Alliances, Ceasefires, etc

Well first let me start off with saying how useful they are in this game. Even by accepting it for a few months (Ceasefire) can make you retaliate very easily. I saw some of these before, and tried it out myself. Just cease firing and preparing for an all out battle can be an easy key to victory. If your enemy aka AI are predictable. I use them only when I am dealing with an army, and some annoying army attacks me when I am off trying to finish things elsewhere. So I just ceasefire with them until I am done with the others.

Alliances; it can just be a hunch but I think the key to a successful Alliance is if the leader likes your character. Now, this can just be an assumption but; I believe the figures are all divided to four groups. One to Wei, Shu, Wu, and Rebels, Zhang Yan, Dong Zhuo, Gongsun Du, etc. Then again I can be wrong. Cao Cao and Zhang Jiao giving gifts to one another can make easy friendship. Cao Cao and Yuan Shao cannot. They must be affiliated with a certain group, Liu Bei = Ding Yuan, Gongsun Zan, Ma Teng. And so alike, if you know what I mean then you should understand this already. It isn't the first time I went through this issue.

Anyway, anybody find any use with these either?

Alliance; I do suppose this is quite redundant since, allies could annul anytime and the next thing you know, hundreds (exaggerated) of units advanced towards your Force.

Ceasefires; This appeared to be broken in this game where, you'd just need a negotiator with/ without manuals. Moreover, CC's with Timid personality, + 100 int + Negotiator = very hard to lose debates. Either a CC or, Lin Xiangru. Although the other ((Yue Yi I think, can't remember the name)) had 94 Int with Negotiator, I'd feel Lin Xiangru's Bold personality to be better.

The real hard one in diplomacy are Solicit. For some reasons, I only managed to get this work for a few times (Less than 3 mind you)

What I find weird is that my force (Sun Jian) and Zhang Jiao can have good relationships easily with 2-3 goodwill. But, it would take me 5-10 goodwills to improve my relationship with another force by 1 level and sometimes it would fall down 1 level the next turn. This is in the Yellow Turban scenario in ROTK XI.

Not exactly, depending who your force, and character is, you can have an alliance til you and the warlord grow dead old. However, if you and him are the last ones standing, that is another story. He'll break the alliance with you, and war will come yet again. Now, to keep an alliance, all you have to do is have one with the same category, Liu Bei -> Gongsun Zan -> Tao Qian. Sun Quan -> Yuan Shu. Cao Cao -> Liu Biao -> Liu Dai. Dong Zhuo -> Gongsun Du.

What I mean by category, Shuist, Wuist, Weist, and Other. Those who get along with you, they tend to keep an alliance until both of you are the last ones standing.
