Generic Title Posts: 2,348 Group: Moderators Member #5,876 Joined: March 2, 2007 Gender Male	Palestinians have recently fled to seek refuge in Egypt due to the blockade on Gaza. Negotiations with Hamas proved to be useless and the Egyptians decided to allow the Gazans to come across the border. IMHO, I'm glad Hosni Mubarak isn't being a jerk about this like last time, he actually let them in. What do you think?

Posts: 6,547 Group: Members Member #1,747 Joined: April 28, 2006	Well, the Palestinians kind of had to flee Gaza because of how desparate the situation was there due to a total cut off of outside goods and aid. Hosni Mubarak is doing the right thing letting them in. It's more "mass migration" than a jailbreak.

Just that ever since the creation of Israel, the Palestinians have been unwelcome "guests" in refugee camps in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Egypt.. And for all the Israel-Palestine drama that you hear about in the news, there's at least as many stories of Palestinian-Syrian, Palestinian-Jordanian, Palestinian-Lebanese, Palestinian-Egyptian conflict. The only place the Palestinians were ever really welcome was in Lebanon during the civil war.. when they could be used as freelance soldiers for whichever side needed a backup militia.

You seem to be more knowledgeable about affairs in the Middle East then i would've give you credit for Drew, impressive indeed... But you said it, 'ever since the creation of Israel', the two nations can not cooperate properly with both sides having major faults... About the Palestinians in other countries thing, the only involvement they have that i personally know of is their whole refugee camps in Lebanon, in fact from what i've heard the terrorist/militia group "Fatah Islam" consisted mainly of them and the fact that they hid in the refugee camps which were quite sad.... EDIT: Damn i made a mistake with 'Fatah Islam', Palestinians were not the group in it, it was more a mix of countries (i.e. Yemen, Syria, Iran, Iraq), they however hid in the Palestinians Refugee camps..

When Israel was created, most of the people who used to live in that area became refugees. Regardless of the religious issues, it was only natural that these people who are being displaced {losing their homes and their jobs to make way for state-protected immigrants from Russia and Europe and America} became extremely angry at the Israeli government. Not to mention the fact that all neighboring Muslim states immediately declared war and attempted to destroy the Israeli government to restore a sort of "natural order" to the territory. Israelis were never going to offer sanctuary to the Palestinians after this baptism by fire. The Israelis have two major problems with the Palestinians. For one, they're afraid of them -- they fought for their life in the 1948 war and they saw the Palestinian rebels within Israel as an arm of their enemies. Two, they genuinely resent what the Palestinians represent -- The Israeli takeover of Palestine was extremely messy, and for all intents and purposes, the Israelis are still just "squatting" on land that belongs to someone else, and the fact is.. the Palestinians still hold the physical legal deeds to huge segments of the Israeli landscape -- this is a shame to the Israeli nation and the current citizens. Fatah still exists, it's become essentially a political faction in the new Palestinian "state." It was originally a Palestinian militia organization and became the most powerful leg of the Palestinian Liberation Organization. But yes, the refugee camps were basically headquarters for the PLO, especially the Lebanese camps.. it was really the only safe place for the Palestinian political movement.. with the Lebanese Civil War going on.

And yeah a lot of Arabs despise Israeli's because of them doing what they did in "Palestine" or Israel now =/ I just hope there's a peaceful resolution to all conflict going on in the Middle East especially in Lebanon, i remember Lebanon being one of the most 'stable' (for lack of a better word) country in the middle east and because of the outside influence from Syria and other countries, the assassination of Rafik Hariri and of other political/military figures who were fighting to better Lebanon as well as Hassan Nisralla's negative influence (aka leader of Hizballah), it has become very volatile, but i'm seriously getting off topic here i guess =/

I don't see how this too much of a sensitive topic either. Though you know me, I don't care for the word sensitive. There won't be peace there for a long time. But hey, at least we're not hostile, racist, or totally xenophobic of these people. The ones that are in the middle of this crap are welcome over here or to a number of other stable countries... The problem is that most of these people can't do so. Any of those people that have had some hard times in wars like those have my sympathy.
