Got the game so late, so I really have no choice but to bring these old dead topics back to life Like M.O.G. said over 2 years ago, 3 brothers have really been improved. In the past games, Liu Bei suffered from having a generic leader moveset. With those two swords, he's probably the 2nd fastest character after Gan Ning. While in my opinion he doesn't have the best crowd clearing Charge attacks, I enjoy using his S string (especially love the final part in Infinite Renbu) which is fast, deadly, clears crowds and builds your Renbu to max at really high speed. Zhang Fei and Guan Yu have also been greatly improved. I liked them in previous games as well but the main issue I had with them was their slow attack speed and not having that many good crowd clearer C attacks. All these issues are fixed in DW6, thankfully. And they also have Swift Attack, which gives them a nice little attack boost. Honorable mentions to Sima Yi (no more feels like "darker" version of Zhuge Liang), Zhang Liao (stole Pang De's halberds but puts them into really good use) and SSX (one of the worst movesets in past games and now one the cheapest characters to use, that's amazing )

I'm not a big fan of Yuan Shao/Sun Quan/Cao Pi moveset myself. Quick C is pretty slow and the crowd clearers are at the end of the attack string. S string doesn't seem that good either as it lacks reach. But at least all 3 of them have Volley special. It really helps when things get tough. |

I'd have to say post DW6 AKA DW6 Empires it explores the movesets deeper than in DW6 here are a few examples Ling Tong: almost everything about this moveset defines whooping ass it doesn't mater if you're running endlessly whilst attacking or staying in one spot this moveset will leave a mark ![]() Pang Tong: i have to say in Empires my favorite attack is his true speed X/Square attack where he flys his staff which is very reminiscent to his old DW5 jump attack ![]() Zhang He: once the claws officialy returned to Fans in Europe like myself they are definately more versatile than in DW5 the grrapple attacks are swift and deadly i'd have to say Zhang He could quite possibly be the fastest attacking character in the series second only to Gan Ning

Ma Chao- I don't really like his greatsword because i don't feel like i'm playing as Ma Chao, i feel like i'm playing as Fu Xi except for the voice, i'd rather have his cloned spear moveset. Zhang he- I like his moveset but it's a little hard for me to control him when he attacks. Taishi Ci- I love his twin rods, his crowd clearing(hold the charge attack button) move is devestating at infinite renbu! |

Here's my view. Cao Pi- I found his dual sword awkward to both use and watch, this new extra long blade, although it may be marginally less cool, is very effective, nice renbu attacks for clearing bases and individual targetting and the musou is good aswell. Xhiahou Dun- Although I was initially apauled by the very idea that he no longer has his 2 handed sword, I found that this massive rock crusher thing is actually not too shabby :). Lacking in speed, it makes up for it in sheer power once you get going, just a quick evade and renbu and you are set. Zhao Yun- Although initially unimpressed by the simplicity of the weapon's appearance i was pleased to see that it's power if unparralelled. Its fast and deadly and its running charge's double attack while in true speed is god-like. One tiny criticism, it doesnt have the same movement as other motions, his renbu stays very much in the same position throughout, i digress, it is still very powerfull and good for clearing bases. Those are the only one's I have extensively used. Obviously certain motions are a given like Lu Bu, as they say " In men Lu Bu, in horses Red Hare" Motions I ahvent used in any great depth are Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei and Zhang Fei among others which i see other think are good, so I shall give them a try and see what happens. Last point, Sun Jian's weapon looks better, (point in fact i think it is awesome in every possible level, despite ebign a simple kung fu sword) but the move set leaves something to be desired I feel, It doesnt have any originality that I can see, but is still a major improvment on its DW5XL predecessor in both respects (let's face it, it wouldn't be hard, it was PITIFUL.) |
