I first read this from Magazine, then hearing it from Warriors Orochi 3. Before the release I rented this game for few months before playing Samurai Warriors.

I thought "woah!! Koei made other games too?!"
Then i was doubting if the gameplay would be the same because it was from a different time/japan so i held off from buying it. But eventually i got sw2 as my first samurai game.

I had a first hand look at the characters through WO and was instantly interested in the characters. I honestly didn't know what to expect, but was super excited to try it out. When actually played it for the first time, my first impressions were that I loved the interesting different game modes, like the castle mode from SW1 and the Sugoroku mode from SW2.

Samurai Warriors 2 was my first game of koei games. I borrowed it from a friend. actually, he didn't like it, maybe because he couldn't understand english. anyway, I played it, and I loved it!! but sadly, I've lost it, and I didn't have the DVD. koei games are not famous in iran. because of that, I couldn't be able to buy it.after 3 years (   ) I suddenly thought that I can buy it from an internet shop. this is how now I have it. (sad story ends.stop crying.) :upset:

In addition, those times I had never heard of Dynasty Warriors or Warriors Orochi.

Well when I heard of it, it was while I was watching my cousin play on it. The first one I played was SW2 and I honestly didn't think I would like it because at that time I was into first person shooters but then that got me into the genre of Hack'n'Slash games.

I thought that it's good that KOEI make some good variation to its hack & slash series. tbh too, i was really glad that i could learn some history lesson from playing a playstation game. :2up:

I thought this will be like Dynasty Warriors, but set in Japan with different characters, events and battles.

SW1 is still great after all these years. Especially with XL.

Well, I watched my older brother playing Samurai Warriors and then asked him the name of the game. So I didn't have the opportunity to imagine what kind of game Samurai Warriors will be. And I played Dynasty Warriors with my older brother a lot, so after watching the gameplay I kind of knew what kind of game Samurai Warriors will be.

it's like DW series but set in SENGOKU era . if DW have CAO CAO , so SW have ODA . similar person from different era , maybe CAO CAO more cunning than ODA .

My first Koei game I've witnessed (didn't get to play it, sadly) was Dynasty Warriors 3 for the PS2 (it was around that time frame). It was my next-door neighbor who was just having a blast with that game. I never got around to playing any Warriors games since. I remember in 2003 or 2004, I've seen an ad in a magazine for Samurai Warriors, and the usual game reviewer appraisals: "Dynasty Warriors, but with a Feudal Japan twist." It wasn't until my first months in my first duty station (Kadena Air Base, Okinawa Japan) that I bought my first Koei Warriors game: Samurai Warriors 2: Xtreme Legends. Before I tried the Story Mode, I've played as Masamune Date (in large part to Ronin Warriors' Date Seiji). Then I gravitated towards Nobunaga Oda; immersing in the story mode and just all-around experience got me addicted to the franchise as well as absolute obedience to the Oda. My next game was Warriors Orochi, then Warriors Orochi 2. I didn't get to play Dynasty Warriors 5 until I ordered my first copy while I was deployed to Afghanistan at the turn of this decade. Looking back, the leveling up system was easier to understand with the Samurai Warriors franchise than Dynasty Warriors; easier to acquire mounts than Dynasty Warriors, etc.
I still have respect for the Dynasty Warriors series due to them being the original thing, but the Samurai Warriors series is my 30 oz cup of Coke Zero in this regard.

My first experience with SW is a bit funny actually. It was when we still had blockbuster (yeah remember them?) and I had DW2, 3 and 5 by this point. I saw it used in Blockbuster and it just looked like Dynasty Warriors which obviously was my fave game series so I forced my dad to buy it. (I was like 8-10?). Pretty sure I used Oichi first. Kunoichi was my favorite character from the get-go (and still is). What's funnier is that it was in Spanish (I think) or some other language :kurokan: I played it for years until I finally bought an English one a few years ago. I never really knew what the objectives were either because of it.

My next experience was when Warriors Orochi came out and now THAT was amazing. The feels. WOW. That was like the best game ever (until warriors orochi 2 came out which I got on release day I think :jonny: )
