I've noticed something lately. That game companies really don't care what their fan base thinks or consults them to see what they think. I've got two examples. 1- DW6- Elimination of characters and a buch of other stuff that has been beaten to death on this site so I won't repeat it. Result-Fans in a uproar. No statement issued as to why.(As far as I know) 2-Dungeons and Dragons- The ORIGINAL RPG.Changing how the game is played to something totally different. Just so they can please MMORPG players. Killing off certain famous NPC's to fit the new rules. Result-Fans in uproar, statement issued saying that they listened to players but they aren't changing anything. They feel that this will be a good change. Just really wanted to get this off my chest because I've had this on my mind for awhile. If this is in the wrong place than please move it. |

Wait Final Fantasy: I mean, FFXII was a bit of a letdown for fans considering how good FFX was and how lacklustre FFX2 was. Vaan is merely an effeminate poster boy and the dungeons are insanely long, requiring an insane amount of patience and levels to make it. Breath Of Fire: Capcom's left this once noble series to rot in oblivion. While the originals of BOF, BOF2 and BOF3 were good, the remakes proved to be awful, and stupid. Dragon Quarter set the game underground which made very little sense. |

Ya, I can deffinitley say that Koei does not listen to their english speaking fans. Because the two main sources for Koei fans in the west is this site and the Koei forums. I am a member of both, and yet none of the great ideas people having posted in the past have never been used whatsoever in the DW games. Not sure about the Japanese fans though, I would expect Koei to at least listen to them. |

And explained a bunch of times, Koei cannot always reach the expectations of everyone. They're always going to do something that no one will be happy with. That is an example though, what you just stated. But above all else it might have been for the best removing them, they already dramatically improved the series, that means more, work, higher expectations. Who knows, the removed characters might come back one day with things most Koei fans will love. |

If you were a game company, you would try to produce products that make the most money. And unfortunately, hardcore fans of the game aren't the ones you'd want to appease. Instead, you'd want to make your game appeal to as many people as possible. Profits are all that count in the end. |

Game companies don't listen to their fans because all their sucker fans will end up buying their games anyway. Besides, if I helped produce a game and some 12-year old kid would starting telling me: "Noes! ur sposed 2 do it tis wai!" I'd ban him from the internet. Game companies listening to fans kills the creative process and we'll end up getting the same over and over and over. |

I agree with T'sao Ricky, even if Koei didn't remove the characters, fans will always find a way to make it look like that DW6 isn't so great... Like, the stages, some think that they are too few or it would have been better to add this or that or to have removed the renbu system and such... Everyone is different from each other, I love Ice Cream when SOME people don't. It's impossible to please everyone since all has his/her own likes and dislikes, one may like something the other hates. AND, If the companies don't care about the fan's opinions, then there won't be any improvement at all

Of course it would, look how many fans are sticking around to see what the next repetitive games will be like. |

I think that koei's reason for not listening to their fans was deliberate but with good intentions. If koei had created DW6 as DW5 with 6 new characters, enhanced graphics and more maps, then fans would be stuck with more REPETATIVE gameplay. Repetativeness is what has made recent DW (and SW) games have such low scores with reviewers in recent years and all the new additions and changes, from what i've seen, have broken away from that and have possibly re-created the series. |

Of course KOEI doesn't care that much about Western fans. You know why, because they get the most money from Asia that's why. The world of business is ruled by the almighty dollar.

From what I've understood, Musou games don't have low scores with reviewers in Japan and I think in Asia in general. Besides, as gtown said, KOEI doesn't care much about West. |

Wow I didn't think this would garner this much attention! But this could become a debate so maybe it should be moved to there. |
