What has that got to do with anything?

Staff involvement: I'm actually not sure if many members of staff are even active on the site anymore, you can correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not sure that "The Mod formerly known as Hondam" is still active anymore.

Staff Rules: Probably the amount of times they've been changed and how when "bots" break certain rules, the rules get changed . Admin validating, which is a longer process then simply sending an e-mail seeing if that person responds and checking if that person is a "bot" or not.

Passive moderators - this type of mod rarely posts on the board in question and will often lurk unseen in the shadows, hiding their online status, until such time as they need to wield their power despite being largely unknown to the community.
Vigilantes - actively cruise every thread, editing or deleting posts that are vaguely interesting or controversial, so as to maintain a general atmosphere of stagnation on the board. Most commonly found on specialist fora (e.g. car fora).
****ing hopeless - the most dangerous of all, showing precious little awareness of how to do their job. This incompetence often manifests itself in such forms as ensuring that new members are watchfully policed and ruthlessly suppressed by recourse to, amongst other things, the Law of the Post Count (see below).
Teh popular ones-These are the mods that were appointed to their positions either by sucking off the administrator or they have nudes floating somewhere. These are usually 16 year old girls who you often wonder how they balance the life of being a myspace whore and a incompetent mod.Often they dont do anything except be really b*tchy to n00bs and post their pictures in the Member's photos thread wanting to be dickfed attention.
**ULTRA RARE**The laid back mod-These are the few and proud moderators who were former trolls and decided to balance being a troll and being a good forum user and ended up somehow getting picked to be moderators. They usually don't jump into forum raids right away because a part of them would like to see the epic lulz in action. They usually don't care much about spam and stupid new members and its rare for them to get motivated to ban someone. The admins hate these type of mods and like to often find ways to replace them with more of the types described above.

^Types of mods as listed on encyclopediadramatica. Most of the mods here fit into the top 2 categories. I probably fit into the laid back category when I was a mod.

I'd say there are a few like Fayt and Goldensummit who are cool mods as well, but most definitely are among the other types. :/

Note-Fayt and Goldensummit aren't the only good mods. They are just names I can think of off the top of my head.

Teh Mod Creed-

What's good for the goose is definitely not good for the gander - in short, established board members are allowed to rip the piss out of n00bs but should the n00b under fire actually fight back and start winning, a mod will step in (often by locking the thread, see "Mod powers" below) before the established member starts losing too much face.
Law of the Post Count - an unwritten internet law that states that the likelihood of a poster being moderated, regardless of the merits or otherwise of their post, is inversely proportional to their relative post count. The Law also states that the truthfulness of any post is directly proportional to the post count of its creator.
This Is Not A Democracy - a phrase invoked when a moderator has been seriously pwned for making a cr*p decision, and will not (or, more likely, cannot) justify the decision in public.
I'll see how I feel - a decision made by a moderator does not have to be consistent, but instead will often be arrived at through gut instinct and with absolutely no regard to whether or not a forum rule has been breached. Can often result in double standards, a basic requirement for any self-respecting forum.
Lets just take this to PM-When a moderator has been called out for being a ****** and a nazi. Rather then face the masses and actually admit to being an epic failure, they hide behind the cozy barrier of a PM and hide from the public like b*tches.

Some of these are followed by mods here extensively. I have personally seen Krabs invoke the "This is not a Democracy" line.

I usually don't get involved with the concerns of how KW forum should be run, but I have to agree with Slick on his account of the behavior of some (not all) mods. I'd just like to add my own thoughts, because I've had them for quite some time.
I know some of the mods used to be active and involved in the community (judging by post counts), but it seems to me that if they're no longer posting or monitoring members' activity, it's obvious that KW isn't of great importance to them anymore. And hey, it happens. People get caught up in life! Mr. Honda was nice enough to admit he would no longer have the time required for his moderation duties, and so he gave it up... I would think other staff would do otherwise if they're not capable of continuing their jobs as well.
It's odd, because I'd say about half of the staff is friendly and active, while the other half seems cold, distant, and faceless because of their lack of involvement.

Also, I personally, think the mod application should be done away with. I think perhaps suitable members should be approached by current staff and ASKED if they'd like to have the responsibility of becoming a mod. Why? Because I think most members who fill out the application are full of bs and act like complete suck ups, it's just doesn't seem all that credible to me. But I'm sure my thought won't change anything, heh.

