I was reading game manuals just a while ago and found out something quite interesting regarding Profiency: "The higher your Profiency, the less damage you receive from enemy attacks."

I wonder if it had the same effect in WO? That would explain why the strength of R1 attacks never increased even though that's what everyone thought >_>.

But that still wouldn't explain the peon-poke-of-death on Chaos

Even with max Proficiency, you still take a ton of damage.

it certainly makes them appear less-fearsome. i was sort wanting the boars to at least inspire a bit of worry. but, no, they're terribly slow and not that strong and unbelieveably stupid. and then they are called "Chickenbone" or "Washbucket". pointless.

Dodomekki is more threatening to me. Sharing Kotaro's flexible moves he can be irritating to beat at times.

Gyuki just sends you flying with little damage.

i have also noticed the odd names for the Evil Ninjas(Wishbone?) and the Boars(Travertine?)-that's a type of floor tile? strange.

Strange indeed. I understand that there are themes behind those names. But many of them aren't particularly cool or fearsome. They're just...meh, making the enemies seem like inanimate objects. Of all the minerals out there, why name a giant boar monster something like Dioptase?

Then again, the names could have been intended to follow the general silliness of the crossover aspect of this game.

I don't really like Kojiros's new Zhang He voice. I found his in SW2XL more freakier and easier to hear. Its too soft and quiet in this game. But I've only used him in one stage I think. Maybe I'll try after doing this repeat Orochi story and will use him then.

Orochi X's musou drain can get annoying, but also using it in stupidity when you have little filled up and he's there spamming it like any dum AI...

His battle motion sounds will get annoying over time.. it sounds like he's waging war with a bad case of constipation.

LOL Okuni's VA is the same VA for Da Ji.

As for the names, I don't really pay much attention to those. As long as they still have badass lines I'm fine with whatever else.

"this is where you will wither and die"
"I will choke the life out of you"
"next time we meet will be your death"(I like the emphasis in tone put on death)

Oh wow. They do sound alike though.

Well, I finished Wei. I like the Cao family, particularly Cao Pi, however his story was a bit well, how should I say, the only ones who respect Cao Pi was Mitsunari and a few other SW officers. The officers of Wei was are just way too loyal to Cao Cao and unwilling to put their faith in Cao Pi. His character alone though held Wei's story up pretty well, like Sun Ce, Cao Pi is almost completely out of the picture in WO2. Cao Cao though, this is a lord's POV scenario done right. He planted his ambush units right from the start and his force in general didn't require much babysitting(then again this wasn't chaos).

All that's left for me is Shu and Orochi.

My two gripes with the game:

Way too many archers. The whole enemy force might as well be archers. Good luck everyone already on chaos: The poke-a-thon is surely going to drive you nuts.

Second gripe: I feel KOEI made acquiring the characters too easy, and I mean there is no effort in getting a lot of them at all. In WO getting some of them was a bit difficult.

There's an enchant that eliminates staggering from arrows, and they don't do that much damage anymore. My only complaint with them is that they have a tendency to mess up my tag combos.

The characters were probably easier to unlock because Koei wanted to put emphasis on getting to the new characters as soon as possible, and because they didn't want people who bought the first game to be without their favorite characters for too long.

And so now after beating Shu story, of the three, I like to say Shu is the best.

===================================================
Biased Surgeon Generals warning: Qiao only says that because Gracia is unlocked in the story.
===================================================

For one thing, for those of you aspiring to use Himiko, this where she is unlocked. Lui Bei played a much better role in WO2 this time around, than in WO1 where he was captured for half the story.

Speaking of Gracia.. she's not really all the great as she is in SW2XL, but I'll talk about that in another topic.

Orochi's story from what I could tell by beating the first stage is going to be mad lulz all the way to chapter 8.

If you want Cao Pi to be given his respect, try Cao Pi's, Guan Ping's and Gracia's Dramatic Mode.

I personally had nothing wrong with the archers, it was the mass magicians that annoyed me. Hasedo just had so many of them from what I can remember.

I personally like unlocking them easier, even Orochi X is simple to unlock, it just takes time from what I can predict and have heard.

Orochi's story is not really that tough as long as you use him lol. But I only did for a few stages, Keiji was my main here. So as long as you use one or the other you'll be fine the way through. Not forgetting that Da Ji's attacking speed can help with her C1 and R1.

Dammit! I've been using the free levels for the characters I won't use that much and have been levelling all to 15. I just hate not being able to stack past 99999.

Does it really effect the stats? I'll only end up resetting them anyway, so what I'm doing is kind of pointless, haha! Thank the officer reset. :)

Leveling them the hard way by battling makes you kill officers and peons, nabbing proficiency :P So it's not really you have to, but if you do, it makes things easier, leveling and earning proficiency at the same time

It doesnt really affect stats.

Oh yeah, okay. I knew about not getting the proficiency, so I can just work on that after. I still find resetting them better and doing those 1 star Dramatic Modes more fun than many story missions this way. The officer fights are closing back to DW3 and lasting longer with an even fight, so that's great.

Would you get mauled if you attempted to try a level 1 character there? Unless you bring a high levelled character along and switch to nab the points this way? Because that mean's you'll be just 3 points away from your 3rd outfit.

If that character was Shin Orochi, probably not since that was what I did XD. As long as you don't get surrounded by the Gyukis it should be fine B)

Now you guys got me into playing my Jap WO2!

Well that's it. All story modes cleared. I musou'd my way through Orochi's story lmao. It was funny letting like 4 officers huddle around me and then unleashing Da Ji's musou and quickly switching to Orochi to bust out his true musou and getting 2-3 level ups and 1 lvl of proficiency in 10 seconds of slaughtering. Survival mode isn't fun because CAN BARELY BLOCK but the computer can turtle all day long >_>. All I'm gonna do now is max the abilities and then spam hard stages to get 4th weapons and then head back to the stages I didn't get 1,000 KOs in.

Just started Samurai story. Definitely the best opening movie so far. Sakon is my hero .

The story seems quite interesting even though I'm only at 3rd stage. Sakon and other samurais weren't even mentioned during Wei's story so it makes me wonder if they have unique story like Shu had in first WO.

Hasn't come out for your country yet?

Another thing I have noticed is there is a third set of customs. I'm liking Nu Wa's all white-blueish color swap.

You know, thinking about it more, I dont think the name Orochi X is really that bad.

I mean, think about, he's supposed a stronger version of Orochi himself, not a completely different person. So, in turn, he was given a name that implies that he has been "upgraded".

Take a bunch of other games for example, (just for this im using FF as my example even though I know FF and KOEI have nothing to do with eachother, but my point stands :P)

In a bunch of FF games, many characters have gone through similar transformations. Such as Sephiroth to Bizzaro/Safer Sephiroth, Kuja to Trance Kuja, Seymour and his many forms etc....and so forth.

I just thought id say my opinion on his English version name, because I think it fits right.
