Christine de Pizan will give you the Explosives Book, yes. You will know when you will get the Special Battle since the Bakeep will read the letter out to you, and only after besting John Hawkwood. From that point don't slack or nod off for a moment or you'll find yourself bothered since you forgot to save recently.

How do you get the Magics book? I so wanna use them, but I haven't even seen them in battle or anything. Is there a certain point they are introduced? Or something? |

Just a note... I only got the avatar of war turn up AFTER the 'special contract'. I kept playing and playing before the contract but he never showed, but once I'd finished the contract he turned up and gave me the book. |

Thanks, that's helpful information. So basically the best thing to do is complete all Books up until 70% and then participate in the Special Battle contract. Its just that beforehand I never stated that the contract had to be done in order to get him to show himself, so thanks PostalOrder. |

Hi, I want to start by saying thanks for this FAQ, it has been very helpful. About getting guns. You can do this on 3 star fame; I have done it multiple times now. It takes along time and some knowledge about the main story missions in the game. The first thing you have to know is which stories, characters and areas affect unlocking it. The second is the game has a general common sense factor built into it, be it intentional, or not. A character cannot be in two places at once, example: If La Hire is suppose to be at Limoges he can't be at the at battle of Bayonne as well.(Fastoff is the only exception I have seen) Not the greatest example, but you should get the idea. You should notice this effect by the abscence of unlocked generals from being fielded because they are at another battle that is waiting to take place. In the same token a major battle cannot take place in the same area at the same time. What you have to do is ignore the main story for awhile. Let it sit and focus on clearing everything that effects the missions surrounding getting guns. If a major battle is to take place in Gascony do it. You can't go looking for "just right wood" while trying to resuce Iamarl, just can't happen. However, ignore everything else main plot wise, and pursue minor plots. The other two things I have always had to do are advance the "Red Legend" story to the point where you find the heirloom brooch, and do Philliappa's first fight in Gascony.(these two can be sidestepped, but it is a real pain) Normally I have about 30 to 35 hours of play in a game, and am at 3 star fame before I get the explosives book. I hope this helps some, if clarifcation is needed on anything let me know. Happy gaming, Volly Edit: Oops! I almost forgot to mention having the "Hunter of the Battlefield" status seems to help get it started. The best way I have found to get this is not to do the village defence fight where you meet Joan until you have heard the "Legend of the Hunter". |

well, thats actually very helpful, i guess LDZ will add it to the faq soon enough, but one thing: not everone will know about allof he ways and meas of getting the guns book, so i doubt they would stopto try tand get it, but for those who hae alredy gone through a few times like yourself, this info would be far more useful. |

Thankyou for the welcome. Sorry for taking so long to post again. Due to my living situation I only have limited and intermittent access to the net.
I'm not certain that this is true. In the game I am currently playing I have fought 155 contracts for the English so far, and 153 for the French. I have been given command of the French forces for the final story battle. I was very careful to remain neutral throughout the game by balancing my contracts as-much-as possible. I might have missed some factor in there, not sure. The only thing I can see that would have made the French choose me is my decision to Fight for them at Crecy and Orleans. Also, the Bartenter states you must pick your own path before the battle, and La Hire says "You are with us!" after. Back to the issue of guns. I will play through again, starting about a day from now. I will take notes this time and try to highlight what, and what not to do as far as battles and stories go. It will probaly take about a week. I can email you my finding rather than posting them, if you prefer? Otherwise, it could wind up reading like a short novel instead of a post. :lol: It would also give you a chance to gut it and possibly condense it.
A note on the avatar... The avatar will not normally appear if there are minor issues pending. Example: Diane needs you act as go-between for her and her father. Clearing the side quests makes certain nothing interfers with his showing up. If you clear the game before completing the side missions it seem to bog down his return, or appearance for that matter. The same thing happens with Christine. |

It might be the order in which you completed your missions then, or how fast you went through a paticular portion of the game. I'm trying to lock down what blocks events from happening. I usually have her stuff done, so that might mean there is a block if you don't complete her earlier. This used to be so much easier when I could just read the script and figure out what was going on. :lol:@ LDZ I guess you missed my question. So I email the info to you. Unfortuately when I copied it to the site's email It lost it's formatting, and I didn't have time to fix it. hopefully it still makes some sence. If not, I will have to post it and reformat here. |