Now I really like this forum and I enjoy posting here, but time to time I'll enter a topic that gets slightly off topic and that irks me as well. I mean why are people talking about squids in a topic about love? I think if members have issues it should be discussed more privately or in an appropriate topic, cause the whole thing looks a bit immature.

One last thing (getting this all of my chest at once), csn wee dp somthin abot mebers wit poor speeling an gramar... teh 1s whu intuntally post liek 8 yr olds? PLEASE?

Thank you both Slick & Manji for your feedback, some excellent points raised.

@ Manji, I like where you are going with the application idea, I'll propose that to the staff team in fact and see if we can implement that in some way.

Also, we do have a method of checking against moderator activity, it may be lenient to some, and to others it may be harsh. But a few moderators have being released in the past for low/no moderator activity.

I too applaud Mr.Honda for resigning due to RL matters, which will probably be me someday as well. I have far more respect for a moderator that chooses when their time is up rather then leaving guys like myself no choice but to remove one for inactivity.

@ Slick, I appreciate it man, I don't think I'm worthy of that praise. All I do is just try my best and to make things as fair & consistent as I possibly can.

The rest is rather general, but may indeed apply to some moderators.

I think we have a strong forum overall, but there is no doubt for some improvement here and there. Please keep the constructive feedback coming as it may well improve the forum for the better in the not too distant future. :)

I really dont think the forum has that many problems. I think all the mods and Admins are great. Because they dont only mod, but participate in the forums and discussions. That is my huge problem with the Offical Koei website, But im not sure what makes me post more over there then here, maybe it is because there are alot of more members here who post a lot, making it easy to get lost among the members. While at the Koei community, everyone seems to get to know everyone, that is people who are active. But here, I am active and yet I dont even know 3/4 of the members who are active. Also on the other board, I find myself looking through all the topics that interest me, but here I often skip by the main game threads like DW and SW. I dont really know why, but I have just found them to be to much of a mess in the past and there has seemed to be topics that dont interest me. I find myself most of the time only going to the general, Multimedia and GFX threads.
I also must say that I dont care much for the fun area, at times, it just seems to be a waste of time. Not to mention that there is just to much going on in there, with the family topics and such.

To begin, it is a commonly known fact that many of the rules have viable workarounds.

I bring you to section 3, where it states:

Animated gifs are not allowed for signatures.

While I agree that the irresponsible use of GIF animation can potentially burden our internet connections, I have found a way to prevent them from loading altogether.

If the community would adopt this small change, you could allow GIFs to be used in signatures without any of the negative consequences involved.

Download Adblock
Restart your browser
Right-click on the offending image.
Click "Adblock image".

Simple. Effective. Free.

Or, you could settle for a global gif swipe (which would be "*.gif") but that would interfere with the site.

There are several content filters for firefox. In the case of foul language, I would suggest downloading a flexible content filter such as ProCon.

I found at first that some moderators were OVER EAGER to correct something that's just a liiiiiittle off topic. They come across as high-strung and just generally like a buzz-kill.

However, I haven't seen a single case of this personally in the last month or so. So things are pretty good.

RELAX and let people TALK, that's what a forum is all about right?

cursing is fine..oh fine.. (not saying it isnt but here comes the comparisan) but 'normal posts that apparently are "to short' according to a certain staffmember" are emediatly spam disregarding my normal tendency of making HUGE posts, oh no i need to uphold my charactercount god forbid that i once make 5-6 short posts in one day!
Tesouken is a monster and should be shunned upon. The gods staff has "warned" tesouken before because of his cruel "spam" that he is particularly known for.
If Tesouken keeps this "spam" up he might one day even be banned, yes because he is a evil sonova that "spams" Tesouken should actually be tossed into a ravine because of this.

pfft..

Had to get it off my chest cause its absurd and i already pmed chin about it but hes busy anyway and no this is not to attentionballoon but to voice my dislike at KW.
Furthermore i feel fine right now cause i got a luck-explosion in Bladestorm currently.

I’m sick of these types of complaints, and yeah I warned you, Tesouken (after Chin also agreed it was worthy too warn mind you). We mods volunteer our time to do the best we can’t for the forum and make it fair for everyone and even give little leeway with the rules, but some like your good self seem to want too much and play the innocent game when you do something wrong.

