I couldn't find a topic on this so I'm guessing this game hasn't been announced here yet.

Capcom is making another 2-D cross fighting game pitting their characters against the characters of the company Tatsunoko (Responsible for Anime like Speed Racer, Neon Genesis Evangelion, etc).

Here's a scan:
http://www.fightersgeneration.com/newspics...sgeneration.jpg

Very glad to see that Capcom hasn't given up on 2-d fighters. Hope to see the return of Ruby Heart =D

Kay, but will the sprites be updated?

And it may be very unlikely for a Western release, it not the first crossover of their's.

What do Oda Nobunaga, Guan Yu and Li Jue have in common?
They were all killed by their subordinates. They also all serve Genbu for the cuase of Justice.

Shitennoh: Hellfire of Destiny- Genbu Victory!

D&D on KW: Conquers.

It sure looks like the sprites are updated, at least, they should be considering that Tatsunoko characters will be making their first debut in a 2-d fighter.

Hasn't stopped them before.

Although they could be using the Street Fighter 3 sprites

Doesn't look like it. A screen of Chun Li is on that scan, and it's clearly a different looking animation for her Kikosho. So Capcom will probably be using new sprites.

Great. Now Capcom has gone anime on me. This is cool because it keeps the name out there, but now it just seems like they are reaching now. But i wont knock it, till i actually try it.

Capcom has been anime for ages.

Heck, this is almost exactly like Marvel Vs. Capcom only with Japanese "superheroes" instead.

Screenies. Seems to be a form of cel-shaded 3D on 2D plane in a Marvel Vs. Capcom-style play. Character design is MUCH more pleasing to my eye than SF4's overly-musclebound style.

Looks great. I personally like these graphics more than SF4. I hope to see more Alpha characters this time for Capcom, and maybe...Dante? or better yet Vergil?

when i saw this news in Mugen-infantry's forums... me and a HUNDRED more users literally jumped out of our seats..

I love the new sprite work for the chars. Ryu is okay, and Chun Li looks more fulfilling to look at now... good work Capcom..

who knows, if its possible, some mugen users like me could rip out stuff from this game if it comes out and make the conversions of them :3

I'm not really aware of Mugen can do, so correct me I'm wrong...but I always thought their capabilities were limited to 2-d games. Capcom vs Tatsunoko is clearly 3-d

That may be however it is a crossover that did not make it over to the US and who knows? The same could be said about this title as well, right now we have 3D looking characters but gameplay and other aspects have yet to be detailed.

im guessing the gameplay is like a 3D vision of Marvel vs Capcom 2.

I've actually tried this crossover a while back. There's no other reason to get the game other than its story. The gameplay gets old fast.

The real cool thing about the game is how many characters from Namco and Capcom that make appearances in it.

To stay on topic...I'm thinking the gameplay of Capcom vs Tatsunoko is like a 3-d Capcom vs SNK 2. I haven't seen anything suggestive of super jumping in any of the screens so far. So you can appropriately rule out huge MVC style air combos.

Well...it's not really a fighting game,more of a RPG...

I completed it a while back, quite nice to me though..

Indeed. I'm sure one can make the inference that Tatsunoko is kind of the equivalent to US's Marvel Comics. I don't know if Tatsunoko has done any manga work, but they've been around for a while, making a lot of anime that a lot of Japanese people grew up with. As Tatsunoko is obscure with us, I'm sure the same could be said of Marvel over there. So I hope that we can gloss over the obscure factor and bring over this fighter as well.

Hell, Chaos Wars came over. WTF. I think the main problem is that a lot of Tatsonoko's properties are spread out to a lot of different dubbing studios in the US and Capcom US doesn't know if they can do something about them agreeing that they'll need the intellectual property in order to bring it out. I think.

By DBZ game I assume you mean stuff like that Budokai series or whatever. Which it doesn't look anything like. Unless anything cel-shaded is somehow "anime." The only anime aspect so far is the inclusion of anime superheroes like Casshern. Street Fighter Alpha 2/3 looks WAY more like anime than this style-wise, it even had anime-style expressions and such.

"True anime," oh please.