I finally got all books to 100% so I'm bored... Who here has a Muramasa?! : D Are "special" drops like Robin Hood's Bow, Lu Bu's Halberd, and Saint George Helm only from notables, ie King of Pansies, Joan of Arc, Bertan...du...uh...FRENCH XU ZHU, Phillpe..uh...FRENCH YUAN SHAO...etc? If you play as a female character, do they mostly get lame heavy armor like the guy? If they actually get some..yaknow...feminine...I'd like to know. : o When the heck am I gonna see "! Special Battle"? I'm pretty sure I've done all the other quests....I think. Do I have to finally max my fame bar thing? |

Sorry if someone made this topic already, but Im having a hard time playing this game. My friend who has this game for 2 months and gave up playing 10 mins of it and never played it again; he says the game sucks compare to Dynasty Warrior, Im starting to agree with him because I keep dying in this game. I mean I cant even pass normandy. So far the best unit Im with is Shortbows, I can just do rapid fire, but I really hate how the system forces you to recharge your stamina in order to attack; I mean it's more realistic, but it's more annoying at the same time. Also I cant find any health packs .etc. |

where do you find the Trumpeteers? Where should you start off from in normandy? what kind of unit is the best? Should I go solo when Im recharging? should I take another unit when recharging? how do I defend? why do I lose so much life? where do I find health? Why cant I shoot with the shortbow after 10 mins? |

Hmm... Trumpeteers cannot be hired. You must find them in the field yourself. They are the units that look like jokers and play music which gives off melody notes above their heads. 1. Horses are easily the most fluent and easy-going units. You will complete the game much quicker. 2. When all the horse abilities are not charged etc, go solo when you come across an officer and use his square skill. Also buy pennants from the shop to give you the boost in battle. 3. You cannot defend. 4. Don't know lol...I suppose you are using the wrong units that are weak to the enemies at the time? You must mix and match. 5. By securing bases or finding wild rabbits - just walk into them. |

if you have troubles with the game, just pick a unit, and pick off some easy battles, dont just go charging into a base, thats just stupid...but then again, thats what i do now :rolleyes: but just keep on doing just some easy, simple battles untill you get your stats up, or you just feel more confident in taking on more enemies...oh, and when controlling a unit, press select to see what that unit is good against, and bad against...use that it picking off enemies |

1: NEVER pick a fight alone with any unit untill you are further in the game in wich you overpower lower range star difficulty armys. 2: Starting out you will die a few times atleast yes, but use that to level the units you want to stick with, the stronger they become, the less times you die and leveling up their abbilitys will also cut down the time on the stamina waiting, enhance their attackpower and give them elemental propertys in certain attacks. 3: When you have the money, use it for equip not for items. 4: If you really have an extremely hard time, use horse and sword and shield units, those are the best units in the early game and prove to be sufficient even in the highest difficulty stages. 5: Most people know since the introduction ingame covers it but, always hold R1 when in battle with your division against another, you will keep attacking melee while your skills recharge. 6: In the early stages of the game NEVER attack a dark (purpish) symbol division with your division, it means you are WEAK to this division and will suffer extreme amounts of damage when hit. aim for the ones weaker than you, if you are really not sure check the game-guide. And just keep at it. |

I wouldn't advise rule 3 to an extent. You will find that your cash will stock quickly and continually in Bladestorm and will end up having all the best equipment just as long as you not only just do the story. Since pennons are very useful. |

My most important question. I heard that Cao Cao's Sword of Heaven is available to buy at the Merchant as one of the legendary weapons... HOW DO I GET IT??? Is it by random luck, or what? I'm currently broke because of purchasing Zhao Yun, Guan Yu, Nobunaga etc.'s weapons, but IMO my character would be complete with Sword of Heaven. Someone, please help!
 My other question refers to mercenary stories. I'm now 5 star but I haven't even done Karen's "Her Reason" story where you race with her to deliver the message. I also haven't had anything to do with Diane, and nothing to do with Yoshi. (I also haven't met Richard Beauchamp). Will the game just recycle these missions now, except with more stars/difficulty? Or will they be recycled as they are, if at all? From a lonely poster...

ok, for your first question, yes, it is just luck, and some weapons being slightly harder to get than others (rabbits paw helps a lot) and after a while, you just cant buy certain weapons...you must find them, by beating certain enemies, and collecting the red chests they drop, again, pot luck my friend for your second question...thats ok, im sure if you were going to miss some stories...which im sure you wont, it wouldve told you by now something, i dont know what. So just be patient, and just focus on training up your books, and eventually they will come
