Posted on Aug 22 2008, 02:27 AM Aaagh. Pot luck is a tricky thing. It's like roulette. I wonder if I really made the most use out of this character, because I really enjoyed the story, so I did every story mission asap and I finished the story pretty early. I seem to be okay because I got the Explosives book and the final spear tome afterwards, but the Avatar of War hasn't come to me yet and I don't have the Engineers book. I hope I haven't run into that glitch... This game seems quite random in how individual players experience it though. ----------------------------------------------------------------- I think the horsebows are really difficult to use. Anyone got any advice? How to use horsebows, please ? |

yes, the horsebows can be quite difficult to use, but then again, so are the longspears, at the lower levels...but i find that if you dont try and overdo your attacks, you can survive with them for far longer, and makes gaining levels easier. One plan, would be to sit back and use them like you would a regular bow unit, or you could use them as you would a regular horse unit...it all depends on how you want to use them

Thanks. But at least Pikeman have way shorter recharge times for their abilities. If I tried to use mounted bowmen the same way i would use sword horsemen or knights (i.e. accelerate)... man. I think shooting from a distance like archers sounds like a very good idea, I'll give that a go. Since I have three questions, I'll just post them here anyway: 1. What is the difference between Lady Lancers, Royal Lancers, Knights, and Armoured Knights? On first impression it would seem the Royal Lancers are the toughest cavalry unit in the game. Your opinions? 2. Even if you have a favourite unit (such as Man-at-Arms), you can't really decide what recruits the "chessboard" in the tavern is offering, can you? You can only work with what you got. 3. Is there anywhere on the net where we can read the fully completed diary entries for every story and character? I am not sure whether I have completed some of the characters' stories yet (such as Edward and Gilles de Rais), and I have given up trying to access the info certain other characters, like Richard Beauchamp, Hal, and Magnus. I wonder if anyone else hasn't read the fully completed stories either? |

ok, ill try to answer you questions the best i can
1. I think the difference between those you posted, would be some of the unique abilities...like 'ability guard' etc, those kind of things, when your at the recruit selection screen, you can see if they have an ability 2. Yes, no matter what you do, the units that will appear there will be completely random...but it will always, no matter what, have a unit from each book 3. There is no site that i have seen, probably because i havent looked :rolleyes: but just tell me, how far have you gotten in each characters stories...i could probably tell you how far you are...i think ive done em all

In regards to 3., thanks 8) Well, I wouldn't be too sure. Okay here are the characters I KNOW I haven't done completely or at all: Hal Shakti (haven't met her yet) Beauchamp Karen (I only remember I did the "A Sister's Words" mission) The blonde sharpshooter mercenary (forgot her name) Yoshimasa (only did the mission where he keeps on charging to death) Magnus (I know I met Hawkwood but I havent beaten the legendary merc yet) Phillipa (DAMN IT!!) These are the ones I'm not sure I've completed: Edward King of England Joan of Arc La Hire Gilles de Rais The ones I definitely completed are: Henry Percy/Iamari, Branwyn, Phillipe Le Bon/Marie, Arthur de Richemont/You Ji, Marc/Georges, Christine de Pizan. |

Also had another question: Before the Battle of Orleans, I had two Shards of Aegis. Should refrain from doing Orleans until I find all of the Shards? Or can I still level up to 4-star and still find the other Aegis shards? |

you can take as long as you want in getting those pieces, you can do the battle of Orleans, and even the battle at Bordeaux(seeing as your on the French side) and you can still not get them all untill after those battles

uhh, i dont really know, im only a little bit into my english campaign  and im only just past Crecy, and with time constraints lately (exams <_< ) i havent had that much time to play it...so just look out for anything

