. It combined RPG and RTS into one superb and unique gameplay. I can't even explain how good it is! You need to play it, to see and feel how amazing the gameplay is! Characters: Another thing I and probably most of us here, like about Koei games is characters. Koei always does a great job at giving characters personalities and appearances! Again, DW and SW series are good examples. Every character is unique in their own way. From honorable Ma Chao to arrogant Lu Bu in DW, while in SW we have humorous Magoichi and the stubborn Mitsunari. I never seen a game with so many characters manage to do a good job at portraying personalities like Koei did! Kessen III while has good gameplay and story, it also has cool characters designs and personalities. Even NPCs have their own looks and attitudes. Well done Koei! |

That's the uniqueness of the series!!