So since you’re carrying on like a pork chop and want the world to believe the mods are ‘gods’ then the members can see for themselves just some of the reasons (in the space of just 2 days as well) why you got warned for spam. As I’ve said many times a few big long posts does not give you a free spam pass inbetween.

http://z13.invisionfree.com/koeiwarriors/i...showtopic=12683 – Pointless topic which would belong nowhere other then the Fun area, which it wasn’t.
http://z13.invisionfree.com/koeiwarriors/i...pic=8724&st=810 “so what.”, after double posting.

http://z13.invisionfree.com/koeiwarriors/i...5&#entry3886937 “Shingen.”

So cut the drama please, it's just a warning, you are still a member, you still have full posting privileges and you will even be entitled to have it removed in the future if those types of posts decrease. :)

Haha that should be in the Complaints thread. Well yeah, remember a good behaviour will let your warn bar decreased so no worries about it as long as you improve with the good behaviour with no rules breaking.

Sorry it was too much for me to handle all the things at the moment but thanks for let us know the problem.

Yes exactly, so what. Explain to me what the harm is when someone doubleposts especially when the whole reason of the doublepost is a bump for notice. So where those the examples proving that i am a evil spammer? I dont think that will convince anyone to be perfectly honest here :/

Let me in public for once more explain the definition of spam:

- Posting an advertisement toward commercial interest.
- Purposely post multiple times trolling a conversation.

Spam does not mean:

- Posting an answer fully in line with the topics question that by its small size hurts the eyes of a single staffmember.
- Posting a breathtaking quota of 2x a single word in a question topic where no discussion would be possible about the answer to begin with.

If i open a topic asking: What is your highest score in Bladestorm.

Do you truly expect people to tell all the details of how they achieved it or just say "2590 points" or so just for example. Same goes for the topic question "what is the first mmorpg you ever played" Am i obligated to in every post i make explain the depths of my choice? One damn day in wich i dont post a million keyhits... and emediatly im spamming? I really did think you were joking when you pmed me fayt, i still think this is absurd.

So cut the drama please, it's just a warning, you are still a member, you still have full posting privileges and you will even be entitled to have it removed in the future if those types of posts decrease. :)

Have it removed now then, those types of posts dont decrease, unless you remove them. Nowhere do i state i should be entitled to spam, but i do hope you have the intellect to understand that the way you are putting the so called anti spam law into practice is definatly not for any cause against spam, this is comparable with giving someone a ticket when they walk in the grass while the law against walking in grass is only meant for flowerperks.

I am not spamming and you know it, its not about the warning or still being a member, cause im not a member here to do you guys a favor im still a member here cause i still enjoy posting here and up till now this place has been alot more friendly than the official koei forums are to members, when that ends i simply leave taking literally all my posts with me cause thats how i roll. This is soley about an absurd treatment over something that clearly has nothing to do with spam.

It's simple, the rules clearly state what will be deemed as spam, I'm not even going to waste time debating what you think it means. Posting that is considered unacceptable to the forum is commonly deemed as spam, as it is on many online communities, this is no exception.

Now if you are as intelligent as you claim to be I trust you know how to read the rules and can realize what the forum does not allow.

Those one words posts are utterly pointless as they do not contribute anything further for discussion or debate, which is the sole purpose of a discussion board; having something to discuss or debate. KOEI Warriors has had major "spam" problems in the past, so that is why if you make those short posts you will often be asked to provide a reason with your posts (which had happened in the SW one for example), yet when they continue afterwards they then become warn-able, simple.

Double Posts are not allowed unless 24 hours pass, or with a few other exceptions, as in the past they have at times lead to constant double, then triple and excessive posting. There have been cases in the past where one member makes 5-6 posts in a row, again there is nothing to discuss if one member is doing all of the posting. It's called drawing the line to prevent that from happening.

But you can continue to shoot the messenger if you want, I'm just going by what the rules state which were agreed to by the staff. You failed to follow the rules so you got warned, I can’t make it any simpler then that. Besides, I’ve got far better things to do with my time then to argue over something so...minuscule.

I like mostly everything.
I just wish that in the forums people wouldn't argue randomly or venture completely off topic. And I hate it when people insult each other.
I think that for the arguements and debates we should have a debate forum (not sure if we already have one). That way the people that want to can and others won't have to read it. There could be polls to say what side you are on and you just debate. Or they could just argue in pm. Either way.
And I'm glad that moderators and admins bugs us about spam and double posting. At first I didn't really mind it because before I used to just browse forums. Now that I've started to post a lot more the spam is getting more annoying. So thanks for constantly nagging us about it (especially Insp. Chin since he does it in most of the topics I browse/post in).
