Maybe you need to update your graphics drivers or something. What exactly is the problem? I'm using DirectX 10 as well. Everything on High with 4gb Readyboost. |

DirectX 10 is inherent to Vista, and is a separate package from DX9. You don't have d3dx9_39.dll because your DX9 isn't up to date. Don't download the individual dll files and put them in your DW6 folder like the tech-challenged moderators at Koei would have you do. Simply update from Microsoft here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en DW6 for PC is a DX9 game btw, so no DX10 bonuses. |

Finally I got my hands on DW6. My impression after finished Zhao Yun's Musou, the new renbu system isn't as good as the old system in previous DW. It's very repetitive! More button mashing than ever with less variety of combo. PC port of DW6 isn't well converted either. Graphic wise, it looks as good as the one on PS3 (while it should have been better for PC port). There are quite a handful of problems as well. Enemies just pop up or disappear very frequently. The control just feel awkward. Edited by StrikeForce9, Jan 24 2009, 02:29 PM.

I just got it. Played through 3 musous so far. Not bad, I'm enjoying the new system actually. I have a crap computer so I had to turn on frame skip to keep it going, which makes the whole thing jumpy and jittery. Other than that the graphics are nice to look at, and the environments are so much more interactive now. |
![]() Thanks to BlueEyes for sig and Musou for av!

If anyone feel awkward playing this with keyboard settings, do yourself a favour and buy a controller. It's much easier to control hence makes the game more enjoyable. I actually started to like the game now! |

For those of you asking about performance, I can't give you anything but a costly answer. Right now I'm finally running DW6 with maximum settings at an unwavering constant 60fps, but that's at the expense of my upgraded system, which for about a $1000, has for what matters a Core i7 920 CPU, Radeon 4870 GPU, and 3Gb DDR3 RAM. Simply going from a Q6600 processor to a Core i7 920 jumped my fps in DW6 from a minimum of 40-some to 60. Just keep in mind that that's about a $500-600 upgrade, $300 for the processor, $300 for the x58 motherboard. To point out how CPU-heavy DW6 is, neoseeker used DW6 as a Core i7 CPU benchmark here. Of course, that doesn't mean you need to spend a ton of money to get DW6 running smoothly, just that you need at least a moderately powerful CPU and a decent GPU. I have just picked this up from the internet store awhile ago and give my grading as follows: Graphics : Looks beautiful. Very beautiful. Even though it may not be as good as games today it definetely is the best looking Warriors-series game out there. The graphics would look much more beautiful if I didn't try playing this on a laptop though. Lacking the CPU to run the high graphics without lagging to heck but I can actually play this pretty decent with frameskip and lowering graphics among few other modifications in my settings. Tip for anyone who lags in this game under Windows, this helped me greatly. Goto Task Manager and set the Priority of this program to High. Trust me, it really helps if you get lagspikes. Compatibility mode _may_ help but for me it gave nonexistant help. If you have fullscreen mode, setting your desktop to same resolution as the game resolution is may help with lag as well. Also, drawing distance, units on screen and resolution seem to be the biggest laggers on the settings if you wish to set them around. Gameplay: Same as on the original. Didn't notice any differences. Only thing I actually noticed that was changed is the horses ability names. When I first got "Red Hare" I was like "What the heck, Wind Spirit ?" but that equals Red Hare Spirit now. Don't be confuzzled. All in all the gameplay compared to others of the series is, well, good and bad. I really disliked the dueling most in this game. It's very well done in theory but executes badly. Compared to DW4 dueling, this one doesn't stop the game timer so getting into a duel will drain time from you that you would need for other things. Also, 99 times out of 100 it's much less bothersome for me to kill officer _outside_ of duel than inside of it. They gang up on you as well while your own officers do not seem to help you out. Not to even mention you can abuse this whole dueling system by running around the ring of soldiers with your horse and kill the soldiers easily doing so.. Fun way to take bases may I add. Siege battles and detailed stories were my best experiences with this game so far. Sieges really give something new to the game. Climbing up the ladders to the wall is fun and often useful (He Fei Castle it's nearly a must) . Only bad thing is that the siege weapons, still, do pitiful damage if they hit you. Would imagine a direct ballista hit doing more damage to you than a horse ramming over you. As for stories, they're a bit fictional alright but we've seen this story a bunch of times before. It's all good imo. I really liked Zhuge's videos for one, and as someone mentioned earlier somewhere on this forums, you see on the videos lots about characters who have no story of their own and can easily adapt to play with them on Free Mode too. Like Gan Ning's storymode has lots about Lu Meng. As for the infamous Renbu system. It was alright.. I do prefer good ol' ST system but Renbu does work and is functional. And swimming I won't even talk about. EDIT: Had to mention. The Targets in missions truly are not meant to be executed on your first gameplay. Battle of Guan Du , keeping both forts up is absolute hell even for a highlevel character, let alone lowlevel one. EDIT2: The horse trample damage is increased in DW6 ALOT compared to other games. Fun feature, yet easily abused as I mentioned in the duel section. This works great for anything though. You can easily kill Lu Bu at Hu Lao Gate by ramming him down with a horse constantly. You'll be surprised how effective is it with a LV5 horse. PC compatibility : I cannot help but feel they made a bad port of the game. I'm happy they at least did a bad port but the game truly should be better optimized to use the graphics card of the computer. This is clear thing that the game uses more your CPU than graphics card and that is what makes the biggest performance changes for people. Friends of mine with crappier graphics card than I do get much better performance to the game by having a better CPU only. There really is no highlight in having PC version over PS3/360. Conclusion: If you have PS3/360, get it there. Otherwise, PC version is better than nothing. Have 2.5Ghz+ on your comp before you even try to run this or you _will_ lag.
