Well as Rotk develops, it does seem to acquire newer and more units. This is at a mix however from VIII, X and XI. I like Taking the Cavalry units along with Powerful Qing Elites or some Standard Archers. Depending on the status of my officer with the certain trait with the unit. |

XI I usually attack with all types, but I prefer Cavalry. In X I like Archers specialy with towers. I also like Qiang Elite. Archers with towers can deal alotta damage. The can attack like 11 times a turn and have good range. But they can't counter attack if attacked directly. Qianq Elite I like because they're as strong as the cavalry and can climb walls. |

I usually have an army heavily based on Siege weapons and Qing Elites/Armored troops. |

The main bulk of the Army is cavalry, supported by a number of infantry to defend the Cavalry from..other types of infantry, and usually 2 crossbow units. (XI) |

It depends on the APT my officers have. If I have only a bunch of C-Cavalry officers,I won't really use cavalry...usually it's a mix,but mostly cavalry units. However,it also depends on the equipement the enemy has. I prefer to use many spear units against Lu Bu's force, for example. Crossbow units are the ones I don't really use, pehraps two or three for backup. As soon as I have the third research of cavalry, they get a bit useless (but only in terms of normal attacks). Siege weapons are always used on attacking cities,of course (except I don't have any workshops). |

Lord Cao Cao, judging by your name, you play Wei. Wei's cavalry commanders are pretty impressive. Like I could name a few from the top of my head like: Xiahou Dun / Yuan / De / Shang / Wei Cao Zhang / Chun Zhang Liao Many others. Not to mention some awesome pike generals that could play support vs spears like Cao Ren, Xu Huang, Man Chong and so on. |

Yeah,I prefer Wei over the others. Though I think about using other forces as well soon. I once used Gongsun Du,but got crushed very quick...well...but I consider myself still as a beginner. I own the game some time now,but I didn't really play a game to the end... And yeah, those guys you mentioned are the ones I use the most (besides created characters)

well if this is for romance of the three kingdoms 10 then i ALWAYS USE Towers!!!!! units with towers. that's it. for help i use centanals and marksmen. towers rule over everything. especially in defence, did you all know that i had defended the province for 64 straight wins? that's right i was invaded 64 times and never lost, why? TOWERS ON THE WALLS , THE ENEMY JUST CAN'T PENETRATE the iron defense, guah ha ha i sound like Cao Ren now.... |

Hmmmm... I never said what units I prefer in ROTK XI. SO I guess I'll do so. First is pikes, they have ultimate defense and great tactics as well. Along with all the techniques they get, they are frickin tanks. Next, I'd say archers. Incinerate, Shower, and ranged attacks makes this unit very useful. And mention the sword unit for the lulz. |

In ROTK XI: Pikes. Each Pike unit is a lawn mower of destruction that can hurt multiple units. I also take 1 or 2 cavalry units for support, 1 archer unit and 1 ram. I practically never use towers/catapults, unless i'm besieging Jian Ye with Warships |

Catapult + Yue Jin + Li Dian + fully researched siege shizzle = annihilation of buildings and land units alike. |

Yeah. The bulk of my armies are usually Cavalry. Depends on my officers' APTs I'd let a pike/bow unit or two tag along. I rarely EVER use siege units actually, but if I do they're a part of a huge army. |

In ROTK XI, I tend to concentrate my tech research on cavalry and officers with A-S rank cavalry. They're fast (easily reach the target castle without the enemy getting reinforcement) and can outmanoeuvre other units (add with a Forced March/Gallop officer), rain arrows at 1 square distance, and deal some nasty damage with their charges. Then later in the game, I'll develop catapults and bring them along with the cavalry as guards. Catapults are the artillery. Lol. |
