I like Sun Jian's voice in DW4 better than 5, anyone agree?

Isn't it the same? Sounds like it.

Yep, Steve Blum did the voice for Sun Jian in both games. He also voiced Xiahou Yuan in DW4 and 5
The name's Pang Tong. I do what it takes to get the job done. Nothing more DW Strikeforce/ Pang Tong duel

I finally beat Lu Bu in that duel at Hu Lao Gate. It was on of those things I'd never done, or even tried really, and I had an idea and it worked.

Expert Level
Zhuge Liang
Blast Orb
Way of Musou
Secret of the Orbs

He blocked 3 blasts and it killed him. I decided to play he and Sima Yi this weekend and had a "Blast" using that setup :D A true musou is the only way to flinch him in that duel, and I nearly came close to beating him without XL with Zhang Fei on Hard as long time ago. But the time limit isn't that long, and staying in the red against Lu Bu is never a good thing on any DW game.

Did the fire attack and prayer for wind succeed?
If they did, you wont get it.

IIRC, the Gaidens can only be unlocked by completing a story mode once beforehand.

You must skip Bo Wan Po and fail the fire attack and prayer for wind at Chi Bi.

Playing Chang Ban is never listed as one of the requirements. You can try that and see if it works. But like LDZ and I posted previously, the only things I recall are skipping Bo Wan Po and making sure the fire and wind dont succeed @ Chi Bi.

I remember getting it the first time by surprise, I just did the last battle of the previous 2 chapters only.

Needing to unlock Jiang Wei I presume?

Its simple with Shu. You just need to let the enemy kill Zhuge Liang at the alter, then the allied morale with tumble, gradually, and Huang Gai will fail his fire attack. Plus if Zhou Yu gets killed both plans will fail, but thats unlikely since he's at the back of the army.

Try a harder difficulty and after they do die just kill Cao Cao quickly if your struggling.

Yes, well yes. You have to fail them and then complete the stage, then the gaiden stage will unlock after the 3K chapter.

It appears before the final act End of the Three Kindoms. Not right after Flight of Liu Bei.

@Crazypete, check what LDZ posted there. But I'll have to get back to you on that one. It was tricky from what I recall.

Yeah, sorry, what I meant was that it unlocks itself due to the fact if you hadn't done the requirements it wouldn't appear before the end of the chapter.

- Defeat Zhu Rong in a duel.

Complete that story mode and they will be unlocked.

Ah, good 'ole Dynasty Warriors 4. I remember buying this two weeks after DW3, which is the one that got me acquainted with the series. I wanted a DW with a create-a-warrior, and though I later found out this one's was rather shallow in that area, it's still my favorite in the series. I always thought it had the best replay value, since it had a "choose your own path" thing about it, and it had varying outcomes on the ending movie and battles in the future. It gave me incentive to keep playing through as different characters, as I could level them up and have them give me a different experience, while also looking to unlock a new ending by taking a new path. That's why I prefer this one over DW3, since DW3 had generally the same battles for a lot of characters. There was still more replay value in that than in DW6, but I just always though of DW4 as being the quintessential DW game for this reason. I just love it.
I am currently under leave of absence from the site. Because I'm always slow to the uptake, I just bought DW4:XL.
Short version of my reaction? I remembered why this is my favourite version of the game. The characterization in the Legend Modes (especially for the women) is a bazillion times more likable than the DW5 work.

Is DW4:XL really THAT good? I only have DW4, and I loved it, obviously from my little rave above your post. I've been thinking of investing in it, but wasn't sure.

Sure. It has many fun stages in the Legend's to sap your time and have enjoyment out of it. Also the first chance people had to try the Xtreme Mode. Not forgetting more items and level 11 weapons.