I saved my character pre-Orleans so I could play as France and also try out the English side of Orleans without having to start another character. That mission is CRAP. Except for Falstolf, who makes some pretty cool remarks, the whole mission is boring, yet difficult. Sounds like a contradiction, but yeah... It's just waiting for three whole days (so basically the mission MUST take 30 minutes) defending the central base (with that huge bridge to Orleans) from the assaults of de Rais, La Hire, and Joan. Talbot is completely useless, his lame spears get decimated by de Rais' Sword Knights, La Hire's poleswords, and of course Joan's knights. All the bases fall extremely quickly due to the French morale boost, and before the first day was over, my final base's points were gone. Not to mention the cutscenes feel a bit... missing. I hate fighting against their combined force. Not to mention it's so much more fun to fight against the English at least on this level, alongside the big three... Alright, here's another question for the FAQ: what exactly does the artwork "The Warrior Maiden" do? Is it like Rabbit's Foot, just giving you good luck at finding weapons? Or what? |

lol, i havent really got that far with the english :lol: but then again, i dont really care too much for them :rolleyes: from what you said, that defence of Orleans seems quite difficult, but i guess if you have the right units, you can easily take down the two horse officers (Joan & Gilles) and i think just use a good knife unit to take out La Hire As for "The Warrior Maiden"...never heard of it, but i dont think it would boost luck like the rabbits foot does...can you post the description for the warrior maiden though? |

Haha I'm okay with some English missions, but Orleans was simply shocking. Can't quote what the Warrior Maiden says exactly because I forgot to save (!!! :mad:), but it's basically the real version of the Portrait Replica. And it says something like: "A portrait of a beautiful maiden holding a weapon. It is said to bring luck to its owner." And the picture of Joan with the flag looks clearer and glossier than the one of the Portrait Replica. Still not sure if it's just a lesser Rabbit's Foot though. My other character managed to obtain it, my current one would have too, except, as I said, I forgot to save... $%#% |

I recently got this game and have progressed quite a bit in it. A couple of questions have arisen though. 1. Is it possible to finish the game by doing ONLY English missions(Or only french missions), that means absolutely not a single French mission? 2. What are the permanently missable items/weapons/etc. and what is the 'point of no return' for them? Thanks in advance |

you have chosen a good game then 1. To elaborate on what Yosei said...you cannot go through the entire thing doing just one side...the game makes sure that you get a go at both sides. This is pretty much only when it comes to important missions that affect how you progress through the game, to getting to know a character etc. This way, you get to see all the characters in the game, and get to know their story. 2. i dont think there are any weapons/items/etc that have a cut off point, or actually, i think that if you starts the special battles at the end...i dont think you can get some of the rarer books, or perhaps i just need to play the game more to actually get them

Hello there BS players. I am new to here  .Recently I have been playing BS and really like the game. I have done all the side missions listed above, and am facing the Special Battle over and over. Is there any special or hidden goal for this Special Battle? I have tried hunting down and defeated every French officers, but seems no special reward for me.  If that's the end of all the game, I feel a little bit sad, because in this special battle you just need to find a good place to hide and wait for the end of the contract if your squad levels are too low. Moreover, I see little pentagram on the upper right corner of button DIARY when at Tavern, and when I open DIARY, I see pentagrams near STORY and PEOPLE. Does all this mean I have finished all the missions and found all the people? Thanks. |

Hi, welcome to the forum I think that those pentagrams would most likely mean that you have completed all of the entries...so I dont think that there would be much else that you could do, except perhaps get every book to lv99

I'm not sure if this question was already covered but, how do you equip weapons that you find on the battle field? I've beaten the game and gotten Excalibur, then I also got the Sacred Light spear but I can't find out how to equip them. |

You equip the weapons from the skill book menu in the tavern. So after you do one, you can then go through all the other units and equip your stuff. |

hey guys this is going to sound stupid but I thought it belongs here, I just got this game and when I insert the game it says that the game doesn't work with the current video output. Ouch, yes, it's maybe your copy in NTSC standard :s if your console is a PAL version, it probably won't work :s (or maybe with a patch, dunno :s) |
