@Fayt: Isn't that a little harsh? I mean he DID make the original rules(along with Mizzle and "Mod Formerly Known as Hondam") before the rules got changed. I don't why Slick's Public Enemy #1 all of a sudden.

How is Slick "Public Enemy #1"? Because he got warned for breaking the rules on many counts? And why should making the original rules exempt you from braking them? That in itself is a foolish notion...
I have tons of respect for Slick but I do believe Fayt was justified in his actions.
And besides I do believe Fayt explained his reasons pretty clearly, something which he had no need to but did nonetheless, if he wishes to elaborate on it then so be it.

But for now:

-Warnings and bans are not to be discussed on the forum.

Thank you ;)

The only way to avoid getting warned and still be a member is to follow the rules of the forum. If it is too hard to follow then just don't post. Many people do read the boards without posting.

Age isn't really something we look at too much. Our previous admin/global moderator, Guan Yu's Apprentice, was only 13 as a staff member. Although we do hope that staff members act mature and help out efficiently. It's not like some regular job you are applying for that has an age restriction. This is more of a volunteer job or think of it as community service where anyone can apply. :D

A bit curious about the Report option: when a post is reported using the "! Report" button, how do we know if the report has been read? And who attends to reported posts?

When you report a post, that post goes straight to the email inbox of the moderator in charge of the said section ;)
Then action is either immediately undertaken by the moderator or the report is taken to the staff for further discussion...

Thanks for the quick reply, Astus =)! And what about sections like "News & Announcements" and "Support/Feedback" of which we don't know what moderators are in charge?

uhh, im no mod, but wouldnt it be the admin who would get the report?
also, i think on the forum index, at the bottom theres a link to show all the mods, and the sections they are in control of, so if in any doubt, theres always that link :) and they would probably get that report

Yeah in the unmoderated sections I do believe the reports go straight to Admins or maybe even the Global Mods, maybe one of them would like to elaborate further because that's as far as I know...

I believe they go to straight to admin, I have received a few reports from 'unmoderated' sections before.

Thanks Astus (again =)), God-Like Phoenix and Fayt, now it's clearer.

Edit - (I didn't want to double post, I hope my edited post will be read all the same)
I put the same question I asked in my first post: when a post is reported using the "! Report" button, how do we know if the report has been read?
And another question, do all administrators read reports from "unmoderated" sections?
I'm curious about that because, from what I saw, maybe my report of about ten days ago hasn't been read (if it's just that the info I gave wasn't considered notable, never mind).

There isn't a feature that lets you know when your report is read. I think it would be best to contact a GM or Moderator if you see something that is not allowed or inappropriate. The private message system is much easier to use and allows us to communicate better with members and staff. Since the report system uses e-mail it maybe difficult for a staff member to read it because he/she may have multiple e-mail accounts, a strict spam blocker, or their e-mail account may no longer be in service.

Usually if it is a personal matter we will contact you, but if it is a report about a bot posting spam in a topic then we will just remove the topic without notice and maybe throw a thank you out. Depending on the situation you may or may not know about the actions that are taken. Most of the time we will get back to you on the matter. If you notice that no action is being taken then please PM a member of staff about the situation.

If you see a any Staff member online in the Who's Active List and the problem is urgent, I recommend you PM them about the problem or issue. They can then contact someone who moderates that section or a higher member of staff. I would only use the report function if there was an issue that needed to be seriously taken care of and there wasn't any staff members on. Although, You are better off just using the PM system because some staff members will check KW forums before they check their e-mail address.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask. If your problem still hasn't been resolved please contact a member of staff now.

I thought that reports were more convenient than PMs for staff members especially in some cases, since it's immediately clear that they concern forum matters, while PMs can concern anything. Moreover, as we already said, some sections aren't moderated, so it wasn't clear to whom we should send a possible PM.
Your explanation can be helpful for other members too, Jsun, thanks (by the way, I didn't have any problems, I just gave an info that I thought could be useful to KW).

Heya wu, I'm kinda confused on what you are trying to say.
Are you saying how they were assigned to the section to begin with, and then suddenly taken off and assigned to new ones? I think the Forum Staff Log needs updating, there has just been some move around, no biggies. :)

It all gets discussed within the staff, just to make things more manageable I guess...
Some people ask to switch just because it's easier for them...
It all works out in the end.

Ahh ok, I was thinking cos maybe a member wanting to be a mod of a section then a mod that didnt mod that section in the first places gets it, would feel gutted.

Wait, then the mod that wants to mod the section, do they have to give something up to mad that section or do they still keep it?

I think I can answer this one. ^_^

Bascially if a staffer doesn't want a section, they have the option to drop that area completely, or trade with someone else. We just discuss in staff who all would like to drop or swap forums.

I myself dropped the "Ideas for Non Koei Games" simply because I didn't have a clue about that section or it's member base and didn't really see it being "fair" for me to mod it since I didn't know anything about it. So it's one section I know that's up for grabs(at least right now) when the next staff application thread comes about.

Seeing as I practically made that section through mass-topic movements, stickies, etc. it's a shame I'm not the mod of it. >:(

Technically Zhuge_Flea made it, but I built it from the ground up. >.>

Well you're welcome to apply for the position once a new staff application thread is made Slick. ^_^
