I can pretty much say that the charge attacks being included is somewhat false...

So far, everyone has been confirming that this is true. The charge attacks don't seem to be in the game.

I don't have Samurai Warriors 2 XL, and the details on these moves are pretty vague. Are they just an extra charge move? One per character? If so, then it's disappointing that they're not in, but it's really not a big deal.

(I watched a video on YouTube and it only showed one move per character.)

Well, the charge attacks in SW2...well, some of them will automatically buff your character with their R1 specials, for example, Nobunaga impales one enemy with his sword for a good amount of damage, blows him off of it, and then his sword is charged up one level. Ginchiyo holds her blade up, lightning begins striking everywhere, and she slams the blade down after imbuing it with lightning as well, after which her blade is buffed for a bit.

Other characters, though, just have extra attacks without buffs. Like Magoichi points his gun at the enemy and fires a huge high-damage explosive fireball at them. Keiji slams his mandible thingy on the ground, sending up a wide burst of wind that launches the enemy in the air and is good for comboing. Tadakatsu fires three large energy balls forward, etc, etc.

EDIT: BTW, I figured out how the weapon ability system works in a bit more detail. Wen you have the ingredient to unlock the recipe, you must make a weapon with the listed elements on it, separate from your main weapon. When you have the weapon ready, you go to your recipe screen, select the recipe, and when you choose the weapon and execute the synthesis, that weapon will be consumed in exchange for a 'stock'. The stock represents one charge of that ability, which you can save until later or put it on a weapon immediately. The weapon doesn't have to be a weapon from the same character that you farmed the materials with, either, I don't think, so you can farm the materials with level 99 Sun Wukong or something, and then place the ability on level 1 Xiao Qiao's weapon, if I'm right.

I uploaded that roster video you asked for...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=MtEyjWXGrZQ

Observations:

1. They kept the roster selection screen and the the BGM the same as the first game, which is AWESOME!

2. They seemed to have divided the SW roster into 3 which is understandable, but why they divide the way it is confuses me:

SW1- Yukimura, Keiji, Nobunaga, Mitsuhide, Goemon, Kenshin, Oichi, Okuni, Kunoichi, Magoichi, Shingen Masamune

SW2- No, Hanzo, Ranmaru, Hideyoshi, Yoshimoto(SW2XL look), Tadakatsu, Ina, Ieyasu, Mitsunari, Nagamasa, Sakon

SW3- Yoshihiro, Ginchiyo, Kanetsugu, Nene, Kotaro, Musashi, Toshiie, Motochika, Gracia, Kojiro, Katsuie

I really hope they change the names of the sections in the english release.

3. All of the non DW and SW characters have been put into one section, though from the looks of it its called Other2. I really hope they change that in the english release too.

Other2-Orochi, Da Ji, Taigong, Sun Wukong, Fu Xi, Nu Wa, Yoshitsune, Kiyomori, Himiko, Shin Orochi

4. The voices when they are selected is a really nice touch!

I dont get how they divided them into three rosters either D:

By the way, Did Koei fix the bugs with ranged attacks?

If you dont get what I mean, I mean DW characters C5 (SSSST), and Some SW ranged attacks like Kanetsugu Naoe's C3 (SST) with the star and the laser attack. Those were one of my favorite moves to use because they looked cool and Koei ruined them by making them not the way they originally were Dx

I keep worrying about the constant change in VAs, coz they seem to differ nearly every game and some VAs are better and some are worse. <_<

Simple. Since they didn't add any brand new Sengoku characters, if they kept the roster in WO1 (15 SW1 characters in Sengoku1 and 4SWXL+10SW2 charas in Sengoku2), Sengoku3 will only consist of the 5 SW2XL characters, causing a great imbalance in the roster.

Yeah, Kenshin's is getting progressively worse every game I play. Thats why I have to go back and play SW1/XL some days.

Sounds simple enough but what I don't get was how come people like Yoshimoto and Hidyoshi are classed as SW2 characters when they are playable in SWXL?

Apparently, the roster list in WO1 was designed to fit up to 15 characters. So SWXL characters were added in the Sengoku2 section. Besides, if they were really put in Sengoku1... 19 vs 10... it's unbalanced already.

That's the best explanation I can find... CMIIW.

Would you rather have them speaking their own languages with subtitles? Communication between Samurai and Dynasty warriors will be hard, and what language would Orochi's forces speak?

Orochi and his minions would hiss or speak Orochi-ish :P Seriously, I rather had them all speak in 1 language. More easier and less hassle for the people at KOEI.

And considering the different timeframes and areas they're all from initially, they would be speaking different dialects as well. It's even a leap of faith to assume all of the characters in Dynasty Warriors spoke the same language; here this is just one of those 'suspension of disbelief' sacrifices we'll make in order to get good story meat (like interaction and the like!).

Well this is a new world, so everyone when the switch happened learned the language of Orochi's world.

Maybe...
