Hey, I am a Empires noob admittedly (not a Warriors noob) and I decided to start with SW2E. I have a planned strategy but it never quite works out- Forge alliances with all of the lands around me, so they won't attack me while I am still weak. Use (some) Joint attacks to to strengthen my officers including my leader. Coincidentally, not many attacks happen at the beginning but the surrounding leaders troop numbers and officer level are still steadily growing. To my knowledge, increased officer levels = increased troop numbers. Is there a another way to train early in the game, because Train is not available yet? Is there something overall wrong with my strategy? Please help!!! Thanks. Oh- I usually use a generic officer as my leader, not an established character. And they start off WEAK in battle! Also, should I start out in a regional scenario or Battle of Kawanakajima. Sorry for being so wordy.

Which version PS2 do you both have? SW2:XL disc is DVD9 (IIRC) and had some compatibility issues with certain PS2 consoles. I didn't have any problems, but many here did. Hopefully, there are still some of them around here who can help further since this game hasn't been discussed much lately Other than that, I have no idea how to solve some stories working, but Toshiie's not working. Maybe your PS2's don't like his constant yelling

Isn't it said on the DVD? Anyway, SW2XL is DVD9 and like Honda said, that might be the reason why you have encountered problems with the game. Do you have slim or fat (original model) PS2? I've heard the game works better on slim version. Edited by LoW, Fri Apr 24, 2009 11:21 am.

Have an SW2: XL question. Anyone know how to unlock the music tracks 19(Struggle) and 39(???) in Sound Test? I have track 19 in SW2, but I can't seem to unlock it in SW2: XL. These two music tracks are all I'm lacking from a completed game save. -- Signed: ~Toramaru, "Hatred leads to nothing, and revenge brings only emptiness..." |

I believe those music tracks can only be unlocked by playing original SW2 stories since SW2XL characters don't have stages where you could hear them. |

Thanks, LoW. I managed to unlock track 19(Struggle) by playing through the SW2 characters' Story Modes. But, Track 39 didn't unlock even though I've played through every character's Story Mode. Tracks 1 thru 38 are the same as in SW2, but that's where they ended in that game; so, I figued track 39 would be a new track, but I just can't seem to unlock it. I've put over 120 hours into this game and that track just doesn't want to unlock for me; maybe there's some special condition for unlocking it. Well, I guess I'm just outta luck if no one here knows how it's unlocked. Thanks anyway; and if anyone figures it out, tell me, okay? -- Signed: ~Toramaru, "Hatred leads to nothing, and revenge brings only emptiness..." |

I would highly recommend Samurai Warriors 2. In my opinion, it ranks as one of the better KOEI titles in recent history. |

Extremely early impression. I've played two levels with Mitsuhide. The second level was constant "commander(nobunaga) is in trouble, need assistance at once!" Drove me insane because Oda would be fighting arrow men..... I mean it was constant, i had to keep rushing back for him.... Is this what I can expect through the entire game? Oh and this game seems alot darker than the Dynasty Warriors games, which is cool. I like that there is alot more dialogue. Edited by StylinProfilin, Tue Jul 7, 2009 1:05 pm.

Yeah, you can expect those messages a lot. The allied AI overall is one that needs babysitting. At least that was the case for me. Though there are exceptions when they seem to decide they want to be awesome and open a can of whoop-ass on the enemy. And there are times when they're average, you would hope that they would always be like that but alas. It's great that you decided to pick up Samurai Warriors. Yes, it is darker than a lot of the Dynasty Warriors games and that builds towards the intrigue of it. The characters are also a lot more fleshed out and developed than their DW counterparts. |

In SW2 Empires I have unlocked all special battles (Kawanakajima, Anegawa, Honnoji, Sekigahara) except for the Osaka Campaign. Can anybody tell me how to get this battle? |

This one's a toughie to unlock, but it'll be worth the effort to unlock this special battle event. It's just one historic battle, not a scenario. It will be available on Free Mode after you clear the Sekigahara scenario. (?) First of all, choose Empire Mode and select the Battle of Sekigahara scenario. Finish selecting restrictions conditions you want in the scenario; Next, you'll have the option to "edit" officers in various fiefs. Remove Sanada Yukimura from the Kai fief and place him in an open general slot in a Toyotomi fief. Now comes the hard part: Picking either side- The Western Army or the Eastern Army. It's much more easier to play on the Toyotomi clan other than the Tokugawa since the Toyotomi clan on the computer's side will attempt to take over some fiefs of your neighboring allies; And Sanada Yukimura must be employed in the Toyotomi clan if possible. These are the requirements you must meet in the scenario: Toyotomi - You must own only the Settsu and Kii fiefs. Do not take over fiefs on your own; However you can help allies defend/invade other fiefs. - Sanada Yukimura is employed in the Toyotomi army. - Event battle unlocks in the years 1614-1619 (?) Tokugawa - You can take over the land as much as you want, but do not take over the Settsu and Kii fiefs. The Tokugawa clan must own at least four fiefs. - The Toyotomi clan must only own two fiefs: Settsu and Kii. - You can ally yourself with the Toyotomi if you do not wish the Toyotomi to lose Sanada Yukimura to another clan in any skirmishes the Toyotomi might invoke; Until you reach years 1614-1619 (?), you can annul the alliance if Sanada Yukimura is not lost. - Event battle unlocks in the years 1614-1619 (?) Hope this helps. |

On Yukimura's story mode now. It's better as far as assisting the AI. His cutscenes, especially the opening one is brilliant!! |

I need help with Samurai Warriors:State of War. I've looked up guides and read the manual but I haven't found a guide on subofficers. I would just like to know about their stat gains/abilities. I know as their will increase the bonuses increase. What I haven't been able to figure out is what it means when there is an arrow next to the stat before a battle (either up or down) and when a stat is highlighted to a golden color what that entails. Thanks for any replies, Nall |

Unless I'm not mistaken, Track 39 is Anegawa. Oddly, It doesn't play when you play Anegawa stage in any story. However, if you go to Mercenary mode and select Battle of Anegawa as a battle (if it's a key mission, then a different music plays, meaning that you won't unlock the music), then it should play. Sorry for writing it so complicately, but here's it in short: Go to mercenary mode -> play until Anegawa appears as a normal battle -> Select Anegawa and the music should play in the stage I'm not entirely sure if this is the only way to unlock it. Kinda wierd that it didn't even play in Gracia's Anegawa. |

SW1 question... I am finding it IMPOSSIBLE to unlock Keiji Maeda's 5th stage. I have followed all the instructions stated by multiple guides on GameFAQs.com and on other websites. To the best of my knowledge I've met every single requirement to unlock this stage, TO NO AVAIL!!! I'm honestly thinking about erasing my saved data on my memory card and playing though all over again to try to figure this out. Okay the one thing that I might think is holding me back is that currently I have listed that I completed the mission "Negotiate with Oda Troops" on the Kyoto stage. If you do that you do not get the 5th stage. The thing is that I did this, originally, not knowing that I should not have. It is saved under my missions section in the "Vault" area of the options menu. Am I screwed because I did that? I don't know, I'm just trying to figure out the reasons why I cannot unlock this stage despite my by-the-book efforts to do so otherwise. Please help, anyone who does... well I'll go ahead and thank you ahead of time!
