Err, well I don't think that applies to everyone... We don't know for sure what any of the DW characters' historical counterparts looked like, but apparently the historical Zhou Yu was renowned for his "handsome good looks..." of course Koei emphasizes this trait by turning him into a "pretty boy" so that the fan girls have some eye candy.  Though personally I think he was more attractive pre-DW6. I find he looks very plain now and the outfit he wears is awkward looking from the waist down. |

I really dunno whether I prefer him pre or after DW6. It's a good look for him, i think but it's just so different... it would be hard for me to say "It's a definite improvement or worse version of his original" because it's just kinda hard to compare them. Also I read some of the encyclopedia articles on Dynasty and dunno if you guys know this or not but historically he was said to be very talented at music from a young age, even when he was drunk it is said that he'd turn around and look at the musicians if they made the slightest mistake... Must be why they gave him such elegant, dancing moves with his sword.

Yeah, it's said that he's very talented in music. Though the part of his jealousy towards ZGL is fiction, historically (not based on San Guo Yan Yi) he's actually a pretty good man. Well, I think his looks is pretty okay, and I like his VA in DW6, but I dislike his rod. But maybe I should be content, rather than having him given another spear like the rest of the characters  .

I liked him alot till DW5 but in DW6 he has become one of my all time favorite characters!! Looks awesome and the attacks with the bo(staff) are just too kewl!! |

I have always loved Zhou Yu's character design, until Dynasty Warriors 6. Somehow, it's just too feminine for me [not that that's a bad thing], and not matching Zhou Yu in my opinion. I know he's supposed to look handsome and whatnot, but, not like this. Though, his current weapon has one of the best movesets in the game, much better than his Elder Sword strings. Unfortuunately, Zhou Yu has always had a problem with his voice actor. They matched the character design perfectly, but were just too awkward for me. |

Zhou Lang: Enjoyable in 6. In the previous games, his headband wasn't very good looking. The new boots look a little funny too. Not an expert using him. His sword moveset was impressive, though. Edited by yezhanquan, Mar 1 2009, 02:37 AM.

He is definetly one of the most intelligent and heroic characters of the game and in history. Has anyone here watch Red Cliff yet? If you haven't, then you should! The movie revolves around many of our beloved warriors, but Zhou Yu happens to have the most prominence in all of the movie. He's smart, really good friends with Zhuge Liang, and also makes love with Xiao Qiao. xD Awesome right? Yup go watch it! It made my opinion of Zhou Yu go way up, and he was always one of my favorite characters

I personally prefer the old Zhou Yun from Dynasty Warriors 5 since the sword suits him better with his moveset making him much more swift and agile as he was. The Zhou Yu now just looks rather odd with the staff and I don't care too much for the moveset. My only question that has been bugging me for so long is why is he the only character who constantly gets a voice change in EVER game including the expansion packs? |
