Well in some history, the novel itself, call's certain figures in this story with different things. Sun Quan's purple hair, added no. Liu Bei's big ears, long arms, red lips, well I can see it in Rotk VII. Cao Zhang's Yellow beard? In the newer titles he doesn't have it, but in past games I remember it. Though for one I am glad he doesn't have it, it's a bit odd. And etc, do you think the portraits are accurate, or need to be?

I picked the first option because I think overall the portraits look very accurate and cool. However I do wish some of the portraits were more DW like than RTK, like Gan Ning. :P

Haha Gan Ning, in most games he is always hiding with a red turban in his head. Although he is finally showed differently and much better in XI both portraits. I wouldn't breaking some accurate things. Also It may just be me, but Sima Shi is always showed with a giant deadly pimple?

I like the Way they look I don't think they are elaborate like the other KOEI games they are much more serious and very well done IMO. B)

if they are accurate, then they probaBLY wont be visually pleasing...

the newer versions are more Anime inspired than the older ones, but not DW level, thats fine with me.

Most of the portraits do look awesome. I certainly don't want them to look like Dynasty Warriors - the less the two series have in common besides the time period, the better.
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/fixdw6/ - The petition for KOEI to release additional content for DW6. Please spread the word, but no duplicate signatures! We got them to release ROTK11 on the PC in English, so let's continue to give them input so that they release even better games.

I was slightly taken back by Gan Ning's older Portrait... he looked... fat

I think he was the only one in XI who did not age well, everyone else's looked hardened and experienced in their older portraits, Gan Ning just looked fat and out of shape... maybe thats historical accurate.

Zhou Yu looks like Keenu Reeves in this one...

The portraits are very affected by the western world. Notice, none of these guys looks particularly asian.....

I like the ROTK pictures. Good pictures usually tell that the officer is good while bad/normal hints a mediocre officer. Alot of the pictures in NA: Rise to Power looks somewhat boring compared to ROTK and aren't very representative of the officer's abilities. One time I got a fierce looking samurai and his LEA was below 30.

I thought Gan Ning had the best age change portrait, next to Lu Meng and Zhang He.

Haha, no. Some of the best portraits in the game(ROTK11) are given to HORRIBLE officers. And look at Cao Cao in 10/11. His portrait tells you nothing about his ability to lead, like his 8 portrait does, by your logic.

In NARTP, there's no War stat. Thus, portraits of fierce-looking guys has no bearing on stats(and really shouldn't... just because you look angry enough to stab someone in the face doesn't mean you can kick ass at leading troops.)

Prime example, Hidehisa Sengoku. Has an awesome battlefield-type portrait. He fought in several different battles, leading forces for Hideyoshi. He lost every single one because he was hotheaded and too eager to fight. However, he was also famous for capturing the infamous bandit Goemon Ishikawa.

I find NA portraits way more detailed and interesting than ROTK ones(literally so, even, the ROTK ones are tiny in comparison.)

Why hasn't this thread been locked yet anyway? The poll is rather poor in its choices.

I agree. Ling Tong however on XI, looks a lot like he came out of DW5. There is perhaps Sun Quan in his younger portrait, but then I'd have to add Lu Bu. Anyway, sometimes you just have to mix a little to make things more interesting.
